AND NOW... amidst billowing clouds of fragrant, aromatic first- and second-hand premium cigar smoke... it is time for... that harmless, lovable little fuzz ball, the highly-trained broadcast specialist, having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have, from behind the golden EIB microphone, firmly ensconced in the prestigious Attila-The-Hun chair at the Limbaugh Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies, serving humanity simply by showing up, and he’s not retiring until every American agrees with him - do NOT doubt him - with shrieks of joy at the mere mention of his name (that’s Rush, for those in Rio Linda),the Mandarin of Talk Radio, with talent on loan from G-d, at the cutting-edge of societal evolution, with half his brain tied behind his back — just to make it fair, the all-knowing, all-caring, all-sensing, all-feeling, all-concerned Maha-Rushie! Thank you for providing a perfect example of what I have been saying for the past couple of weeks! It does not make any difference who you are, what you believe in, or how impressive your conservative credentials are... if you have not pledged your allegiance to Ted Cruz... you will be attacked by Cruz supporters and accused of not being a "true" conservative. There are no exceptions. Period.

Now read down thread and see the SAME exact behavior from Trump fans.

Two way street.

I am glad to see you are still following the script. There is only one “true conservative” in the race and we all know who that is. Why then did two and a half times more people who participated in last nights Free Republic caucus support Trump rather than Cruz? Are their two and a half times as many progressives as conservatives who post here? Is this forum made up of mostly fools? Answer me that grasshopper?

I have not seen one post from someone who said they were supporting Trump but would not vote for Cruz. I certainly have not seen any posts from a Trump supporter who accused a Cruz supporter of not being a true conservative.

I have seen many posts from those who have expressed concern about Cruz being born outside of the country. I have seen many posts from people who expressed other concerns about Cruz’s distortions and sneaky political moves. I have seen many posts from people who do not believe Cruz has much charisma or leadership experience or abilities. Which of those topics do you feel we should not be able to post about?

“There is only one “true conservative” in the race and we all know who that is.”

Trump is a “true conservative”?

Just what evidence do you have to back that up?

You do realize that in the not so distant past he’s been pro-choice, pro-Obama stimulus package, and pro-Obamacare?

Are you aware that the only positions he has officially taken on his website are U.S. China Trade Relations, Veteran’s Administration Reforms, Tax Reform, Second Amendment Rights, and Immigration Reform?

What about positions against abortion and Obamacare? What about positions on reducing the deficit and foreign policy? What about his vision on who he will appoint as judges? What is his position on whether he is a true constitutionalist?

Are you really willing to bet the house on all of his $64,000 questions?

What proof do we have that he is truly authentically conservative?

His claim that Trump wants Single Payer was pathetic. When he was talking about sick on the street he was talking about hospitals taking them as charity. Basically the way we used to do it before Obamacare. Same way Reagan did it.

Was Reagan for Obamacare?

To do this on the day of the Caucasus was pretty sleazy.

Pray America wakes

Cruz has proven himself to champion the conservative cause on a lot of issues to the point where every one of the establishment despise him. Doesn’t that tell you everything you need to know about whether he stands for conservative principles?

Yeah, I have watched him and he has failed. A conservative message is a good product but Cruz can't sell it. If he could, he wouldn't have every despising him. As president, how will he deal with an entire Senate that despises him. How would he win them over?

I find that one of the best ways to determine whether you should vote for somebody is to find out who is against a candidate.

I find that the best way is to see who supports a candidate. Of all the people involved in politics, I trust Sarah Palin's judgement about everyone else. Why? Because I know what she is about and where she is coming from in regards to the proper role and ethics of govenment. We could be ideological twins.

I, too, am repelled by the establishment elite. However, I want a president who is effective. Cruz isn't nor am I convinced he isn't a part of the establishment. Pissing people off and angering them doesn't prove anything except perhaps he is an unpleasant person. Ever consider that?

Diamond6, the ones who throw around the term “true conservative” over and over and over and over and over again are those following a predictable Cruzebot script. Last night two and a half times as many people voted for Trump over Cruz on the Free Republic Caucus. That is an overwhelming majority of those posting here who currently believe Trump for whatever reason is the best choice to be the Republican nominee. I doubt whether there are very many here who have not carefully weighed the pluses and minuses of each candidate to make their decision.

This is one of the most conservative forums that I have ever found. If you are going to accuse the vast majority of us of not being “true conservatives” that is your choice. I appreciate the parts of your post where you brought up your valid concerns. There was nothing I have not heard before. I could make a similar list of problems that I have with Ted Cruz.

I have concerns about both Trump and Cruz and but would support either in the general election. I am not going to play this game where we try to determine whether you or I is the most “true conservative”. It is both silly and meaningless.

“Pissing people off and angering them doesn’t prove anything except perhaps he is an unpleasant person. Ever consider that?”

It appears to me the only people he pisses off are the leeches in the establishment who want the status quo continued. I don’t care if he pisses them off, because I want him to topple their apple carts. Their corruption has gone on long enough.

BTW, Reagan was hated by the elites as well, and what did he do? He went over their heads and communicated with the American people. That’s what Cruz has the ability to do as well.

And you don’t think Trump pisses people off??? He has much higher disapproval rates than Cruz does.

And what do you think of Trump’s pandering to Iowa’s subsidy for ethanol? Isn’t that exactly what the GOPe does?

You're right. There is (was) something wrong with me. I fought cancer and then a related complication a couple of years later, but I won. I'm now cancer free.

I used to be a monthly contributor, but unfortunately, I lost my job during the time I was fighting those health battles. Medical bills -- especially after losing benefits -- do tend to mount up.

If there is a pay-to-play policy here on FR, I am unaware of it. I'd appreciate if someone in authority would contact me and let me know if that's the policy.

P.S. to any women now fighting ovarian cancer: It can be beaten! I'm living proof. And if any of you are or have a loved one who is, FReepmail me and I'll pray diligently for them. It's a scary diagnosis, but God's bigger!

I have concerns about the Trumpettes and Trumpbots not thinking critically about whether Trump is genuine. He does not have a record of conservatism. On the other hand, Cruz does.

It may be silly and meaningless to you, but I don’t think so. We continually choose the middle of the road Republican, and it has gotten us nowhere in the general election.

I honestly fear that Trump may be all bluster and no bite. If he isn’t genuine, he could be just a continuation of our country away from the conservative ideals that used to make us great.

God bless you and thank you for sharing your point of view on Free Republic. It is people willing to openly share their experience and beliefs that make this place a truly great place to visit.

I have.   So?

I certainly have not seen any posts from a Trump supporter who accused a Cruz supporter of not being a true conservative.

Why would they?

Your bias is too thick to see thru.

We share many of the same concerns. I have felt for many years however that Sarah Palin and I are near ideological twins. She chose to support Donald Trump. She knows both candidates well. I trust her and her judgment.

I have loved what Sarah Palin has done in the past, but I really do question her judgment on this one.

I hope I’m wrong about Trump, but I fear I am not.

Alright then. I apologize for whatever distress that mean person who identified themselves as a Trump supporter caused you. Many of us sometimes say things in the heat of battle here that we really don’t mean. And of course it can sometimes be fun to try and get a reaction out of others.

I have considered all of the candidates this time around carefully. I would assume that you have as well. We have come to different conclusions as to who we feel we want to support at this time. My argument with you is whether or not it is a good idea to trash those who come to different conclusions than either you or I.

They cause me no distress whatsoever. I was just answering your challenge. You should be more careful with those. You're the second person today that I've seen throw out absolutes as if there isn't a search function on FR.

All I'm saying is that animosity is a two way street.
