Horowitz: It's Beyond Time for A Cold-Eyed Look At Trump's Record
Conservative Review ^ | January 13, 2106 | Daniel Horowitz

Posted on 01/13/2016 5:50:38 PM PST by JSDude1

“You’ve convinced me [of the need to pass the Dream Act].” [NBC Latino, 8/22/13] "I hate the concept of it, but on a humanitarian basis with what’s happening, you have to [bring in Syrian refugees]." [Interview with Bill O’Reilly, 9/8/15]

Regarding Kim Davis: “Because we had a ruling from the Supreme Court and we are a country of laws and you have to do what the Supreme Court ultimately, whether you like the decision or not, and it was a 5-4 decision, whether you like the decision or not, you have to go along with the Supreme Court. That’s the way it is.” [Interview with Bill O’Reilly, 9/8/15]

These comments were not made by Jeb Bush who sits at 3% in the polls; they were made by Donald Trump, the front-runner for the GOP nomination.

After spending an entire week discussing the Cruz citizenship issue, can’t we have a debate over whether we’ve properly vetted the frontrunner on some of the critical issues facing our nation?

Everyone becomes an intrepid conservative convert on the road to Des Moines.

It is self-evident to anyone with a modicum of love for the Republic that this is an election our nation and party cannot get wrong. Following eight years of Obama’s fundamental transformation, the stakes are too high.

As someone who has vetted a number of congressional candidates who promised to be conservative but got sucked into the D.C. political vortex upon assuming office, I’ve seen that nobody runs in a primary as anything but a solid conservative. Everyone becomes an intrepid conservative convert on the road to Des Moines.

Unlike the pettiness on here and in silly season, maybe the record of what candidates have said and done in the past should be scrutinized by us.

Not one of Trump's employees or people he has done business with has come forward to say that Trump is not a man of his word.

If he weren't a man of his word, witnesses would be crawling out of the woodwork.

Both Cruz and Trump have held contrary views to what they preach now. I’ll go with the one I fell could be elected, and that is Trump.

The Republicans have gone easy on him.

Hillary will no doubt pull out the unflattering documentary from his time building the golf course in Ireland.

Not really, that time has passed. He’s the nominee. Deal with it.

“Hillary will no doubt pull out the unflattering documentary from his time building the golf course in Ireland.”

Hillary is pretty much hog-tied when it comes to exposing anyone.

That statement is very strange. Everyone grows and changes and sometimes has a learning curve that changes a view.

However, not everyone goes from hanging out with, speaking well of and donating vast sums of money (for favors he claims, which is illegal) to Leftists to being a born again Conservative.

Like everyone here I've voted for Republicans who say the right words about securing our borders... for years. And after they're elected, they don't do squat.

So forgive me if I don't fall for the ‘right words’... Lucy's pulled that football away one too many times.

Trump will build the Wall - he will keep illegals out of our county. I don't care about the pretty words anymore.

If Democrats get control of Congress, Trump may well surprise us by pushing and signing extreme gun control measures (confiscation). He’s also pledged many times to increase police agencies and their influence. He’s a New Yorker.
