Cruz hits The Donald on 'TrumpCare'
Politico ^ | February 1, 2016 | Dan Diamond with Joanne Kenen

CRUZ HITS TRUMP ON HEALTH CARE - AND HE'S KIND OF RIGHT - Locked in a close battle in Iowa, Ted Cruz is turning to health care in an attempt to separate himself from rival Donald Trump. A brutal ad airing in Iowa links "HillaryCare" and "ObamaCare" with "TrumpCare" - and uses Trump's own words against him.

"Everybody's got to be covered, this is an un-Republican thing for me to say," the ad quotes Trump saying on 60 Minutes last fall. "[And] the government's gonna pay for it."

Cruz pushed this message further on several Sunday shows. "A vote for Donald Trump is a vote for ObamaCare," Cruz claimed on Meet The Press. "Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders have the identical position on health care. Which is they want to put the government in charge of you and your doctor. Now my views are polar opposites."

- TrumpCare remains vaguely defined. Trump called Cruz a "total liar" and declared, "I am so against Obamacare." But the thing is, Trump has repeatedly reiterated his commitment to some form of universal coverage - just as Cruz suggests. However, we still don't know any specifics of a Trump health plan, or how he'd pay for it.

Pressed again on Sunday, he still refused to offer details. "We'll work something out," Trump said on ABC's This Week. "Nobody knows health care better than Donald Trump."

So, for the record, you are FOR socialized medicine.

Do you consider yourself conservative?

Defend ObamaCare’s continuation with conservative principals.

A legitimate reason to criticize Trump (as opposed to “he put the collection in the wrong tray at an Iowa church”)

I wonder if the ten billionaire put "two crisp hundred dollar bills" on the Lords Supper.

If one is truly a conservative, one would leave it up to charitable people in each community to pay for indigent health care which is, of course, the largest unfunded cost in the health care system.

But, people are not charitable in many places, the government has already imposed indigent care obligations on the hospitals, and the “indigent” are mostly a bunch of addicted malingerers who don’t deserve charity.

So, what to do?

Leave it to El Paso, Detroit and Tuscon to provide the cost of care for these people or nationalize the problem and the solution?

There are no legitimate reasons to criticize The Donald. He knows all and sees all, and the last thing He says is the Truth. You are forbidden to mention anything g from the past.

I am still waiting to see how that makes health care affordable to some destitute person in Appalachia or a Subway tunnel.

Trump doesn't have a health care plan as yet, but has said for some time now that he would like the people to be able to shop around and across state borders...if it's cheaper in Arizona and you live in Florida, you could purchase Arizona insurance than in Florida.....

All that shows is that Trump has no idea how the health insurance industry works.

From my standpoint why would I want to buy my insurance from a company in Arizona? Assuming, for the sake of argument and logic, I would not want to fly to Phoenix for all my medical needs I would have to convince my doctors, pharmacy, and local hospital to accept them as my insurer. Why should they do that? My doctors are not in the insurance company network; they have none in Florida. There would be additional work, and costs, on my doctors part to file claims with them since it would be a unique client. Should an issue come up with the insurance company then my health care provider can't go to the Florida state insurance department, they would have to go to the Arizona department. So with additional costs and effort involved then why wouldn't my doctor and pharmacy and hospital tell me that they won't accept the insurance?

And then look at it from the insurance company. How much should they charge me for my insurance? Their cost structure is based on what medical care costs in Arizona and they base their premiums on that. In all likelihood the costs for a procedure in Miami could be higher than it would cost in a Arizona. How do they factor that in? The insurance company has a network of healthcare organizations in Arizona which they have negotiated with and established a fixed price for their services. They have no such organization in Florida, and aren't likely to establish one for a single client. So they will pay a much higher price for my claims than they would for claims filed by clients in Arizona. The insurance company has no idea how healthy I am, how many claims I've made, and they don't have a pool of customers in Florida that they can spread the risk over so they have no idea how much I'm going to cost them? So where is the benefit for the insurance company? They have to go to the trouble to calculate a one-off premium for me. I'm going to cost them more on my claims. I'm going to cost them more in administrative costs. I may well cost them more in claims than they could ever realize from my premiums. Is my business really worth it to them? Why shouldn't they look at me and say, "Thanks for your inquiry but we don't do business in Florida?"

“Just because Cruz and Rubio are correct on the issues does not mean they are competent executives. “

Fidel Castro has a lot of executive experience.

As does that fat guy who runs North Korea.

We have no idea what he meant. And lots of people — millions, in fact — also run their own business. “Nobody knows health care like Donald Trump is...gibberish.

When asked about TrumpCare, Nancy Pelosi stated “We’ll need to elected Trump before we can find out what is in it”. (sarc)

Ha, good one. The last thing he says is the truth and the next thing he says will be the opposite of the last thing he said.

To the cultists, it doesn’t matter. Nothing matters!!

So how does Cruz’s plan help destitute people afford health insurance?
How does Trump’s “we’ll work something out” plan do that?

I trust an executive with human resource experience over thousands of employees over a life long govt employee like Cruz who has never run a business, balanced a budget nor hired or fired people (nannies and babysitters don’t count).

You didn’t answer my question. What, exactly, is your preferred “executive with human resource experience” proposing? “We’ll work something out” isn’t a proposal.

I would expect Cruz supporters to at least know a thing or two about the separation of powers but I guess they just rely on Cruz in all his brilliance to do the thinking for them.

The president does not get to enact any health care law.

Trump knows this and is simply positioning himself to beat the dems in the general election.

Tell Cruz to go read the constitution.

He won’t win any elections by telling people that he doesn’t care if they die on the street.

What private non govt organization have they run? Castro like his fellow Cubans Cruz and Rubio have been lifelong govt employees.
