Cruz hits The Donald on 'TrumpCare'
Politico ^ | February 1, 2016 | Dan Diamond with Joanne Kenen

Posted on 02/01/2016 7:36:04 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

CRUZ HITS TRUMP ON HEALTH CARE - AND HE'S KIND OF RIGHT - Locked in a close battle in Iowa, Ted Cruz is turning to health care in an attempt to separate himself from rival Donald Trump. A brutal ad airing in Iowa links "HillaryCare" and "ObamaCare" with "TrumpCare" - and uses Trump's own words against him.

"Everybody's got to be covered, this is an un-Republican thing for me to say," the ad quotes Trump saying on 60 Minutes last fall. "[And] the government's gonna pay for it."

Cruz pushed this message further on several Sunday shows. "A vote for Donald Trump is a vote for ObamaCare," Cruz claimed on Meet The Press. "Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders have the identical position on health care. Which is they want to put the government in charge of you and your doctor. Now my views are polar opposites."

- TrumpCare remains vaguely defined. Trump called Cruz a "total liar" and declared, "I am so against Obamacare." But the thing is, Trump has repeatedly reiterated his commitment to some form of universal coverage - just as Cruz suggests. However, we still don't know any specifics of a Trump health plan, or how he'd pay for it.

Pressed again on Sunday, he still refused to offer details. "We'll work something out," Trump said on ABC's This Week. "Nobody knows health care better than Donald Trump."

What is TrumpCare? On one hand people are saying Trump hasn’t defined it yet and at the same time they are saying it’s going to be terrible and not work.

Those two assertions don’t go together. If you don’t know enough about it then Shut Up! If you have details, spill ‘em.

It’s kinda scary, it’s remarkably similar to 2008-he didn’t sit in that church, he didn’t support infanticide, he doesn’t know Ayers etc

Donald is such a rotten liar. If he understood health care at all, he would know that Canada’s health care system, like our own VA system, KILLS people, doesn’t treat them!

Has Cruz or Rubio ever have to make book on payroll as a business owner?

You already know the answer to that, so why ask?

Here is the thing, poor people use the local emergency room for health care. That cost is either picked up by the hospital or more often then not buy local, state and federal government. Using the emergency room the is the most expense health care option by far. So Trump is actually making a proposal that would in fact save money, Cruz is not.

This is exactly the same thing leftists were saying in support of Obamacare -- that providing health insurance to poor people would actually save us money. Gee, if that was the case, then why did Obamacare have to raise nearly $1T in tax revenue? Shouldn't it have paid for itself?

And second, it's not true. Studies were done on this in Massachusetts after RomneyCare passed, and they found that the expected savings from people supposedly avoiding emergency rooms didn't exist.

Another thing about emergency room care is that all the emergency room is required by law to do is to stabilize you. Once you are stable they send you home and recommend that you go see a doctor.

Wow, you've not only managed to parrot the left-wing justification for ObamaCare, but you've also managed to maintain the exact same logical inconsistencies. Impressive.

In case you missed it you, your first paragraph claimed that Trump's plan would save money because it would reduce emergency room visits. But in your second paragraph, you conceded that what gets offered in emergency rooms is very limited. Really? If so, then why didn't you recognize that providing far more care would be more expensive? Why raise the disingenuous argument that it would somehow save money to provide a lot more care?

Poor folks can not afford to see a doctor so they get send home to die. Which is why I said "Cruzs' plan is to let people die in the streets".

I think you made a wrong turn somewhere. Democratic Underground is two doors down, on the left (of course).

He has been talking for a long time now. Trump people don’t listen to anything that doesn’t conform to their already confirmed notions of who they want.

"Nobody knows health care better than Donald Trump."

This from a guy who hired 150 illegal Polish immigrants to do demolition labor for Trump Tower, paying them $5 per hour, 12 hours a day, seven days a week without overtime, and NOT providing them gloves, hard hats, or breather masks.

In a demolition job on an old building with asbestos and lead paint dust everywhere?

What does that even mean?

What it means besides the fact that he and his ilk want everybody else to patch up "his" workers for him so that they can get back to work (or bury them once they slowly die), is that he doesn't give the slightest consideration to Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution, which doesn't list providing or controlling medical care as one of its enumerated powers.

What is TrumpCare? On one hand people are saying Trump hasn't defined it yet and at the same time they are saying it's going to be incredible and will work amazingly well.

Trump leaves his positions so deliberately vague that voters (both supporters and opponents) can project their own personal beliefs on him.

Yup, mindless hope and change has come to the Republican Party.

If Cruz loses, the GOPe, leftists and the Trump cult will all join together and dance on the grave of conservatism.

He won’t win any elections by telling people that he doesn’t care if they die on the street.

Cruz has never told anyone that, nor was that happening before the passage of Obamacare.

Why are all these socialized medicine supporting progressives being allowed to run rampant on FR? I remember when they used to get zotted.

Trump: I Have A Great Relationship With Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer

"........TRUMP: Well, I think that I'm going to be able to get along with Pelosi. I think I'm going to be able to -- I've always had a good relationship with Nancy Pelosi. I've never had a problem. Reid will be gone. I always had a decent relationship with Reid, although lately, obciosuly, I haven't been dealing with him so he'll actually use my name as the ultimate -- you know, as the ultimate of the billionaires in terms of, you know, people you don't want.

But I always had a great relationship with Harry Reid. And frankly, if I weren't running for office I would be able to deal with her or Reid or anybody. But I think I'd be able to get along very well with Nancy Pelosi and just about everybody.

Hey, look, I think I'll be able to get along well with Chuck Schumer. I was always very good with Schumer. I was close to Schumer in many ways. It's important that you get along. It's wonderful to say you're a maverick and you're going to stand up and close up the country and all of the things, but you have to get somebody to go along with you. You have a lot of people.

We have a system. The founders created the system that actually is a very good system. It does work, but it can't work if you can get nobody to go along with you. That's the problem that you have with Ted Cruz. He is a guy that nobody likes and nobody trusts, and he is a nasty guy. He says things that are very nasty. So I have to be nastier than him. It's just one of those things."

That's what I've been saying! Trump's position that single payer works well in Canada and Scotland is not only wrong (it doesn't), but also logically inconsistent - the problems with single payer are inherent in the system and universal, and there is nothing unique about Canada, Scotland or the U.S. that would allow single payer to work there but not here.

"You were already given that refutation, but here it is again."

That does not address people that can not afford to buy health insurance. Trumps' proposed all those things months ago too but Trump realizes that even with those reform some people will not have insurance. So it is the uninsured that Trump says we will have to do something. Cruz however does nothing about the uninsured which is why I say "Cruzs' plan is to let them die in the streets"

I think a lot of people are noticing that FR doesn’t quite seem the pro life, pro second amendment, pro free enterprise, anti big govt conservative site it used to be.
I hope I am wrong.

A repost kids, for some of you with a snow day.

2016 ELECTION TEST
Choose just one.

1. TRUMP
2. CruzRubioCarsonPaulBushFioriniKasichHuckabeeChristie
3. Clinton
4. My feelings are hurt, I will not vote for Trump because
he said some mean things.

ANSWER KEY
If you chose number 1, CORRECT, count yourself wise and patriotic while recognizing strong leadership.

If you chose number 2, INCORRECT, hearts in the right place but where is your head. Number 2 pick = 3 win.

If you chose number 3, INCORRECT, now go back to DU. Unless you want to confess like Delmar - “Well that’s it, boys. I’ve been redeemed. The preacher’s done warshed away all my sins and transmissions. It’s the straight and narrow from here on out, and heaven everlasting’s my reward.” Then you are welcome to stay.

If you chose number 4, INCORRECT, and you’ve been put on the stupid list for protecting your conscience while actually choosing number 3.

Yep.... that pretty much sums up Trump. In the end, I do not think he’ll get the nomination. But I do think he’ll run independent.
