IOW, the BS wants registration, the first step to confiscation, like Hitler. Showing their true colors.

Since liberalism is a mental disorder, no liberal should ever be allowed to own a gun.

I am waiting for the abortion registration database. Unlike gun owners, those folks are actual killers.

Then we should have a database for journalists and their voting history, personal income, spouse’s income, religious affiliation, number of legitimate children.

LOL!
I think liberals would be even more pleased with a constitutional amendment protecting child molesters.
Even better would be if the Supreme Courts invented one.

Her stupid article was posted last week.

I didn’t even realize the “registry” part of it, not reading as I should.

Phooey on youie. To think I am surrounded by this absurdity and only 20 min from hers.

Should there be a registry of religious affiliation, or article categories covered, or “protests” attended?

Ooooo, the words I’m thinking!

That’s brilliant! Hackers can steal the info and sell info on gun free households to those who want to engage in hassle free robberies, and info on gun owning households to those who want to steal firearms and don’t mind the extra risk.

How about registering all knife owners?
How about registering people who have been prescribed legal but lethal drugs.
How about registering anybody who has been in Jail for violent crimes.
How about registering anybody who has had an abortion in the past ?
How about registering all Lawyers ?
How about registering anybody who writes for newspapers ?

And what would a database be good for?

Do they think criminals are going to register?

side thought:
It would be remarkably easy to “fingerprint” each gun when it is manufactured, and then a gun used in a crime could be traced back in any investigation...
I don’t see that as an infringement of rights, is it? (serious question)

That would achieve some good results, at least- as opposed to this stupid database idea that does nothing except impose restrictions on legal gun owners and make it easier to confiscate them.

A searchable, online database of guns and owners would be a thief’s shopping list. Just pick out the guns you want and wait for the owner to be away for a while.

Or how about this: Make a database of everyone who DOESN’T have a gun. Make it public and searchable for people who might like to go to the houses of people who don’t have guns. Have the police go and periodically search to make sure these guys really don’t have a gun in order to remove them from the database if necessary.

Gun owners may feel picked on, but they are not a persecuted class. They are individuals who have chosen to keep in their homes an object whose chief purpose is to injure or kill, whether in self defense or otherwise.

What "class" does that make us, exactly? The author does not say. Why is the choice to own a material object subject us to less privacy and freedom than any other citizen? The author does not say. Why does she feel her paranoia trumps other people's clearly delineated civil rights? The author does not say, because she hasn't figured it out.

What I did see in the quoted article was the insistence that all of society conform to some completely subjective "freedom from fear" that is so very trendy in the popular media these days. It doesn't work. It wouldn't work in a society consisting of only two people unless one is the master and the other, a slave. Gun owners absolutely are a persecuted class if we allow ourselves to bow to this sort of infantile totalitarianism.

Dear lady, what makes you think the people who own guns and train their children how to responsibly act around them, would want your untrained, TV watching, no sense, lard for brains kids around theirs?

Amen to that.

I may be going out on a limb here, but I'm going to guess that NONE of the killers in Baltimoredishu held permits for their weapons, and NONE was/is a member of the NRA. I'll further guess that ALL of those same killers support obama and democrats completely.
