Late stage dementia is so sad!

He actually thinks anybody cares what he has to say anymore.

Didn't he also come out against Reagan?

I am old enough to remember when the GOPe cried in anguish over how nominating Reagan would ruin the party and guarantee the re-election of Jimmy Carter.

The GOPe always points to Goldwater in 1964 as proof that the sheeple will not elect a Conservative. The fact is that the only reason Goldwater lost was because President Kennedy had been assassinated less than one year before.

If Kennedy had not been assassinated then Kennedy would have lost to Goldwater. Because Kennedy had just been assassinated his successor, LBJ, was unbeatable. Less than four years later, when emotions over the Kennedy assassination had died down, LBJ couldn't get re-elected dog catcher and dropped out of the race.

Let's face it - 1/2 of America (at least those who actually remember him) thought Dole died years ago.

Dole is still alive? I thought he died years ago along with Jimmy Carter.

You know the only reason Clinton does not look so bad is because the 1994 Congress succeeded in forcing him to do his job. Like signing the welfare legislation after refusing many bills. Plus others. If you remember that the first two things he and the misses did was to push for a huge omnibus bill and healthcare, just what Obama did later successfully. The 94 Congress led by Gingrich minimized the damage the Clintons tried to do to us.

Dole and McCain and Trent Lott are people who hated Gingrich and Reagan and worked like dogs to side with their buds on the other side of the aisle.

And now they think they have enough clout to tell us who we should vote for?

I remember what happened back then and they are still on my crap list.

Bob Dole says that electing Cruz would finish the GOPe? Hell yes let’s vote for Cruz, that alone would be worth it!

Trump’s party affiliation has changed over the years. Until 1987, he was a Democrat.[4] Then he was a Republican from 1987–99.[3] He then switched to the Reform Party from 1999–2001.[3] From 2001–09 he was a Democrat again,[3] and switched to the Republican Party again from 2009–11.[3] An independent from 2011–12, he returned to the Republican Party where he has remained from 2012–present

Let’s give credit to Sen. Bob Dole:

He has positively identified the true outsider and anti-establishment candidate in this race.

What we are seeing with Trump is a nationalistic populist movement sucking in a lot of good patriotic people. People better figure Trump out pretty quick or we will be in more trouble than we are already in. Trump is no true conservative, but for a few slip-ups that betray him, he could get an Oscar for his performance. This is no more than 1930s and 2008 populism déjà vu in a completely different cloak. Trump is using the modus operandi described in Eric Hoffer's 1951 book, "The True Believer" - Thoughts On The Nature Of Mass Movements. Trump has found a void and has created a cult following. He is taking legitimate issues and concerns and using them to generate a fanatical mass movement of "True Believers" -- intoxicated Trumpaholics, and Tump is their cult leader. There is no way to talk to many of them; their minds have been snatched. Many will not realize the fantasy until it all falls down. History repeats. It is déjà vu all over again.

Absolutely.

Clinton refused to submit anything close to a balanced budget, said it would be disastrous for the country, and then took credit when the Republican controlled Congress did it. Same thing with "workfare," requiring able bodied welfare recipients to get a job.

The stock market is considered a leading indicator of the economy. It was mediocre for the first two years of Clinton's administration, until after the 1994 election when Republicans took control of the House, Senate and most of the state governorships. The stock market then took off and continued its meteoric climb until the Democrats took back control of the Senate.

While Bob Dole still considers himself to be a republican, he went on MSNBC today to dismiss Trump as being "over the top" and Cruz as being "extreme" while stating that he might not show up to vote for either of them if they become the 2016 nominee, suggesting he might purposely "oversleep" on Election Day. Dole is also discounting Trump's dishonest and racist attacks on Barack Obama, instead referring to the President as "a very good man."

The 92-year old former Kansas senator, who was defeated by Bill Clinton in the 1996 presidential election, said he questions Cruz's allegiance to the Republican Party and his ability to work with Congress.

1. I cannot express enough my admiration and gratitude for Bob Dole's service to this nation, and the suffering that he went through because of his wounds. He is a genuine hero, a perfect example of the Greatest Generation in this respect. 2. As a politician, I know that he tried to serve the people of his state and this country. However, I believe that he got a severe case of Beltway-itis, complicated by a near terminal case of GOP Establishment Ass-Kissing Syndrome. Dole's time as a pol is over. He couldn't defeat a corrupt, sleazeball, philandering jackass, and that should have been the last we heard of him (Dole, not Clinton). Whatever his other virtues and accomplishments, he needs to put a sock in it. What good does it do the Party that he claims to like or favor so much, to air dirty laundry like this. He's near the top of the polls, and there's at least a reasonable chance that he could be the nominee - so why lambast him like that if you're a Republican? Even the RNC is starting to make (the appropriate) noises about supporting whomever is the nominee for election in November - why can't Dole? He's not as bad as McCain, but he certainly seems to be trying to give old Juan a run for his money.

OK, TeamTrump is stuck with Dole, and CruZone is stuck with Glen Beck. Can I wave the flag of peace and offer to have them both be bound and gagged in a Turkish prison until the summer?

Trump was, until last June, a businessman who had to deal with whatever politicians had an influence (or whom he thought would have an influence) over whether and how much money he would make. He was not a politician.

Businessmen literally cannot afford to tick off pols on either side - like bartenders. Rich businessmen pretty much HAVE to donate to both sides - see how far you get without greasing the right palms in some fashion or another. This particular rich businessman operates almost exclusively in big cities, most of which are controlled by Dems. He operates there not because of the politics, but because cities are where the biggest concentrations of wealth are, and thus the greatest opportunities to make money.

You want real news? Find out that Ted Cruz donated to Bill Clinton’s campaign, or when Bernie Sanders donated to Reagan’s - and you won’t find it, because in the political industry (and make no mistake, it IS an industry) you just don’t do that kind of thing. But most other industries have a different set of rules.

That’s quite an indictment. No doubt other highly influential political figures like Charlie Crist will be speaking out soon.
