At least that’s how I understand it. Probably a smear attempt.

Team Cruz has all ready acknowledged it came from them and see nothing wrong with the tactics. If there is nothing wrong with the tactic, Team Cruz here should have no problem owning it.

“Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Anthony Alito, Jr.”

All of these are the type of Federal Judges I feel certain Cruz will appoint.

I do not hold the same level of trust in Trump

-- One of my concerns is that an Anchor Baby could become a US President down the road if we only use the stipulation that they were "born on US soil". --

The legal argument there isn't as easy as the "born abroad" one, but see Kawakita v. United States, 343 U.S. 717 (1952) for the risks associated with dual citizenship. Obama is an admitted dual citizen at birth, BTW. And there is much written, even in modern cases (Tuan Anh Nguyen v. INS, 533 U.S. 53 (2001)), about the importance of contact with the citizen parent and US "culture."

Again we'd be stuck with a charismatic target (Rubio), which roughly stops people's ability to reason, dead in its tracks.

-- Anyone know what is happening with Obummer's illegal EO's that the judge stopped last fall? I haven't seen anything on it in quite some time. --

SCOTUS agreed to hear it. I think that is bad news, SCOTUS will say it's up to Congress to impeach if the president doesn't take case the laws are faithfully executed, not a power of the Courts. Actually, there is plenty of middle ground, but SCOTUS would not have taken it if it agreed with the status quo. SCOTUS wants to legitimize the legalization of the illegals by executive order, contrary to will of Congress. It's SCOTUS turn to be "bad cop."

You make my point.....Glenn Beck has not only jumped the shark...he has gone insane in the process...and everyone with half a brain in the Conservative political movement knows it!!! Why any voter in Iowa would vote for Ted Cruz after he was politically love making with ego-maniac, nutcase, Gelnn Beck is far beyond understanding by any person with a sane brain. No Ted Cruz for me!!! Go Donald Trump!!!

You will know the answer to this, kabar....

Given the extreme unlikelihood of a Supreme Court to inject themselves into a political debate and campaign, and the probability they’d refuse to hear the case at this time, what happens if Grayson sues Cruz about Natural Born Citizenship ?

But, lower courts—especially one friendly to Grayson in Florida —would probably rule. Would the last court (perhaps Florida’s 11th circuit ) that ruled on the issue have the final say ?

Yep. Political Junkies know Rubio. Problem is millions of voters are getting all their information from the campaign, speech, media ads etc. Rubio has been doing his very very best con man job on Iowa voters.I don’t like Rubio but is is an effective politician and Iowa, as previous caucus results have shown, is a goofy place.

Exactly what are the “respected legal authorities,” in the form of Supreme Court Opinions, that hold that Senator Cruz is eligible?

-- IMHO a baby should not be considered a US citizen as the parents had no allegiance to the USA; however, we know many, especially libs, will look at that differently, especially if it's to their advantage. --

It's not just libs. Many evangelicals are open borders advocates, the Catholic Church is a NWO proponent, and it's fairly popular to think that each of us should be able to dream of being leader of any country we choose to call "home."

The "anti national" forces have been working hard since the early 1900's. They are going to persist until they get their way. A 20 year delay is nothing to them.

Just saying, it's not just a "lib" thing. The number of people in Congress who stand in strong opposition to slowly dissolving the borders (other than for business purposes and managing the rate of "leveling the playing field") is probably fewer than 10. The rest all subscribe to modern political science.

My understanding is that Cruz was born on Canadian soil and his mother was a US citizen but not his father.

The way I was taught in school...back in the days when they actually taught this stuff...is that, to be an NBC, you had to be born on US soil (or US entity), of two US citizen parents. That seems to disqualify Cruz.

Rubio, I understand, was born on US soil but his parents were not US citizens at the time. Seems like that would be a disqualification too yet, not much is being said about it.

Obviously, based on the way I was taught, Obama should not have been eligible either. I don't recall a big firestorm over that. So now, a precedent has been set but is it constitutional?

If he was born on foreign soil then he’s still an American citizen but it’s a derived citizenship based on law.

I think what Trump is really after is showing that many Texas, and now National voters didn’t know about his Canadian citizenship, and that he is a guy, who like the Clintons, will not come clean unless absolutely forced too.

P.S. Trump first for me, Cruz second, so this is not a bash Cruz comment

I’ve read that the Admin has sent groups to 25 US cities to teach folks how to prep illegals to become citizens prior to Nov 2016. Guitterez (who makes my skin crawl) is doing something similar with another group.

No, they are trying to naturalize green card holders who are eligible to be citizens. Clinton/Gore did something similar in 1996 expediting naturalization of green card holders. Since immigrants vote more than two to one Dem, it is a way to get more Dems on the rolls. At any one time, there are about 15 million green card holders resident in this country. Many have elected not to become citizens. The is just a Dem GOTV effort. It is not about legalizing illegals.

nyone know what is happening with Obummer’s illegal EO’s that the judge stopped last fall? I haven’t seen anything on it in quite some time. ?

The Obama second EO amnesty was stopped in the lower courts. The Obama administration asked SCOTUS to put it on the docket as soon as possible. SCOTUS complied and will hear the case this session with a decision in June.

Obama's first EO amnesty, the so called Dreamer amnesty in 2012, has legalized the status of approximately 580,000 Dreamers giving them work permits and SSNs. Based on that status, a number of states are issuing them driver's licenses and granting them in-state tuition. The courts have not ruled on this one either, but I expect no politician will try to undo it. Why? Because it has to do with "children" who came here 15 and under. It doesn't matter if they came with their parents or not. And they can be up to the age of 30 to get the Dreamer amnesty. So far, the approval rate for those who apply is about 99.5%.

You have to be elected President to appoint judges and justices. I question Cruz's ability to get elected in the general election. And it appears that the Senate will likely return to the Dems in 2017, which will make confirmations that much more difficult, especially for SCOTUS.

Harry Reid used the nuclear option to get Obama appointments confirmed with just a majority needed. The Dems play hardball while the wimps in the current GOP-controlled Congress roll over and give Obama everything he wants and more. Ryan and McConnell met with Obama this week, no doubt to plan their strategy for getting more of his agenda thru before the end of Obama's term.

The people of Vermont might be a bit touched.

If he ran as a dem, he would lose those indy votes. If he ran as a pubbie, no one would believe him and no dem would vote for him. He runs as a dem, gets all the dem votes, and most of the stupid indy votes, enough to skate for all these years. He is trying to apply that nationwide.

Here is my assessment if I were interviewing them for a job in the business world.

Trump: Strong leadership skills. Can get things done, but can I trust that he will get the right things done?

Cruz: I can trust Cruz to do the right things, but would he be effective in a leadership roll or will he simply alienate everyone he has to work with?

Rubio: Good at sales but not leadership material. He is a born follower, not a leader. Too unprincipled to be an effective leader. Too easily lead by others.

The Dems?

Clinton, arrogantly corrupt, recklessly incompetent, shameless sense of entitlement. Would find a reason to terminate her employment asap.

Sanders: Rigid ideologue. Incapable of Leadership on any level due to his blind worship of his failed political dogmas. Live is a bubble world where theory trumps reality.

O’Malley: Pretty boy empty suit. Cannot figure out how he got hired for anything in the 1st place.

The rest? Good men and women but not anywhere near Presidental level.

Let us keep it civil. Advocate for your candidate, and try not to disparage someone else's candidate is best.

Good luck with that.

...unless the government is 100% corrupt...

Yeah, well, good luck there!

Seriously, I think he is as eligible as Obama...

Any democrat who weighs in on Cruz's eligibility needs to sit down and shut his/her/it/Caitlyn Jenner's yapper!

I can see it used as a campaign tool, but the reality is the entire country drove off the cliff on this one 8 years ago.

So Cruz is as eligible as Obama was, unless they want to post-election remove Obama, remove any and all laws, executive actions, appointments and orders he signed, and put McCain in as the winner.

Pretty sure I wouldn't want McCain, but expunging Obama from the country works for me.

Seriously though, they cannot put that genie back in the bottle. It's a done deal. The whole argument failed with Obama. Let it die.
