Cruz: Establishment Has Abandoned Rubio for Trump
National Review ^

Posted on 01/20/2016 4:19:24 PM PST by springwater13

Yes, you read that right. According to Ted Cruz, the so-called Republican establishment is abandoning Florida senator Marco Rubio and uniting behind real-estate mogul Donald Trump. Cruz has long said the Republican primary would come down to two candidates, one a conservative, the other an establishment moderate.

Now that Cruz and Trump are leading the polls, he's trying his hardest to paint Trump as the latter. "We're seeing something remarkable happening in this Republican primary," the Texas senator told reporters on Wednesday. "Right now, the Washington establishment is abandoning Marco Rubio, they’ve made the assessment that Marco can’t win this race, and the Washington establishment is rushing over to support Donald Trump. We're seeing that happen every day, and Mr. Trump is welcoming that support."

YO, dumb ass....I support Cruz too.

You incessant little whiners better get a dose of reality, or you can bend over for Hillary......which is probably your goal anyway.

I’ll take your bet if you take my $100 bet.

That Cruz will not be the GOP nominee.

What say you?

It appears that the establishment of the party recognize the inevitable and are beginning to unite the party for the election

Michael Medved is the GOPe’s bellwether. A few weeks ago, he was talking up Rubio, but I haven’t heard so much recently.

We should be welcoming any dems that sincerely want to crossover into our camp. we shouldn’t be standing at the gate telling them they aren’t pure enough to come in. We won’t win by blocking the gate.

Just yesterday I predicted that the turn to the GOPe was coming and sure enough there isn’t enough chapstick to go around for all the GOPe ass kissing going on.

Hearing a rumor that a chamber of Commerce endorsement for Trump is coming soon as well.

The GOPE new found interest in TRUMP was predictable. They’ve been cooked, after all, this cycle.

If Cruz were smoking the field, nationally, the GOPE would have been forced to bend the knee to him.

But, Cruz is strategically smart to use a TRUMP tactic, to turn what is clearly a positive for TRUMP, in his successful effort coalesce Republican voters, and Cruz is turning it into a negative, by labeling it. How TRUMP like.

Maybe that will sell in IOWA, for Cruz, but it is TRUMP who is still is charring the field, in the polling.

TRUMP, 2016

Have a reading comprehension problem do we? He will be cuddling up with the dems in congress is what I said. In other words he is a democrat in sheep clothing.

Trump’s plan is to get America working again so the tax base expands so we can sustain reasonable spending levels.

Yeah, but he doesn't say how he would do any of that other than erecting trade barriers (which would actually be counter-productive) Saying you want to make America great again is nice, but aspirational statements like that are meaningless unless he provides a plan than can be judged on the merits.

Why did Cruz vote for TPA, after helping Ryan, that consistent conservative, roll it out and get it established? Why did Cruz vote for the Corker amendment and then proceed to campaign against it?

My understanding is that TPP was secret but was initially presented as free trade, which Cruz supports, so he supported TPP. As more details about it came to light, he realized it was not actually free trade, so he changed his support for the measure.

>>They see Trump as someone who’s going to kick ass and take names, and they’re going to support that regardless of what he said in the past. <<

Exactly. They see Trump for what he says he is, instead of what he said he was in the past. Now, ask yourself this: Was he more likely to be telling the truth about his personal philosophy when he had nothing to gain by lying, or now, when he has everything to gain by lying?

But go ahead and hop on that Trump bandwagon and get carried along by the music and the crowds.

Some of us are weighing Trump’s past statements a lot more carefully.

BTW have you noticed how seamlessly the thinking went from ‘Trump is gonna kick progressive ass’ to ‘Trump is gonna bring everyone together and to hell with the purists’?

That’s not really what you said actually. he isn’t a Democrat in sheep’s clothing. he may not be the most conservative candidate running (that’s actually debatable) and he might not be the evangelical’s favorite, but that doesn’t make him a Democrat. I get that you guys have to say that though just like I have to say that Ted Cruz isn’t even eligible to be President so I don’t know why you’re wasting your time, energy, and money on him.

I was for Cruz, but I’m losing my support for him very quickly.

Too bad we can’t trust the media. But that will never happen.

Careful, bro. I wouldn’t put it past the hardline Sunni Trumpeteers to drive a Nissan pickup full of fetilizer into the side of your house...

Nope I doubt he will.

But I am not proclaiming on a conservative website a lifelong narcassistic Liberal will govern from the right or even do what he is stumping on.

Not a personal jab at you just a general statement.

You would think so but from the looks of the slaves here at FR, they'll quietly shuffle back to the plantation like they're told.
