Cruz: Establishment Has Abandoned Rubio for Trump
National Review ^

Posted on 01/20/2016 4:19:24 PM PST by springwater13

Yes, you read that right. According to Ted Cruz, the so-called Republican establishment is abandoning Florida senator Marco Rubio and uniting behind real-estate mogul Donald Trump. Cruz has long said the Republican primary would come down to two candidates, one a conservative, the other an establishment moderate.

Now that Cruz and Trump are leading the polls, he's trying his hardest to paint Trump as the latter. "We're seeing something remarkable happening in this Republican primary," the Texas senator told reporters on Wednesday. "Right now, the Washington establishment is abandoning Marco Rubio, they’ve made the assessment that Marco can’t win this race, and the Washington establishment is rushing over to support Donald Trump. We're seeing that happen every day, and Mr. Trump is welcoming that support."

This is called desperation, folks. Cruz is pigeon-holding himself as the extremist religious right-wing candidate. So extreme he says the establishment is dumping Rubio and siding with Trump after 7 months of trashing Trump more than any candidate has been trashed before. It just doesn't pass the laugh test especially after the Palin endorsement.

But Teddy can make believe in his fantasies. There just aren't that many hard right conservatives in the party to elect him. His ceiling is 25% and Trump's is over 50%.

You go ahead and support your “moderate” candidate, I’m a hard right conservative, so Ted’s my guy.

I like Ted Cruz. However, you’re not going to get any Dems to cross party lines to vote for him, at the same high amounts as Trump would garner. Lots of Dems have soured on Obama and Hillary, and will support Trump. Unfortunately not so with Cruz.

That is exactly what Cruz is saying.
Internal polls in Iowa must show Cruz(R-Goldman Sachs)
on a downward trend.

Unfortunately for Cruz, Palin’s endorsement is the only news I see on TV.

It is called the truth.

Doesn’t pass the laugh test you say?

Ha, Trump proposed increasing the ethanol mandate the very same day Palin endorsed him. Something Palin was very much against before her “change of heart”. Palin made her bed.

Only the most extreme right wing individuals would consider Trump a moderate at this point. Nobody else does.

Trump has knocked Cruz off his game. Getting Palins endorsement is a big deal.

Has any of Trump's past support of liberal positions made it into law? Has he advocated forcefully for his positions to become law? Has he ever reached across the aisle and engaged in the very bipartisanship and advancement of the Left's agenda that the people are revolting against?
