Donald Trump holds a commanding lead in Iowa as Sen. Bernie Sanders takes control of the Democratic race in the critical first-in-the-nation voting state, according to a new CNN/ORC poll released Thursday.
Trump leads Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, who is in second place in the GOP race, among likely Republican caucus-goers, 37% to 26%. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Florida, is in third at 14%, the only other Republican in double digits. Ben Carson failed to register half of Rubio's support and is in fourth place at 6%.
Sanders, meanwhile, has opened up an eight-point lead over Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, leading her in Iowa 51% to 43% among likely Democratic presidential caucus-goers.

The polls always get more accurate as they get closer to the election. Most of us here on FR knew all along that cruz was not ahead in Iowa, and never was. It was just a ploy by the msm media to try and take Trump out. It was cruel really, toying with the cruzers like that and getting their hopes up. But there never was any chance cruz was going to win even a single state, never.

Crazy Bernie will beat her in Iowa and will beat her in New Hamphire where he has a 30 point lead. She won’t make it. It’s too late and momentum is on his side.
Trump took Hillary out with a couple of tweets and a sunday morning interview. Most people had forgotten about the sex scandals of the 90’s.
This is exciting. If Ted Cruz receives 26% support in Iowa as predicted, he’ll be the first outspoken anti-ethanol candidate to ever win more than 5% in the Iowa caucuses.
Whether we get Hillary, Sanders, or Trump it will be more years of Godless leadership in the WH.
We deserve what we get.
