Dangerous Winter Storm Jonas to Bring Crippling Snowstorm, Major Ice Threat; Blizzard Warnings
The Weather Channel ^ | January 21, 2016 | Weather.com

Posted on 01/21/2016 9:56:06 AM PST by Tolerance Sucks Rocks

Blizzard warnings have been issued for the Baltimore and Washington D.C. metro areas, and blizzard watches extend northward to the Philadelphia and New York City metro areas as Winter Storm Jonas begins to take shape. The storm is expected to deliver heavy snowfall to at least 15 states, and heavy ice accumulations, strong winds and coastal flooding will add to the storm's impact as it carves a path from the nation's heartland through the South and onward to the East Coast now through Sunday.

As of Thursday morning, just over 73 million people – or roughly one in every four Americans – were covered by either a blizzard watch, blizzard warning, winter storm watch, winter storm warning, winter weather advisory, or freezing rain advisory from southeast Nebraska to the Carolinas to the New York City area.

Sometimes it snows in the winter, sometimes not as much.

Plenty of warning here, take Friday off and clean up Saturday - no problem.

It is not just the anti-preppers it is the hard core, but virulent gang of cyber ‘thugs’ that have all but taken over FR. And it isn’t eh election cycle alone I have been here through election cycles, what is going on now is something far worse and far uglier.

It like my parents taught you when you were young about who you hang out with. Though there are still some very good people on here there is clearly a core element that as I said have all but taken over.

“When did they start naming “winter storms”??”

Since the drama queen liberals of the northeast still can’t seem to figure out that it snows in the northeast in winter and get all scared about snow. No one else has a problem with it.

Has anyone looked at the radar map from Weather.com.

It’s weird. It is as if there is a mountain range blocking the snow from Washingdon DC and ocean city:

I’m not saying there is some technology doing this, but that is the weirdest snowfall pattern I’ve ever seen.

The bad news for us is that a foot of snow is getting dumped on our area AFTER a ton of freezing rain.

Several neighbors were running to the store yesterday in preparation for the storm coming.

What will these people do when the economy collapses and they can’t just run to the store when they only have supplies for 3 days?

I don’t mind storms. They are good practice to make sure I’ve thought of everything possible for a survival situation. I think of them as a challenge.

Ignore all the negative posts. There are people who visit here that appreciate your input - don’t let a few stop you for your right to free speech. People who lose their cool to the mental max are just that, mental! You provide very valuable information and are appreciated. Now the only thing left is for us to take the advice or not - our choice. And, if others don’t like what you have to say then they don’t have to click on it. And of course, America is a little angrier and less patient these days. So, I will stay tuned for your next post. God bless!

That last pic with the shelves and food on the floor must be after the ferals went through. Hmm, looks like that first one has the same lazy employees as there is food behind the dairy case that no one has bothered to restock. That’s lost profits. Lost profits means no pay raises and lay offs.

The one with the cheese looks like my store every day. Can’t get the pics off my phone to post.

http://www.boston.com/news/weather/gallery/013108_78blizzard/

When the storm began moving into eastern Massachusetts on the afternoon of Feb. 6, thousands of people were freed from their jobs so they could get home safely. But the wind-blown snows began falling at well over an inch an hour, and soon the occupants of some 3,000 cars and 500 trucks became stranded in rapidly-developing snowdrifts along Rt. 128. Fourteen people would die from carbon monoxide poisoning as they huddled in their snow-trapped vehicles.

YAY. More silly names for storms. We need divers names for all weather events.

Heat wave Shaniqua
Cold spell Emilio
Pleasant weather Pavel
Thunder storm Bob

Yes, diversity is key. It would not be fair if some types of weather have the opportunity to receive names, and others do not ;)

Wow, I had not noticed a lot of negative comments—maybe I just scan past them. I wish people would stop posting nasty snide stuff on threads they don’t agree with ....it is rude & getting really old.

I truly appreciate all the information you have brought to FR over the years :) Thank you!!
