Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton said in an interview aired Wednesday night that special interest groups cannot buy her to gain access and influence as she continues to face scrutiny for taking large sums of money in speaking fees from the financial industry in recent years.
Speaking over the phone with MSNBCâs Chris Matthews, Clinton was asked how she will respond to impending attack ads from her main primary challenger, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I, Vt.), who is expected to target her ties to Wall Street.
âAs anybody who knows me knows, you canât buy me,â Clinton said in response, defending her commitment to regulate financial firms and weaken Wall Streetâs influence.
âIâve been standing up and fighting and getting knocked around for years trying to get things done that I think would improve peoplesâ lives, and Iâm not going to stop,â Clinton added. âAnd that includes anybody trying to, you know, mess with our financial system.â
Clinton described Sandersâ attacks as âdisappointingâ and a âlow blow,â saying the Senator from Vermont is becoming âincreasingly personal with his attacksâ and breaking his pledge to not conduct a negative campaign.
The Democratic frontrunner has come under fire in recent weeks for having connections to Wall Street and receiving significant amounts of money from the financial industry during a primary that has largely focused on targeting Wall Street firms to address income inequality.
A New York Times report from last week detailed how Bill and Hillary Clinton have taken in more than $125,000,000 in speaking fees since they left the White House, much of which came from Wall Street-linked financial firms.

Under our current tax laws, Hillary’s what we would call a “capitalized lease obligation.” IOW, for accounting purposes, it’s treated as a purchase.
Hillary can be had cheaper than a $2 whore on Saturday night at a Naval port.
lol
Why would she say this? It only brings attention to the subject.
It’s like a guy blurting that he doesn’t have herpes when nobody was asking.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!
Her audition speech for the job opening at Mad Magazine.
No one buys a hooker; he only rents her.
Not bought, only rented.
Additional payments required for additional performances...
Hillary is just like Minnie Pearl... the price tag is right on her hat!
I think everyone should send a few bucks to help circulate this outstanding and clever movie produced by FR's own 'doug from upland'.
THE WALL STREET-CLINTON CONNECTION
Socialist Bernie Sanders is really, really "for the people". At the first Demo/rat debate, he regurgitated his disgust with Wall Street, and those he feels contribute to (sob) "inequality" in America.
Surprisingly, Bernie l-o-v-e-s Hillary despite hating Wall Street hogging all the wealth leaving the working classes w/ nothing. So it was a real tear-jerker when "kindly compassionate" Bernie stoutly defended Hillary's criminality WRT her State Dept emails....as Hillary glowed w/ approval.
OH, I JUST CAN'T WAIT---Will be such fun to see Bernie defend THIS Hillary.
Then-US Sen Clinton and then-Sen Corzine on the Capitol steps.
EXHIBIT ONE When that pic was snapped, Corzine was fresh out of Goldman Sachs executive suite, buying his NJ Senate seat office for $65 million; then buying the NJ governorship. Out of office, he ran a hedge fund where $1.5 B went missing....that employed both Bill Clinton and then-Secy of State Hillary's top aide Huma Abedin.
EXHIBIT TWO When Chelsea Clinton's husband started a hedge fund, he gained access to investors who had ties to the Clintons and to Goldman Sachs. Back in 2011, Mezvinsky, now 37, and two former Goldman Sachs'ers ââ¬â Bennett Grau and Mark Mallon ââ¬â began raising money for Mezvinsky's Eaglevale Partners LP hedge fund.
Some of Mezvinsky's investors included Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein. Blankfein, a slavish Democrat supporter, said he had "always been a fan of Hillary Clinton." The WSJ reported extensively on the hedge fund's underperformance since its inception and Mezvinsky's mediocre investing and strategizing.
===========================================
EXHIBIT THREE Then-US Sen Jon Corzine (D-NJ), used his office to pass a special tax exemption for a Japanese bank he owned----his Goldman Sachs crony, Christopher Flowers---administrator of Sen Corzine's "blind trust"--- used Corzine's blind assets to takeover the Japanese bank. Corzine later said he "did not know" the legislation he sponsored "benefited" him.
There's a well-known saying in Congress---"One hand washes the other." You vote for my bill; I vote for your bill." So did Hillary vote for Corzine's legislation....giving tax breaks for a Japanese bank Corzine's "blind trust" owned?
AND what other Wall Street deals did Corzine make w/ Hillary to enrich himself...and her?
"Bernie, I insist you go first."

You just can’t make this stuff up. The responses write themselves.
Ping.
She can, however, be “bribed”.
Hahaha... that’s almost as funny as what she said again yesterday about her emails... “I didn’t do anything wrong..”
Top comedic laugh line of the century!
I actually started to write a response and it just seemed too ludicrous a statement to bother.
Bam.
An old Chicago saying is “An honest politician is one that stays bought.”
Hillary isn’t honest - they have to keep putting money in the meter.
I was going to say “she can be cajoled with money”, but that sounds like a really unfortunate double entendre.
