Horowitz: Hawkeye Humiliation: Cruz Crushes Cartel

“Vote for anyone but Cruz,” declared the much-vaunted Iowa establishment governor, Terry Branstad. Between Trump, the establishment, and Fox News, they threw everything they had at him in the months preceding the 2016 Iowa Caucus.

We heard it all: birtherism, ethanol, Goldman Sachs loans, the Palin endorsement, Cruz supposedly losing every debate, the Santorum/Huckabee sniping, the entire establishment ganging up to defeat him. Then we were told that even if Cruz wins Iowa, a victory would only occur in the event of low turnout. After all, the newbies will all be for Trump. Well, Cruz won with a record turnout, projected to be near 180,000. It also appears that Cruz will break Mike Huckabee’s previous record of the most total votes received by the caucus winner. And he did it in an elevn-person race.

“The GOP long knives will be out for Cruz with a vengeance now.”............

First let me say I am NOT a Rubio supporter. That said, I see the GOP pushing Rubio hard and fast to eventually surpass both Trump and Cruz. Marco is their boy now that Bush has fallen on his face. Personally, I can’t stand Rubio as he reminds me of the proverbial “used car salesman”, he’s all mouth.

HIspanics that I know, MOST of them godly, Christian, and even Catholic Hispanics who oppose abortion will rally strong behind Ted Cruz. Count on this

Nah....Iowa is a freak show. It’s representative of nothing. It is the exercise of the mob and who can be intimidated and manipulated. When we get into the Australian Ballot we will start to see who has the strength. That may still be Cruz...we’ll see

His victory is fantastic, historic and impressive.

You could say that about Santorum's and Hickabee's victories too. How did they play out. Historically Iowa has meant little. I'd hold my applause until Cruz wins a mainstream state.

Last I heard out of them the Cruz campaign was in a state of collapse and Cruz was only minutes away from dropping out. You would think their credibility would suffer.

Frankly nobody called it straighter than Steve Deace.

yeah, seems the trumpets have forgotten the last 5 days of polls and articles and their own comments....their big laugh at the Cruz bus stuck in the mud and so on......the brilliance of Trump skipping the debate....their obsession with the off putting campaign mailer.....all the while ignoring Trump going LEFT OF BERNIE SANDERS on health care.....

Funny thing....Iowa voters did NOT ignore Trump’s healthcare remarks. They did NOT ignore his nasty comments about Cruz. They DID UNDERSTAND that Cruz was attacking Trump’s liberalism while Trump was attacking Cruz personally....and they said HELL NO - many at the last minute - finally getting their snoot full of Donald.

“Ted Cruz went against the ethanol cronies in IA and won. All the naysayers pronounced him losing for not bowing to the cronies.”

And Trump pandered to the corn lobby, even though he knows the rest of America hates ethanol destroying their engines.

Yes, this is amazing. It won’t stop those who are blinded by bias against Cruz from coming up with ridiculous statements. But these are facts that are very impressive.

Most interesting to me is that the candidate areas of strength didn't turn out as predicted by media. They predicted Trump strong all across the south and southeast, Rubio strong on the east and northeast with Cruz strong in the north and west.

Projecting a probable Cruz victory vs. Hillary this far ahead in time in even more silly.

Hopefully, Killary will be tied up in legal troubles and will no longer be in contention.

“Who will be running against either a pasty white 74 yo socialist or a pasty white 69 yo has been...”

That’s a good point. I had honestly forgotten that our last 2 pasty white guys were running against a cool, young, black dude.

He’s just another pasty, white, traditional republican. He has zero crossover appeal, lacks name and face recognition among the voters that decide general elections,

If you have a problem with white people, there's another political party where you might feel more at home.

Since when do all politicians have to be celebrities? Bill Clinton and Obama were unknown until they won the primaries.

Romney stomped Obama in the first debate, then put on kids gloves for the remainder of the campaign.

How much longer can the knives be? He has already been stabbed by everyone in his own party, the opposition and the media daily. That’s why I donated to him this am.

“CD, are you kidding me? Have you seen this guy debate? Have you seen how they can barely stand that tired, old, drug and booze addled hag up?”

i bet in the debates they give Hilliary a snort of something during her bathroom breaks. pre-debate she probably is given ritalin to keep her functional.
