Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump holds an 8-point lead in Iowa, just four days before the first-in-the-nation caucuses there, according to a Public Policy Polling survey released Thursday.

The billionaire businessman secured 31 percent support, followed by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in second, with 23 percent, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), at 14 percent, and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, at 9 percent.

Former Govs. Jeb Bush (Fla.) and Mike Huckabee (Ark.), along with Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), tie for fifth, with 4 percent each.

I don’t think Canadian Snowbirds flock to Iowa. More like Florida or Arizona.

From the poll ...

Since we last polled Iowa two and a half weeks ago Trump and Cruz are the only candidates to see their support move by more than a couple points- Trump's seen a 3 point gain in his support from 28% to 31%, while Cruz has seen a corresponding 3 point decline in his support from 26% to 23%.

Cruz has seen a large drop in his favorability rating over the last few weeks, from 69/18 down to just 56/35. Trump's continued focus on the 'Canadian birther' issue may really be a big part of what's helping him at Cruz's expense. We found on our last Iowa poll that only 32% of Republican voters thought someone born in another country should be allowed to serve as President, and attention to Cruz's birthplace has been a constant since that last poll

At least half the poll taken after Trump announced he was skipping the debate. At the moment, looks like no impact to him. Cruz has also been stuck in the low 20’s in most polls. Perhaps he has maxed out his vote at around 25%. Negatives going up.

I’ll wait and see. PPP was the least accurate poll in the 2012 election.

Trump was right in telling Fox to go to hell. It was a communists trap and Trump got wind of it. Lets hope that the Iowans realize what was being set up and vote for Trump, a real intelligent man. To walk in front of a loaded gun is stupid.

What’s amazing is that Trump is accused of not having much of a ground game in Iowa. It sure is amazing that he can put on such a huge event in such a short period of time with no ground game.

Trump is a miracle maker!

Trump now owns Iowa in the polls completely. This is about 10 out of the last 11 Iowa polls that Trump leads, and something like 14 out the last 16 Iowa polls that shows Trump leading Iowa.

Na Na Na Na Hey Hey Hey Goodbye.

No one talked about Santorum’s ground game in 2012.

People that brag about theirs are either strategicly stupid, or trying to put out a spin.

Not sure if anyone is good at posting graphics (I’m not), but the HuffPost poll tracker does a good job of showing how Cruz has peaked and is on a decided downswing.

Regardless of what his supporters say, Cruz really hurt himself during the last debate. Both Trump and Rubio ate his lunch. Then campaigning with Glenn Beck. What was he thinking? He, who accused Carson and Trump of lacking good judgment. He isn’t dry behind the ears yet and not ready for prime time.

Ok sure. And when Trump wins you can go back to gossiping over your neighbors fence.

“No one talked about Santorum’s ground game in 2012.”

Is not Santorum going to Trump’s event tonight?
