Hillary Clinton in interview with Barbara Walters on 20/20, January 12, 1996. I transcribed the following from a youtube video.

HC: We need more parents to both get married and stay married in order to support children. There will always be exceptions.

BW: If you had a teenage daughter who became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion, not have the baby, would you support it?

HC: Uh oh gosh, I can't even imagine that decision. I'd I'd I would do whatever I could to support her um and it would be a terrible decision, and we can avoid that being a choice if children are given good, responsible information and an ability to say "NO" um at an earlier age.

BW: Do you feel that a parent should be notified if an under-aged daughter wants to have an abortion?

HC: I believe in parental notification. I think there are exceptions, there are situations in which the family is so dysfunctional that parental notification is not appropriate, but in general I do believe, I think that families should be part of helping their children through this.

Thank you very much for posting this exchange. If anyone were to remind her of this today, she would probably say she as "evolved" on the issue.

Good to hear from you! Hope you are well.
