In an essay to mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Anne Frank's stepsister accused Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump of "acting like another Hitler."
Eva Schloss, now 86, was a friend of Frank's in Amsterdam after their families fled Nazi Germany in the 1930s. Her mother, Fritzi, would marry Otto Frank, Anne's father, after World War II.
"If Donald Trump become(s) the next president of the U.S. it would be a complete disaster," she told Newsweek on Wednesday. "I think he is acting like another Hitler by inciting racism."
The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Schloss survived Auschwitz while Frank and her mother died at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, and Anne Frank's diary became a famous account of life as a Jewish family under Hitler's Nazi Germany.
Schloss, who lives in London, also criticized the U.S. and Western European governments for their response to the Syrian crisis, likening the refugees' experience in 2016 "to what we went through" in Nazi-controlled Europe.

It's mind bozzling the American Jewish community voted for the muslim in chief twice.
Lol!
Stolen from “The Producers.”
How many of these folks compared Reagan to Hitler back in the day?
If she wanted to compare him, then she could have used FDR, who had Japanese citizens placed in internment camps.
Not that Trump would do a similar thing.
Inventory build up brings economic stagnation and maybe even depression.
Back in the early 19th century, as the industrial revolution was taking hold, university scholars were trying to understand what was causing distortions in the economy. Everyone knew that it was the result of industrialization. One of the fixes was offered by Karl Marx as Communism. That was, however, not realistic. The western world settled for Maynard Keynes.
I remember hearing that!
Cheers!
Agreed. This is actually pretty revealing in that this woman want some sympathy for the invading ME’ers flooding Europe? She’s more than slightly confused and therefore, her comparison is void.
Never checked on her age but if she’s a step-sister then she must be pushing late 80’s or early 90’s and might be a bit frail in the head ...
Sad. Someone is using her.
She’s 86, old enough to know better. My father is 92 and knows right from wrong. But I get your point, not every senior is as blessed as my father.
Good for him. I’m thinking she’s feeling sorry for those ‘guests’ and is selective in what she hears about them.
I have always said prejudice is driven by the normal desire of people to be with people just like them.
Racism is driven by hatred. Sadly, it has been used so often it has lost it’s meaning.
“The western world settled for Maynard Keynes.”
I know, and honestly that saddens me. I think that his theories, as applied, have caused great harm to the western world.
I do agree with you about the NAZI governing class using a weapons build up as a method to creating a robust economy. I just never want to forget that they meddled in all areas of the economy..
“BTW CSM, great talking to you, obviously a real thinker”
Thank you and I appreciate you as well. It was very refreshing to be on a thread with fellow FReepers that are interested in intellectualism.
Have a great day FRiend.
Good pictures, thanks for posting. I will add one little bit of information. Remember, Iran used to be called Persia. Then in 1935 they changed the name in honor of Hitler. When Iran is translated, it is Aryan.
You’re right on that one. Even the lives of others. The competent ones were kept at the bottom and the fanatic followers were promoted. Heinrich Boll 1972 Nobel Prize for literature was kept in infantry for the entire duration of the war. Too genuine, couldn’t be trusted.
