Trump isn't the first top-tier presidential candidate to skip a debate. Ronald Reagan did not attend a Republican debate ahead of the 1980 Iowa caucuses, which he lost to George H.W. Bush. Reagan went on to the win the nomination and the presidency.

That won’t stop Meeeeeeegyn Kelly from attacking Trump with snarky remarks. I will laugh if they try to ignore that he was even supposed to be there as if they have this mighty clout, but in reality they realize they lost this battle and the Donald never loses.

Gee, It’s come out that Murdoch supports open borders (surprise, surprise) and FNC follows. So you’re siding with an open borders network and calling it conservative? Trump wanting to close the borders and stop Syrian refugee immigration is more in line with my own conservative thoughts. I’ll take that over an increase in H1-B visas.

The RNC has invited him to other debates?

The RNC was participant in Fox’s plot to bring in the muslim who compared Trump to Hitler.

“Why did he skip it?”

Reagan was leading widely in the polls and his campaign assumed it was unnecessary to spend more time on Iowa so he skipped the debate. Bush won Iowa, and took the lead in polls in New Hampshire. Fortunately, in the next debate Reagan was outstanding.

Reagan was always a classy adult not a rude vicious narcissistic clown like the NY liberal.

I'm a Cruzer, but I'm OK with Trump.

Why all the screaming at me about how you feel about Trump, I don't give a fat rat's ass about your opinions or feelings.

You might be proud but you ain't right.

I think the rules are that the RNC will invite the top contendors to each debate. Of course, the invitations being continmgent on who is ahead “at the moment,” no invitations have been sent. But as long as Trump is in the top three, he’ll get invites. He can bar himself by enagaing in a debate outside of the RNC system. Or, he can ply it debate by debate, which is the smarter way to proceed.

You're not suggesting DT shares anything in common with Ronald Reagan are you?

Did Ronald Reagan tell the good people of Iowa, they were "stupid" for not favoring him, did he tell everyone another candidate was a nasty person, or how about did Ronald Reagan tell everyone "he had no reason to pray to God for forgiveness, as he had nothing for which he needed to be forgiven?"

Nah, no comparison at all other than Reagan skipping a debate.

I have no problem with DT skipping a previously unscheduled debate. At least we won't be "treated" by DT's various mugging before cameras (like Eddie Haskell might do) and we'll also be spared DT's inane, idiotic bragging to us all about "how rich, powerful, makes and humble" he is!

Is Cruz up in Texas? I know it’s been a while, but “fairly recently” I thought I saw Trump up in a Texas poll....but in any event, it’s a long time till Texas...

and your OK with what you call a snarky press release? Megyn is this YOU????????

Well if that's all it takes to generate a major-league hissy-fit from Trump then what's going to happen when he's president and the Fox press release seems complementary by comparison to what people say about him then?

There was a person at a local Trump rally in Florida holding a sign made with the picture of Jesus and it had Trumps face and it said Trump is God, and it was used in a mockingly way and of course the media pit of 20-30 cameras all panned to that guy and were talking to him (of course) figuring they’d use this guy to make Trump supporters look nuts, when the guy was really a liberal protester.

Not at all! Fox is owned by muzzies.

Which I suppose explains Trump's plan to ban all Muslims from entering the country.

Rating the debate and nondebate on Iowa hustings
Christian Science Monitor, The (Published as Christian Science Monitor, The (Boston, MA)) - January 9, 1980
Author/Byline: Godfrey Sperling Jr.,

Staffocratic nondebate? The answers, based on editorial comment and the views of politicians from both parties:

* The GOP was the only clear winner in the confrontation of six of its presidential candidates.

The consensus of observers is that all of the debaters — John B. connally, George Bush, Sens. Howard H. Baker Jr. and Robert Dole, US Reps. John B. Anderson and Philip M. Crane — came through on television as intelligent, articulate, and as men of high caliber.

Whether Ronald Reagan, by his absence, was the “loser,” as some analysts were saying just after the debate, is not clear. Politicians from around the United States say they see no signs of erosion of support for Mr. Reagan. He remains the distinct front-runner among Republicans.

(snip)

But Reagan didn’t skip the debate because he could not handle a girl reporter who was not nice to him.

Everything Trump does is for show and Trump will not win in a Reagan type landslide. Current polling shows aver 20% of Republicans will not vote if he is the nominee. There is also a large chunk of independents who do not care for Trump as well. While his supporters love his brashness, forked tongue and his lack of detail and substance, there is large part of the electorate who are put off by Trump and find to be a bitter and vile man.

He will have a hard time in the election. He still loses to Hillary in most polls and is not polling well with independents.

From my perspective, if he can’t handle Megyn Kelly in a debate, how is he going to be able handle a hostile press if he is POTUS?

Trump is unstable and is not fir to be President.

Actually that would be great and it would demolish the Fox debate. I hope Trump has this up his sleeve.

FOX in this case - which is supposed to be the only fair and balanced network still in the business

And I laugh every time I see them say that.

... is all in trying to sabotage Trump and that is OK with you?

By being hard or unfair or mean to him? Sabotage? Really? What is Trump going to do if he's president when the entire media is against him? What kind of fit is he going to throw then?

Do you realize Fox is not any different than CNN MSNBC or the rest only they pretend to be conservative?

The one thing you said that I can completely agree with.

And look at Trump’s body language compared to Obozo. Trump looks confident and Obowma looks like a weak insignificant man-child.
