Trump Nation's Faded Boarding Pass
The American Thinker ^ | February 2, 2016 | Geoffrey P. Hunt

[snip]

".........Trump Nation is tired of failed transactions leaving only humiliation, disrespect, hardship, and despair. Trump Nation wants a transaction president.

Donald Trump knows transactions. Donald Trump advertises that he's not only a high stakes negotiator. Trump will save the nation in the grandest transaction yet.

It is that simple.

Just like Trump Airlines.

Recall Trump's promises in 1988 -- a lot more than a simple transaction in keeping the aging Eastern Airlines shuttle fleet flying. Trump promised luxury, convenience, style, personal touches, affinity to grandeur, and profitability.

Except for convenience, Trump delivered nothing else for which customers were willing to pay. The Trump Shuttle was a flaming financial wreck. Customers had already defected to upstart Pan Am. In desperation Trump trashed his rival, claiming Pam Am execs were losers, and Pan Am was unsafe. (Sound familiar?)

Soon enough, Donald Trump's transaction to transform the airline business was a bust. His most important transaction was confounding third party creditors in bailing out his personal guarantees.

Donald Trump's prefabricated brand is of the quintessential transactional leader. He's a master, even negotiating brilliant escape hatches when he fails.

Trump Airlines, perhaps Trump's boldest venture far removed from his core expertise, still displayed Trump's leitmotif -- engineering a brash makeover for an overvalued transaction to get into the airline game, unable to command the nuts-and-bolts knowhow needed to gain market share and stop bleeding margins, thus in desperation finally piloting a perilous landing, coaxed to the ground by Citibank controllers leaving the third party creditors, and employees, to find the exit row chutes, fending for themselves.".......

I was happy to see Cruz win Iowa, but this means almost nothing in the overall campaign.

1. A New Yorker like Trump would have a hard time winning in a place like Iowa anyway.

2. In recent years, Iowa is hardly a strong indicator of who will be the eventual nominee. The last two Iowa caucus winners for the GOP were Rick Santorum and Mike Huckabee.

It’s embarrassing to read FR these days. (Not at you) The childishness has become absurd. I rarely read a Trump/Cruz thread anymore and this one reminds me why.

I believe trump would have won handily, as a democrat.

It’s a marathon and not a sprint.

But, in my opinion Rubio is the big winner yesterday. The establishment vote will now coalesce behind Rubio. After Hew Hampshire there’s no reason for any of the establishment to continue.

How bad is Rubio?

I already know this — He’s much better than Romney.

So, we come out of Iowa with three candidates leading, all of whom I can support.

What I've seen here is not 'venomous anger' or posters being uncivil. What you both might interpert as being uncivil or anger is simply light hearted negativity. This is the why I and most all Trump supporters have commented -using light-hearted posts. And besides, we'll all be on the same page -on the same team- when our conservative candidate is chosen. So, we can all continue to enjoy and casually debate these primaries knowing that Sanders and Clinton have no chance in the world of winning anything. :)

This post by nopardons is what I've noticed:
"Trump supporters ignored almost all of the nasty posts to and about them for many months on end."

"Sleazy DIRTY TRICKS won't help poor Teddy in N.H. nor S.C.!"

Even when he loses after telling everyone he won't lose he still wins. Impressive mind-meld.

Don't you hate when people vote? They pull these stunts like supporting who they want even if it's not the guy you support. Damn Founding Fathers! If we could just crown Trump in a real state like New Hampshire then we could just make him president right there.

I like you. You funny.

If he is the GOP nominee I’ll vote third party before I would vote Cruz. Nice job CW.

You would vote against a candidate because someone on this forum annoys you...?

The stupid was strong in Iowa.

I know it is had to fathom, but conservative Iowa voters voted for the conservative candidate in Iowa instead of the fake conservative...

Nothing at all stupid about that...

And they still pick corn.

Now there's a stupid comment...

Way early to call an end to Trump’s run.

Chances are good he will win NH.

So Palin and Branstad humiliated themselves.

Trump failed, and he clearly was foolish to skip the debate - a supposedly "brilliant" move that did him no good.

Rubio humiliated Jeb Bush, Michael Murphy, Right 2 Rise. etc. by outperforming Bush by a factor of 10.

Carson underperformed expectations but Paul outperformed.

Exactly. I was happy to see Cruz win, but Iowa is hardly a bellweather state for GOP primary candidates.

The last two winners of the Iowa caucuses were Rick Santorum and Mike Huckabee. Charles Manson would get elected president before either of those guys.

Interesting -- I seem to remember Ron Paul doing surprisingly well in Iowa, too.

When does Jeb Bush give up the ghost and go home?

Far from Trump bots portrayed as the enemy of civil discourse,it is in fact anti-Trump belligerents who are sowing discord in conservative ranks. For his part, Trump has meted out a measured response to attacks upon him.
I have found myself defending Trump with no particular interest in supporting him simply because of the scurrilous attacks made by you and others against him.
I am delighted by Cruz’ victory in Iowa. This is a great win for genuine conservatism.

Cruz is running one of the nastiest most negative campaigns I have ever seen.

Oh' horse pucky...

Cite one example where Cruz (not Freepers) personally attacked Trump by calling him names...

Names like loser, nasty, liar, maniac and anchor baby, you know the names Trump called Cruz...

Cruz must live in your head 24/7

Cruz probably won’t play well in NH.

Actually, I think Cruz has shot his wad.though he got off a pretty good shot indeed...if you all want to torture yourselves, listen to Glenn Beck’s radio show today, and hear his preening, taunting insanity; Glenn, whatever happened to you...

and you people are going to have to face up to your biggest bogeyman; Marco is primed and loaded to take this thing to the convention...and plenty of people are seeing him as the one to take a couple of weak Obama states and their electoral votes, something that neither Cruz nor
Trump have any likelihood of doing...
