HOUSTON, Texas - Presidential candidate Ted Cruz today responded to demands from liberal politicians including Hillary Clinton, Andrew Cuomo and Bill de Blasio to apologize for his criticisms of the liberal progressive values embraced by the New York elites.

Hillary Clinton and Andrew Cuomo and Bill de Blasio have all demanded an apology. I’m happy to apologize:
I apologize to the millions of New Yorkers who have been let down by liberal politicians in that state.
I apologize to the hard working men and women of the state of New York who have been denied jobs because Governor Cuomo won’t allow fracking. Even though there had been many high paying jobs just south in Pennsylvania, New Yorkers are denied the ability to provide for their families.
I apologize to all the pro-life and pro-marriage and pro-second amendment New Yorkers who were told by Governor Cuomo that they have no place in New York because that’s not who New Yorkers are.
I apologize to all the small businesses who have been driven out of New York city by crushing taxes and regulations.
I apologize to the millions of unborn children, many African-American and Hispanic, whose lives have been taken by politicians who relentlessly promote abortion on demand with no limitations.
I apologize to all of the African-American children who Mayor de Blasio tried to throw out of their charter schools that were providing a lifeline to the American Dream.
I apologize to the people of New York who are offended when the New York Daily News lambastes anyone who prays for victims of violence.
I apologize to the people of faith who are ridiculed and insulted by the New York media.
And I apologize to all the cops and the firefighters and 9/11 heroes who had no choice but to stand and turn their backs on Mayor de Blasio, because Mayor de Blasio over and over again stands with the looters and criminals rather than the brave men and women of the law.
And to the millions of conservatives–working men and women in New York, with common sense values, trapped by the failures of your political leaders–I am glad to tell you, help is on the way. 2016, like 1980, will bring America back.

I saw Cruz on Hannity tonight, more insulting New York, LA, Seattle, wherever liberals reside.
I don’t like this generalization on an entire city. I really don’t like the implication that only conservatives are worthy of representation. The thing I hate about our senator, Bob Casey, is that he only represents liberals. Even though he was elected to represent all the people in the state.
I know what Cruz is trying to do, differentiate us from them but I think he’s going about it the wrong way by dissing entire cities.
Ted Cruz’s supporters think that Donald Trump supporters don’t respect him. He’s a very smart man. But this ain’t his time. Chinese and muslims think in terms of centuries. Western nations think in terms of four or eight years.

I am truthful, I don’t like attacks from anyone. I guess the reason I give Trump a pass is because he went up against the world, all GOPe, Dems, and media. If anyone ever needed to “counterpunch” it was Trump.

Cruz slams New Yorkers for being rabidly liberal and lists the harms liberalism does to the lives of normal people.
Trump can insult his opponents all the time (including their physical appearance) and nothing happens to him.
Trump praises Kim Jong-un and Putin as examples of strong leaders and nothing happens.
Now Cruz’s jab at Trump’s home town as a liberal Mecca is outrageous?

I live in New York State (upstate). I love the seasons and the countryside, but the State is basically like the former Eastern Germany.
One party government, left-wing politics rules everything, everything controlled and planned from outside, declining population, lack of economic opportunity (unless you are connected to government in one of its thousands of forms) - oh, and cold winters.

Trump fell right into the trap that Cruz laid right in front of him.
Cruz's "apology" shows that he had this strategy mapped out. The follow up ad (that you know is coming) with the Trump/Russert interview clips where Trump espouses his "New York values" will drive the message home that Trump is nothing close to a conservative.
Cruz has just forced Trump into a box with DeBlasio, Cuomo, Schumer and Clinton. Brilliant! While Trump is playing checkers, Cruz is playing chess.
