And I might add both my sisters now live in Suffolk. One on the South Shore and one in the middle of Lawn Guyland.
Only 25% of voters ( which includes a LOT of voter fraud ) turned out to vote for mayor; sadly.
Cruz just lost New York. Threw it away. Not very smart. Who knows, since this is a wave election, if New York is in play.
WALL STREET was probably 98% Conservatives when your grandfather tended bar. And it was afterwards, for a while. The NYSE was a very closed club!
I lived in the Bronx for a bit 20 years ago. Not exactly pleasant. And it was indeed a far different place 50 years ago from what I can recall.
Lower Manhattan is not the Bronx. Queens is not the Bronx. Yonkers is certainly not the Bronx. And Staten Island voted 49/49 last election. And then there’s the Long Island and the vast New York immediately north of NYC. New York is not the Bronx. And yet that’s not to knock Bronx nor the Bronx Bombers...
BTW, good call re Lawn Guyland.
Yes. My family were all Democrats but conservative Catholic Democrats. My Dad and 8 Uncles all did at least 3 years in WW2. Uncle Phil never came back. Bataan.
I know. You're right about that. I couldn't believe how stoopit he was in hitting NY, hitting it again, and then going for the triple by hitting it once again ... really stoopit. I mentioned earlier in this thread about John Rocker and how he disrespected NYC and it's people and how it became a huge controversy ... which eventually cost Rocker his baseball career. The funny thing is that we all agreed with Rocker's observation about NYC, we all laughed about it, but we were also insulted just the same.
Ted Cruz just pulled a John Rocker ... not a smart thing if your running for President. Especially if there's a bigmouth NYC bigwig on the stage running for the same prize.

Yes. My Dad was a steamfitter and his WW2 buddy became his partner. They lived in the Bronx. It was a different place back then. I am 64 now and reside in the liberal hellhole known as Ct. I could escape but family ties Trump my desire to be a full time redneck with my own shooting range. But my gun club is pretty nice.
BTW, one of my buddies Dads worked as an usher at Yankee Stadium so we pretty much lived in the Bronx when we were young. Sitting in the press box when Micked clocked number 500. So yeah, I have good memories of New York.
Can the Democrats win without NY? Because Trump won it tonight, primary and general.
Sounds like the Cruz or Losers to me. Just look at the graphics they post.
NYC Dems used to VERY Conservative. Today, those people would be considered extreme RIGHT WINGERS. :-)
It’s in play if Trump is the nominee.
Bingo. Thank You Steve :)

Connecticut is a lovely state; though, I prefer the Orient to Bridgeport connection when visiting. Also spent some time recently east in Newport, RI. Nice area. Great seafood.
It’s good to reminisce and disagree about NY. And I appreciate your disappointment. It’s a battle. My wife wants to move, but I’m a stubborn bastard that loves the shoreline of Long Island. But damn, it’s so expensive.
I prefer the Orient instead of the Port Jeff connection ...
Hillary was already a NYS Senator come 9/11, as was Schmuky Schumer ... I'm all for invective red-meat in these forums, but really, keep the timeline in perspective.

Haven’t yet read the thread comments...
Kraut and Kelly are NYC people. They don’t have a clue regarding how people between the East and West coasts live their lives and what their belief standards are.
You didnât give a damn about 09/11? Really?

You, like Trump, are trying to twist what Cruz meant by NYC values. ....He was referring to the extreme liberal bent that supports no guns, no smoking, abortion, LGBT, etc.
The people who responded when the twin towers came down are just like the people who responded when the building was bombed in Oklahoma, and the people who would do so anywhere else in the US.
That was a cheap, but effective, twist by Trump.
Seems like all New Yawkers want to do is throw 9/11 into everyone's faces. He's right...the rest of the country doesn't give two hoots about their bubble city except for the poison its culture injects into our society as a whole. New Yawkers need to get over themselves.
