Marco Rubio: People "born with" sexual preference

Marco Rubio said he believes that sexual preference is decided at birth, but still believes that states should be able to decide if they want to define marriage as anything other than involving a man and a woman.

"It's not that I'm against gay marriage. I believe the definition of the institution of marriage should be between one man and one woman," Rubio said in an interview on CBS' "Face the Nation." "States have always regulated marriage. And if a state wants to have a different definition, you should petition the state legislature and have a political debate. I don't think courts should be making that decision."

"I don't believe same-sex marriage is a Constitutional right," Rubio added. "I also don't believe that your sexual preferences are a choice for the vast and enormous majority of people. In fact...I believe that sexual preference is something that people are born with."

Rubio sparked a debate on the issue last week after he said in an interview with Fusion's Jorge Ramos that he would attend the same-sex wedding of a gay family member or staffer even if he would "disagree with a choice they've made."

I dont know a soul under 30 who agrees with me.

Constant propaganda from the media since the 1970s. Perhaps even earlier as well.

we lost the culture war guys because 50 years ago, conservatives forgot to buy a TV STATION!!!

Network.

Dont say I was here, because I promised someone I would stay off until 8pm and actually get some chores done :)

:) I have the same problem sometimes. :)

One thing we know for certain, only Christians will populate heaven. No denominations will be recognized and Christ makes that decision, for only He knows our hearts.

Marco sounds more like Trump's brand of Christian, his believes shaped more by his growing up in New York, than the bible.

Sounds like Marco's definition of whether or not he'd attend a "gay wedding," is based more on pop culture than any actual faith, politically expedient rather than spiritually grounded.

Then why are they always trying to 'teach' people what they do, how they do it and they're always trying to recruit? If you were born that way you would already have that knowledge and not need the constant instruction.

Not making Rubio any more attractive to conservatives. I guess he knows the damage he did by his betrayal of the tea party who supported him cannot be undone.

Interesting how, right before Iowa he goes on and on about how Christian he is and how great Jesus is.

Now that he is trying to get votes in New Hampshire he is proclaiming how inclusive he is. (Although he at least disagrees with the Supreme Court ruling on homosexual marriage. Wondering if he will “evolve” on this issue later.)

I was thinking up until now that Rush was right and Rubio is mostly conservative except for the one terrible stain on his record on immigration. Now I am questioning how conservative ANY of his positions really are.

With the possible exception of George Thorogood
I think people are born with a preference for no sex.

Trump today in New Hampshire, responding to question on gay rights:

When President Trump is in office can we look for more forward motion on equality for gays and lesbians?” O’Connell asked him.

“Well, you can,” Trump answered. ” And look, again, we’re going to bring people together, and that’s your thing and other people have their thing. We have to bring all people together and if we don’t we’re not going to have a country anymore.”

In my personal opinion Rubio is a democrat snake planted in our nest to foil us once again.

Christie calling Rubio a bubble boy, gaggler is truly odd. (look up meaning of gaggler in Urban Dictionary)It is pretty nasty

Rush calling Rubio “full-throated” conservative is more odd still.

Subliminal programming?

Telling us without telling us?

"It's not that I'm against gay marriage. I believe the definition of the institution of marriage should be between one man and one woman,"

This statement shows a disturbing lack of clear thinking. If you believe marriage is between one man and one woman, then you are against gay marriage. Rubio gives the impression he has not thought about this issue before he was asked the question. He's trying to play it both ways, and fails miserably, alienating both sides.

I suspect Rubio is partially right. A tendency toward one or the other sexual preference is probably decided at or before birth, along with a lot of other positive and negative leanings. This tendency can probably be influenced a little by culture and a lot by abuse.

We choose whether to follow those urges or to follow God’s guidance in scripture. I trust God, so I do my best to follow Him, even (especially?) when it is difficult for me.

The most loving advice we can give to those with same-sex attraction is to trust God. The most hateful advice? The liberal path of following animal urges - look at how bitter, unhappy, and (if they reach old age) lonely those who follow homosexual urges are in almost all cases.
