The Libertarian Moment Lives With Ted Cruz
Liberty Conservatives Magazine ^ | February 7, 2016 | Remso W. Martinez

Rand Paul is out, so what does this mean for the realistic future of 2016? It means what I've been saying for a while, Senator Ted Cruz will take his campaign all the way. There is now pretending that Ted Cruz is a libertarian, he is as conservative as they come, in the traditional sense.

The difference between Cruz and Paul though is this; Cruz never pretended to be something he wasn't, he has much adoration for libertarians, and has stated time and time again that when certain challenges come about, there is a need for a coalition. Senator Rand Paul on the other had was different, Paul over and over again denounced being a libertarian when it was unpopular to appear as when, and then whenever he needed a boost in support, he would toss around the word “libertarian” out of style. To simplify it, Ted Cruz is the friend that accepts you for who you are, while Rand Paul was the friend that would ignore you except when you were needed to advance his agenda.

As the race for the White House continues, Ted Cruz is now the only Republican left who can maintain the Reagan Coalition he has been fighting to piece together. While there are enough reasons libertarians would consider Cruz as a viable option, a honest assessment of Cruz from a libertarian lens has almost always been dismissed. Now is the time however to reconsider. I've stated in the past why I think Cruz will be the most libertarian-leaning president since Coolidge, but what are others saying?

Nick Gillespie over in an op-ed for the Daily Beast stated: ...

All I see on this thread is people trashing CRUZ

And you know what? He’s a big boy and can handle himself.
He don’t need me but here I am. :)

Calling people “birthers” and trying to shame them in to silence, just because they insist that according to the Constitution our President should be a natural born citizen, is a vile tactic.

Should we call supporters of the 2nd amendment “gunners” and attempt to shame them into silence? It’s the same thing.

Thinks about that the next time someone calls someone else a “birther”.

Keep in mind that it was the long-haired, dope-smoking, free-love hippies that evolved into the Yuppies that voted Reagan into the Presidency. Twice. By landslides.

In politics you find allies and common ground wherever you can, trusting that your new allies will “grow” in your direction politically and ideologically. Or at least grow away from the other side.

It’s not just Cruz who gets this; Trump does too. BOTH are working towards a deep and robust winning coalition.

Libertarians I know are, open to legalizing drugs, for Gay Marriage, OK with open borders. Yeah, that sounds like Christian Fundamentalist./s

Libertarians, as an example the Libertarian Party, support the Bill of Rights including the 10th amendment.

So too does Ted.

But is he natural born or is the term still relevant ?

It’s never been tested

If he gets the nomination it will be I can promise

Very few are objective over it

The very same argument that would have been used against Obama had he been actually born in Kenya as not natural born due to fathers status is now discounted by folks many of whom supported the questions about Obama

Politics kills reason and truth wherever it lies

That’s the danger of Republics when truth is totally extinguished by the mob

I mean can we even trust the Court to be impartial if this made it to their steps

They did over Gore Bush but that was a different court

Either one is naturally entitle to citizenship, natural born, or one earns citizenship, naturalization.

It's absurd to say that one earns citizenship at birth.

Cruz was born in Canada. Inconvenient, but a fact.

So? Trump was born in New York. Also inconvenient, but a fact.

You got your club, I got mine.

I took an oath on the Constitution.
And I mean it.

SCOTUS is a joke and frankly NOT constitutional.

Man Levin nails this with Men in black

"Cruz was born in Canada. Inconvenient, but a fact."

Not inconvenient at all. He left while still a small child and grew up in the US. Why should his place of birth be held against him?

So what? So did Obama and a host of other subversives. Your oath is as worthless as theirs.

"To be clear- natural born citizen means that citizenship is obtained without the need of statute or decree."

No, that's one of the birther rationalizations to get the answer they want.

No, I am believer.
Testify!

We all know Obama effed up the oath and then it was redone in private

No honor no allegience
