National Review just handed Donald Trump the Election
Republican Newswatch ^ | 1/22/16 | DOUG IBENDAHL

Posted on 01/22/2016 8:39:33 PM PST by Amntn

National Review's publication of the collective anti-Donald Trump missives from 22 self-appointed conservative potentates has caused quite a stir in Republican circles.

The nationwide responses range from, "Wait, I thought National Review went out of business years ago," to "Ed Meese? Seriously?"

The Gang of 22 have officially become parodies of themselves. One would have to reach back to the days of Richard Nixon and Spiro Agnew to lift an adequate quote to describe them.

"Nattering nabobs of negativism," "vicars of vacillation," "pusillanimous pussyfooters," "the decadent few," "ideological eunuchs," "the effete corps of impudent snobs," or "the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history" - take your pick, because they all apply about equally well to each and every one of them.

So clueless is the Gang of 22 they can't even see how they've stumbled right into the narrative Trump's been communicating so successfully for months. Just like the elected officials from both parties, the Gang of 22 has been GREAT at complaining about stuff, year, after year, after year.

But getting anything accomplished? Not so much.

Many of the Gang of 22 have been hanging around and chattering for decades, and some are active cogs in the Conservative Entertainment Complex, deriving their income by pandering to conservative anger while offering no real solutions.

Donald Trump represents a threat to these ineffectual poohbahs in the same way he represents a threat to do-nothing public officials.

Jealousy is also seriously at work here. Trump is inspiring and exciting a broad spectrum of the country like no member of the Gang of 22 ever has, or ever will.

In just seven months of campaigning, Trump already has more Americans listening to a Republican message than the entire Gang of 22 could muster over decades. Trump understands that before you can advance the ball, you have to convince people to take time from their busy lives to listen. No one on the GOP side since Ronald Reagan has accomplished that like Trump.

No one else has come close, and certainly no one from that "effete corps of impudent snobs" to which the National Review thinks we should defer.

The Gang of 22 had their chance. They've done a lot of bitching over the years, and it paid well for some.

But Americans care about results. They can plainly see that all of the empty talk from the Gang of 22 got us eight years of Barack Obama, and a loss in pretty much every conservative battle there was to lose.

At the same time when Americans look at Donald Trump's life they get a lot of assurance that here is finally a man who shares their focus on actually getting results. And Trump returns the respect by recognizing regular hard-working Americans are a lot smarter than any of the "ideological eunuchs" in all of their pontificating glory.

The "pusillanimous pussyfooters" love to nitpick Trump's words, but what voters are looking for this year is competence and accomplishment. Donald Trump has an actual record of delivering both in spades.

The Gang of 22 is right to be terrified. A President who could get things done would expose them as the irrelevant creatures they truly are.

It can't happen fast enough.

Trump’s strength comes from the fact that he has all the right enemies, and 22 of them lined up and gave him an endorsement.

And the right friends! Bob Dole, Mitch McConnell, Hill and Bill... /s

Everybody at Nationl Review is on Fox News Payroll, which pays a lot more than NR.

Kelly is working with these losers and Karl Rove.

I’m glad I know about Cloward-Piven, Saul Alinsky and Pigford, which I didn’t know about 8 years ago, despite my previous 8 years of FR education. I have Glen Beck to thank for that.

Imagine giving this advice to a Republican presidential candidate: What if you stopped calling yourself a conservative and instead just promised to make America great again?

What if you dropped all this leftover 19th-century piety about the free market and promised to fight the elites who were selling out American jobs?

What if you just stopped talking about reforming Medicare and Social Security and instead said that the elites were failing to deliver better healthcare at a reasonable price?

What if, instead of vainly talking about restoring the place of religion in society something that appeals only to a narrow slice of Middle America. You simply promised to restore the Middle American core, the economic and cultural losers of globalization to their rightful place in America?

What if you said you would re store them as the chief clients of the American state under your watch, being mindful of their interests when regulating the economy or negotiating trade deals?

Amen! When Trump is president, these hacks- & quite a few more like them, will be out of a job. Maybe they can find something productive to do with their lives. For a change.

There have been notable revolutions in history. This election is a new paradigm/revolution re our voting choice for president. The GOPe cartel is panicking that we will pick our president not them.

We finally get to pick our candidate. not a cartel of elite Beltway Ivy Leaguers picking our candidate. An evil cartel, which has zero interest in America, us and our families. They only care about maintaining their power and control. They are terrified that we will pick our candidate and ignore their rants and ill advise.

The NRO people are so ensconced in the Washington DC Beltway Political Class and Cocktail Party Circuit that they are completely out of touch with a) real conservatives and b) average Americans. They proved that with the 22 "intellectual " screeds they published and hyped across media and the Internet. They vastly underestimate flyover country. They don't CARE or even understand flyover country. But we can see right through NRO and we see that they are the GOP Elite Establishment/Government Class/Oligarchy that got us into this mess and quite understandably is freaked out that Donald Trump might win and end the Uniparty system and Government/Media/Educrat/NGO Complex that lives behind gates in gated communities surrounded by security guards with GUNS (while they wish to take OUR guns away.) People SEE that. Trump, like Ronald Reagan, goes AROUND the media, the media filter, and talks directly to the people in ways they can understand. Trump hits on a half dozen top messages in EVERY STUMP SPEECH, and every one of those top themes is 100% based in patriotism, pride for America, nationalism, and a smack down of the GLOBALISM of NRO and the Washington Cartel that has almost ruined us.

Just wait 'til Mrs. Cruz appears---she is the expert on complex derivatives, and "free trade" (which is WTO code words for America gets screwed, can't get their goods into other countries, while the banks and crony capitalists send our jobs to these foreign countries, and what jobs remain in America are filled with the likes of the ONE HALF MILLION H1-B visas on Cruz's agenda, and wages and lifestyles of the USA are intentionally lowered to that of turd world countries.) Folks, H1-B is the GOOD jobs, the computer techie, business professional, engineer---and there are thousands of unemployed Americans in every city who are overqualified, who'd gladly accept the job, but instead Cruz wants to give the 500,000 jobs to INDIANS, then make the Americans who are LOSING their jobs TRAIN their India replacements.

Mr. and Mrs. Cruz are GLOBALISTS. We conservatives believe that if we don't have a border, we don't have a nation, as Mr. Trump says in every speech.

First time caller Alex. Honestly- I have not read all the posts in this thread, but I am going to reply. Romney- Me? did not want/did not vote. Ryan- elected by his peers to be Speaker. Now- justification for why MILLIONS of Americans are fleeing from the GOP, and running into the arms of DJ Trump. Ryan = GOPe. GOPe = business as usual.
