Cruz Laughs at 'Trumper-tantrum,' Says Trump 'Can’t Debate the Substance'
National Review ^ | 2/3/2016 | Brendan Bordelon

Ted Cruz unloaded on his rival Donald Trump after the real estate mogul accused him of voter fraud over Twitter. "I wake up every day and laugh at the latest thing Donald has tweeted," said Cruz, calling Wednesday’s outburst a "Trumpertantrum" brought on by Trump's inability to "debate the substance."

On Wednesday morning, Trump sent out a series of tweets demanding the caucus results in Iowa be nullified due to what he claimed was voter fraud perpetrated by the Cruz campaign. In particular, Trump singled out reports that the Cruz campaign told voters during the caucus Dr. Ben Carson had dropped out of the race, causing some of them to switch to Cruz.

At a press conference before a meeting with voters in Goffstown, New Hampshire, the new frontrunner in the Republican race pulled no punches. "It is no surprise that Donald is throwing yet another temper tantrum – or if you like, another Trumpertantrum," Cruz said. "It seems his reaction to everything is to throw a fit, and I understand that Donald finds it very hard to lose. But at the end of the day, the people of Iowa spoke."

"There's a reason that Donald engages in insult after insult - because he can't debate the substance," Cruz continued. "He doesn't actually want to talk about issues."

The Texas senator wasn't done. "Donald's insults get more and more hysterical the more and more upset he gets," Cruz said. "I think they're very funny. I wake up every day and laugh at the latest thing Donald has tweeted." He questioned Trump's temperament for the job of commander-in-chief, saying "we're liable to wake up one day and Donald, as president, will have nuked Denmark."

"You know, my girls are five and seven," Cruz said. "And I got tell you, Caroline and Catherine are better behaved than a presidential candidate who insults people every day." The line drew cheers and huge applause from the assembled New Hampshirites waiting to meet him.

Asked whether Cruz planned to fire the staffers accused of misleading Iowa caucus-goers, the senator demurred. "This is not a campaign that scapegoats our staffers, that holds someone out and fires them for political purposes," he told a reporter. "And I would note that the news story we passed on was true and accurate . . . is it a dirty trick to pass on your news stories?"

Those little darlings are all on welfare now. Thank you Obama. Thank you Glen Beck and thank you Ted Cruz. You are so much better humans than we xenophobic, nativists, anti-immigrant racists. We are such scum and we never get tired of having our noses rubbed in it.

I believe Trump says in his own book he hasn’t really changed since he was in the first grade.

Those are the kind of things that the Democrats used to say about Reagan.

Ok. So you can put your tripe out there but don’t want anyone to call you on it. Got it. I will consider you a rigid, non conversational absolutist. I won’t be bowing to you though. Take care.

Odd, your posting history shows you quite clearly to be a Trump supporter well before this even happened.

hmmmmmmmmm.

Why has not master-debater Cruz at least debated his proposal for a constitutional marriage amendment out of the Senates in-box?

Rush said today that Trump wasn’t going after Cruz on substance or policy, but the way a liberal would.

This is interesting because Trump’s personal attacks against Cruz didn’t work in Iowa, but Cruz’s substantive policy attacks against Trump did.

Yeah well, to both you and Rush; build the darn wall and keep more Muslims out. It's a start. Substantive enough for ya?

I’m confused. The proposal that Cruz put forth is to change the Constitution. It sounds as if you are shocked that it was proposed all the way back in April. Do you think changes to the Constitution happen overnight? Would you really WANT our Constitution to be able to be changed on a moments notice? Without being fully vetted?
Or was it the substance of the change to the Constitution you did not like? That marriage should be between one man and one woman?

I have not seen this transparency of trump that you discussed. Nor the good negotiating skills. Not since he threw his name in the hat. He’s been making faces, using grade school verbiage whenever he decides to attack anyone and one liners about all the changes he is going to make. He has yet to give any creditable information as to how he can or will accomplish anything he has discussed.

I know my post will not change your opinion of The One. Just my humble opinion.

"Do you think changes to the Constitution happen overnight?"

Spare me the strawman rebuttals.

Where is Cruzs debating skills when he needs them?

If you had actually looked at my posting history you’d have seen that I have consistently supported Cruz, until the Iowa shenanigans started the weekend before the caucus.

And, to Cruz supporters, sabotaging Carson is no big deal too.

If this is a big deal to you, then I suppose you've given Rubio supporters equal grief on this...right?

(If not, then I suspect selective "outrage" here...and one more based on who got more delegates than Trump did)

I see there is hiding from Cruz bad behavior and agreement with his politics as usual from Cruz supporters. That say it all.

I love it! Strawman rebuttals. That’s the best you can come up with.
Not a strawman rebuttal at all. It’s called Common Sense. Again, do you actually believe... Truly believe, that changes to the Constitution can OR should be an overnight decision???
Also, do you feel what he is trying to add to the Constitution, that a marriage should be between one man and one woman is wrong?

It’s not about debating skills as I’ve only seen trump throw nasty slams at his opponents during the debates. Not too much debating there.

>>The perfect way to respond to Trump - ridicule. Trump as less mature than 5 and 7 year old girls - perfect!<<

It only works if there’s at least a grain of truth....and in this case the 7-year-old is close enough.

And you’re right. Ridicule is the secret to bringing Trump down. It’s also how the MSM will bring Trump down should the GOP ever be crazy enough to nominate him. So far, they’ve just been repeating what he says, which helps him ridicule his opponents. Once nominated, that changes, and they’ll be portraying what he says in a far different manner.

Her's what Cruz's daughter thinks of him... Creepy guy.

Your post is really creepy. Taking that clip removed of all context, posting it, and saying that it represents what Cruz's daughter thinks of Cruz.

>>Watch, the media who until now were frustrated with Teflon Trump will soon realize that they now have the ultimate weapon against Trump and they will use it. <<

Nope. The media could have been doing that all along. They want Trump nominated and will hold fire until that happens. Only then will you see the media trying to take Trump down, and they will very likely be successful, given the ammunition he’s provided over the years.

“The media could have been doing that all along. They want Trump nominated and will hold fire until that happens.”

Actually I had considered that possibility, and you are probably totally right. The media loves to play up their favorite republican until he gets the nod, then they turn all guns against him, and Trumps temperament guarantees he will have an epic tanty melt down the split second that happens.
