Insiders: Marco Rubio Crashed And Burned
politico.com ^ | February 7

Marco Rubio was stuck on repeat Saturday night, and it threatens his momentum in the New Hampshire primary.

The POLITICO Caucus - a panel of operatives, strategists and activists in the early-nominating states - overwhelmingly judged Rubio the loser of the final debate before the first-in-the-nation primary.

More than two-thirds of GOP insiders surveyed after the ABC News debate said Rubio lost, and more than 70 percent said the Florida senator's performance will hurt his chances of toppling front-runner Donald Trump or even outpacing his fellow competitors for second place on Tuesday.

The problems for Rubio began when New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie challenged Rubio early on, and Rubio replied repeatedly with a canned response about President Barack Obama's agenda to change the country.

New Hampshire GOP insiders called Rubio "cringeworthy," "badly programmed and robotic," "so rehearsed he comes off as inauthentic," and "exposed at last for the wind-up doll he is."

"He botched the exchange with Christie, sounded like a broken record, and was sweating so much that he looked like he needed Charlie Crist's fan blowing on him," added another New Hampshire Republican, who, like all respondents, completed the survey anonymously.

...Trump is going to underperform his poll numbers in every primary...

I also suspect that is the case. Something like the 'Bradley Effect' in California. To say one is voting for Trump conveys a message of anger and independence; not too conservative, not too liberal. But in a secret vote, suspicion and one's past inclinations become more powerful.

I wonder if Trump wouldn't have won by a landslide if the Iowa GOP actually had a public caucusing procedure instead of a secret ballot.

I think Cruz gets a fair portion of rubios supporters (the conservatives) with the remainder going to the “most electable” establishment guy still standing

I think what hurt Rubio the most was when Christie said, “ see the 25 second soundbite” as Rubio was repeating it for the 3rd time. I do think Rubio helped himself with the prolife response. But all in all, net negative for him.

he's not incompetent as Trump said.

I disagree.

Obama is just the one who has the power. It is the Congress, the Senate, and all the WH Administration who use Obama like a sock puppet to achieve their goals. This is the reason they wanted him for President. He would say, do , or sign anything that they want, as long as he believes it follows his goal of remaking the country in his own image. And they let him believe it.

But Obama being some MASTER PLANNER, some Governmental GENIUS ? No way.

That is like thinking that because I use a torque wrench while assembling an engine, that the Torque wrench is an automotive Genius.

My favorite prediction is Microsoft Bing, which predicted Trump with 40%. Do-o-oh!

If I were running for President, it would be one of my talking points, too.

I have no trouble with Rubio saying it. He's right that Obama's destructiveness was planned from the get-go. But why did he keep saying it as though he had forgotten he had already said it? Why didn't he say something like "if I could elaborate on what I said earlier"? He came off like a confused guy with short-term memory issues.

Is Christie demonstrating the hippo technique of sending a warning, or is he trying to swallow Trump.

The real question is... even with a really bad performance just before the Tuesday primary, do the GOPe folk have anyone else to go to? And if not, will the bad performance matter at all? Trump is still polling on top and pulling in big crowds, Cruz is still the surprise challenger with the best resume and an unexpected win in Iowa, and the "big" day expected in NH for Kasich won't do a thing to help him after that. Carson is still polling at 3 pct, and went home for clothes instead of campaigning to try to do better, so he is likely toast unless his 8 pct in SC climbs sometime soon.

To me, the two things to look for in NH, after the media runs 300 "Kasich who?" stories, are: 1. "Did Trump meet expectations or fall short once again?" and 2. "Where did the GOPe throw their support, now that Bush has 2 states coming up where he is polling at or near double digits: Jeb or Marco?" (After a 2.8 showing in Iowa)

Trump gets every vote - everytime. Even when he loses he gets every vote because those votes have not been cast against him, but stolen from him. Usually by the Canadians with help from Goldman Sachs.

Apparently his press secretary wasn’t able to prep him with the questions he’d be asked, this time.(I’ve read here that her daddy works for FNC’s debate team) So they had to program him with a hate Obamie 25 second filler instead.

Quite awesome of Cristie to bring this to our attention! He had him so flustered he couldn’t shut down his mouth or his ‘shifting feet dance’.

I actually thought he might be having a stroke. Memory lapses and incoherent talk one of the symptoms. But the truth of the matter is he’s a programmed robot and was knocked silly by Christie. It showed all over his face. He looked like a little boy scared to death right before the school billy beats him up.

Establishment RINO Tim Scott from SC was on Fox News with Maria Bartiromo this morning and when asked about Rubio’s strange behavior he refused to answer, just giving her his talking points on how great Rubio is for America. She repeatedly asked Scott what he thought about the canned Obama talking points repeated over and over and he finally said it was planned!! She knew then she was talking to an idiot and the interview was over. Will be interesting to see Lou Dobbs’ take on her interview with the black version of Marco Rubio.
