Trump went boom because he got in a media firestorm over equating Mexican illegal immigrants with rapists. And that’s the kind of loose, unnecessarily controversial talk that will be a much bigger issue in the general election, compiled in ads by Democrats and quickly sink his chances of winning.
I guess we’ll see what happens in the future, won’t we?
Incidentally, most of what I posted yesterday was simply applying the same standards to Cruz as many of his most intense supporters apply to Trump. You didn’t like it, did you? How d’you think that we like it?
Treating Cruz as some kind of immaculate conservative messiah isn’t helping him. It’s more breeding resentment with those who don’t support him. On the opposite side, I’ve found that people who agree that Trump is flawed but support him anyway tend to get a better reception and actually sway people more (at least after the initial lines have been drawn) than those who are fanatics.
But you have your views, and I have mine. And the way things are going, n’er the twain shall meet.
