Real-estate mogul Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that his campaign was endorsed by a big-name leader in the evangelical community: Liberty University president Jerry Falwell Jr.
"Great honor- Rev. Jerry Falwell Jr. of Liberty University, one of the most respected religious leaders in our nation, has just endorsed me!" Trump wrote on Twitter. ...
"It is truly an honor to receive Jerry's endorsement. Not only is he a high-quality person, with a wonderful family, whom I have great respect for - I also consider him a very good friend and his support means so much to me," Trump said in a statement.

No offense, but other than the fact that he took over for his dad, I know nothing about Falwell’s conservative credentials. So color me unimpressed.

Okay, so to my surprise a number of people I have varying degrees of respect for have now endorsed Trump.

Frankly, this troubles me on a number of levels. One, why select Trump over Cruz? Two, I really ask myself why Trump. Are they deceived? Certainly, I consider I could be the one who is wrong, but I just have this uneasy feeling about Trump and that he is all but certain to turn his back on Conservatives and conservative principles he claims fealty to.
This is huge. Trump will parley this to a staggering victory in Iowa ,in my opinion. Fox was beside itself with Trumps clear lead this morning. I just called Fox and let them know how offensive it was to put MyGyn kelly back on the “interview” panel( after she revealed she is a partisan Rino hack) and told them to get ready to carry her out on a political stretcher because Trump was going to fly right at her. Instead of reporting the story-— She will be the story. Not going to be pretty. Go Trump go!!
There is a disconnect between evangelicals and Donald Trump, all the more so because there are candidates so closely aligned with the evangelical movement: Ted Cruz and Mike Huckabee.
Ok, here it is. The most powerful Christian message that Trump conveys: Trump promises to protect the Western and Christian world. It is a message that he gets across to the voters better than any other presidential candidate.

I’m for Cruz but I’m not anti-Trump. I’ve wondered as you have and the folks you listed are intelligent believers. I think they know he isn’t one of them in the evangelical sense. Although he may not promote their social causes, I think there’s a sense he won’t get in the way either. So, I’m left to think they are putting more emphasis on what they think he’ll do for the country in other areas. He doesn’t have a record yet, so it’s a risk but if he’s the nominee I’ll have no issue voting for him based on what I know now....

If Trump thinks Fallwell Junior is “one of the most respected religious leaders in our nation”, that tells you something about Trump.
He is free to make a bad choice. I only ask if any money changed hands, donations made or promised to Falwell interests.
Jerry Falwell Jr is an attorney, not a religious leader.

Sad when an evangelical person like Falwell endorses Trump people say he was bought. But never do they think that for those with Cruz. Apparently even Christian leaders are fodder for trashing to Cruz “conservatives” How Cbristian of you.
