He died of complications from ongoing health problems

Glenn Frey, a founding member of the Eagles, has died after suffering from ongoing health problems, the legendary rock band said. He was 67.

Frey died on Monday in New York City following a “courageous” weeks-long battle with rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis and pneumonia, the Eagles said in a statement on their website.

“The Frey family would like to thank everyone who joined Glenn to fight this fight and hoped and prayed for his recovery,” the statement said. “Words can neither describe our sorrow, nor our love and respect for all that he has given to us, his family, the music community & millions of fans worldwide.

Been a bad couple of weeks for ‘70s music stars. I’ll put on Lyin’ Eyes when I get home in remembrance - it’s good listening, though I never thought so when I was a kid.

Three summers ago, we stopped in Winslow, and visited the Standin' on the Corner Park. Very cool, a statue of a man standing on the corner, near a Red flatbed Ford.

Never saw them in concert, their prices were out of my league. Saw Frankie Valli in concert...$60 per ticket, 25 rows from the stage. Also met several band members in the bar, great way to ring in the New Year.

Yep. Music, and American culture in general, has just about collapsed over the past few decades. Most music today is embarrassingly bad.

That was only partly why the Eagles tossed Felder.....it was over pay on a tour. The Eagles used to split money evenly five ways ,but Frey and Henley didn’t like that and kicked Felder out. Felder wanted equal or reasonably close pay to Frey and Henley and each side went to court. Basically, most of the songs that are Eagles hits were written by eithe Frey or Henley other than Hotel California, One of These Night and In the Long Run were co-written by Felder. Henley and Frey thought he was out of line and he was out.

I read Felder’s autobiography. Before reading that I had always thought Henley was the arse in the group. After reading, it was apparent that it was Frey. Frey freely admitted that it was his RNR lifestyle that caused his health problems. 67 is awfully young these days.

.....

During their solo careers, Felder didn't do much so when they all got back together, Frey felt that Felder didn't deserve a full percentage. Apparently, Henley had less of a problem with it and from what I read it was all Frey.... and it originated with the incident with Cranston.

Felder was by far the most talented guitarists of them all (IMO). Maybe one of the best in all of Rock.

I suspect we’ll see a lot of aging rockers die in the next few years. These are guys who lived excessive lifestyles with booze, drugs and promiscuity. Those things take a toll on you and affect your health in later years.

Both Bowie and Fry were about my age.You read that they died after "a long battle with..."

Yet here I am having had excellent health throughout my life except for my hip replacement.Maybe the difference is that I haven't lived a life of excess...no drugs...very little booze...no 100mph on the Interstate...and no one night stands.
