Trump calls for higher ethanol mandate
The Hill ^ | 1/19/2016 | Timothy Kama

Donald Trump said Tuesday that federal regulators should increase the amount of ethanol blended into the nation’s gasoline supply.

Speaking at an event hosted by the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association, Trump, a real estate mogul and the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, said the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ought to follow the ethanol volumes Congress set in 2007.

“The EPA should ensure that biofuel ... blend levels match the statutory level set by Congress under the [renewable fuel standard],” Trump said. The mandate is popular in Iowa, which hosts the nation's first caucuses.

Hahaha. Right.

He’s an ambitious politician with a scorched earth mindset. Very Christian.

Trump (bless his name) is trying to bribe Iowa with other people’s money. Once a liberal still a liberal, the Leopard did not change his spots.

Exactly what is Ted promising to church people to get their votes, other than to continue to support the policies and principles he has always supported?

Precisely!!!

He's pandering.

Doubt if we'll see much change on that issue in a Trump administration.

But he’s not for sale.....

Right.

“...Trump was generally very supportive of the ethanol law, saying he is “100 percent” behind the ethanol industry, a powerful force in Iowa.

“As president, I will encourage Congress to be cautious in attempting to charge and change any part of the RFS,” he said.

Trump tied ethanol to his campaign slogan “Make America Great Again,” saying ethanol reduces dependence on imported oil, which helps energy independence.

“Energy independence is a requirement if America is to become great again. My theme is ‘Make America Great Again.’ It’s an important part of it,” he said.”

This is the last straw for me. I’d rather have Ted, or even Rubio. I like Carson but doubt he could win. Trump is downright scary to me, especially after this. We already have a megalomanic in the White House. Ethanol is the posterboy for what is wrong with our government.

I gave you an example of how Cruz is continuing with his religious themes in New Hampshire, despite the fact that New Hampshire is not Evangelical like the South. That is a man sticking with his convictions and not pandering. Are you purposely being dense?

Oh my God, he's trying to win an election.....next thing you know he'll flip flop and tell the Ethanol beggars to bug off after he wins....the horrors.

It's called politics, wow, something new under the sun.

Let's imagine if a person was running for POTUS, came out and said he was going to end every entitlement/tax break/political corporate buy off, etc that was not Constitutional, would he have a snowballs chance of winning?

Same goes for Cruz or any other candidate.

We'd love it, but the Country isn't under the FreeRepublic bubble of actually adhering to the Constitution and its priciples.

Just curious now, has any candidate actually come right out and said ethanol subsidies must be ended ? Just can’t remember.

And not so small. I had to rebuild the Holley on my mother’s truck twice as ethanol eats the accelerator pump every 2 years. First time it almost started a fire.

All Trump needs is to adopt a southern drawl for speaking engagements in fly-over country.

Food prices will skyrocket, gas will cost more, and you will visit you local garage more often - shortly afterward you will be forced to buy a new car, or an expensive used flex fuel E-85 burner. Of course, as these costs pass through the economy, your dollar will buy less as the cost of all goods and services drastically increase.

But Hey! The Trump is President and isn’t that wonderful - the Republicans played the 2008 Obama card and elected a different version of hope for small change, with absolutely no experience in government, not even a community organizer.

Pandering. If they created a formula whereby snow increased fuel efficiency, Trump would be using that to get votes in NH.

Thanks for the compliment. I am trying not to be dense, but it does take votes to win and Ted is alienating some folks right now. Granted it is in the name of Jesus, but still.

Ted Quixote...

Being a Trump supporter, I’m not happy about this either, however, who was it that said “If you agree with me 100% of the time, you need your head examined”.

Besides I don’t support Trump because he is a ‘conservative’, ‘moderate’ or ‘liberal’, it’s because he’s and AMERICAN. I’m tired of all these labels.
