I would think it is even more shocking to young people how many things middle-aged people attained (or are struggling to hold onto) that are beyond any hope for them: Homes, families/children, relative job stability and career advancement...
God works this kind of pressure upon a people that has forgotten that their blessings were due to Him. If they are not utterly committed to hard hearts, at some point their need will result in prayer, which He, being gracious and merciful and forgiving, will grant. As the prodigal son who chose to came back to his father instead of joining some robber band and dying for vanity.

I doubt that neither most Americans, nor most Conservatives, nor most folks on this board would be in favor of doing what was required to return our country to its former freedoms or it’s founding Constitutional principles.
It would require eliminating government checks, benefits, and controls.
Nowadays folks would fight to the death for their social security, medicare, and other government checks. They won’t fight for quaint concepts like “liberty” and “freedom”.
When we finally go over the cliff financially - there will be a final spasm of cronyism where Americans scramble for the right to take what’s left from other Americans who are less politically favored that they have built and earned and is yet to be confiscated by government.
“Conservatives” will be wearing the jackboots, same as the “Progressives”. We want our free stuff from government, no matter what our political affiliations, and are already slitting the throat of the Republic to keep it. Our children will be ashamed of us for it.
That wind came from the devil.
The Lord who stills the storm can yet be of avail. A whirlwind does not have to utterly consume us who are of His church. The Cross is by no wise in vain. But it is our choice whether to humbly beg for His mercy in the face of our foolishness, or to keep right on pridefully going with fractional measures.

I see little reason for God to intervene for people who have no use for Him; when you look at Muslim crazies squaring off against US troops that now represent a showpiece of “gay marriage”, abortion, and broken families, who do you think God favors?
This has been my feeling for quite some time and if anything it is becoming more pronounced. It does not appear to apply just to America as it seems to be a worldwide malaise and a common problem, Unfortunately more often than not it may take a destructive event, such as a war to straighten things out. And I am afraid we may not be too far off for one.
Yes, YOU do see little reason for that.
But happily God isn’t you, and He works to a different spiritual cycle.
He did not approach mankind with the notion of their earning anything. That is the notion that THEY embraced in the folly of Eden. His idea was from the beginning, and still is (because it is truth) the entire affair runs on His grace.
Do not let false despair keep you away from a gospel breakthrough, or it may happen and just leave you out.
I think this issue is the "canary in the mineshaft" for American culture. It is an issue that touches the very heart of what is wrong in America.
Under political correctness we are unable to discuss the issues that lie under the failure of inner city schools: Dysfunctional parenting, lack of discipline, low IQ's, low expectations and dishonest curriculums that rewrite history and reality.
Fixing inner city schools would require hard decisions that will of necessity abandon a segment of the population that is destroying everything around it. Hard decisions are not popular and don't "buy votes", so they will never be made.
Meanwhile, schools in out-state areas away from the inner cities continue to do a passable job of educating our children. That's why the left is pushing Common Core and Obama is expanding Section 8 Housing into rural areas. Uncontrolled immigration is the final piece of the puzzle. The elements are in place to complete the destruction of education in America. With education destroyed, American culture will quickly fall.
Sin ultimately brings about its own punishing circumstances.
It is childishly simple: you want the devil? Okay, you get him.
At some point a choice may occur after a lot of heartache and grief has transpired. Or a permanent rebellion may occur.
The appearance of concerted grace on the scene (as it did with Jesus’ personal visit) can hasten the choice to the good if the people are otherwise poised to accept..
Excellent write-up, although still probably a more positive take on things than I’d serve up. I see the country as having passed a point of no return, and has fully entered its death-spiral. Once faggot-marriage was pushed through without backlash, it was the symbolic line-in-the-sand that showed me that America has fully embraced evil and depravity, and has for all practical purposes rotted to the very core.
You can falsify earthly history. But God insists on knocking on our doors anyhow.
How is the calculus of the heart? That’s the thing that is going to lead to all the rest.
Young people should see them - as both a warning and a survival guide...
