TAMPA, Florida — Defense Secretary Ash Carter said Thursday it appears a navigational error caused the crews of two Navy boats to stray into Iranian waters in the Persian Gulf, where they were detained overnight by Iran and released.

"It does appear — the information that they have given us and through their commanders — that they did stray accidentally into Iranian waters due to a navigation error," Carter said in an interview in Miami with Fusion network. Later, he flew to Tampa to meet with leaders of U.S. Central Command, which oversees the U.S. military in the Middle East.

Logical theory. What has Obama or Kerry ever said that was true??

I’m betting there’s a communication between the boats which will show Kerry is lying his a** off.

There’s so much visual identification involved on these boats. And the old ways of signaling each other has not been laid to bed.

Two US Warships surrender to an Iranian bass boat. Orders from on high indeed.

“It appears”.

Well, I’ll parse that as a LIE, then.

two boats lose all guidance at the same time? really?

didn’t Def.Sec. Carter also say 0bama informed the iranians about the situation, guiding them right to the boats?

personally, sounds like someone did a hand off ... most likely a flash drive or small device.

someone on one of those boats is either connected to 0bama/jarret and/or the agency

That’s my take, too. Congress was trying to stop this money because of a couple of events...including Iran firing at one of our ships. This was just a “money on the way” mission.

“Navigation error???”

These aren’t the days of navigating by sextants and astrolabes...

The most dangerous weapon in the US Army remains a 2nd LT and a map.

Having said that, the Lieutenant in charge needs to navigate his rear end to a nice desk job. I had the unfortunate "pleasure" of serving under officers that should have been kept the hell away from troops.

I believe this about as much as I believe Hillary when she told the Bengazi families that the embassy murders were because of a you tube video.

I believe this about as much as I believed Obama when he said, “If you like your healthcare plan you can keep it”.

That’s about the best theory I’ve heard so far.

My first thought is that they were using some form of electronic navigation, GPS or some other form.

And that the Iranians used some form of electronic weapon to feed false information to their navigation system.

If so, the navy brass will try their best to cover it up.

"And it will have the same effect as the tripping-up of the "internet video caused the Benghazi riots" Administration spin."

Unfortunately true, which is why Obama grows more dangerous by the day. He knows he is untouchable and can do virtually anything to hurt the US now. He will transfer/release all of the GITMO terrorists, transfer the base to Castro; he will bring in thousands of Muslim terrorists to the US, he will thoroughly cripple the military and the domestic economy; he will arrange various surprises in 2016 that will go unanswered by the GOPe and on and on. I can't imaging all that he can do now that he feels invincible.

Those boats have GPS accurate to about 7 inches. That claim is total bunk.

First they told us one of the boats had run aground.

Then they told us there were engine problems.

Now they tell us it was a navigation problem.

Lies. Lies. Lies.

The big problem is that the boats were captured and our Sailors were treated like Prisoners Of War.

How in the world could that have happened?

What a crock of $hit. I’m sure a Navy commander doesn’t know where the ship is located. This is ALL politics!
