Aborting Rape-Conceived Babies Called 'Sweet Spot, Act of Self Defense' by Jeb Bush, Chris Christie
Christian Post ^ | 7 Feb 16 | Sam Smith

Posted on 02/08/2016 9:51:35 AM PST by xzins

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush argued his support for abortions in the cases of rape and incest would help him win the presidential race after he asked about his recent criticism of Florida Sen. Marco Rubio's pro-life stance during Saturday's Republican presidential debate on ABC.

Former Fla. Gov. Bush, who currently averages fifth place in national GOP nomination polls, told CNN in an interview Friday that Rubio's belief that abortion should not be permitted in the cases of rape and incest would be a "tough sell" to pro-life mothers whose daughters had been raped

"So, I am pro-life but I believe there should be exceptions — rape, incest and when the life of the mother is in danger," Bush continued. "That belief and my consistency on this makes me, I think, poised to be in the right place — the sweet spot — for Republican nominee. Others may have a different view and I respect it. We have to be cognizant of the fact that there are a lot of people that are concerned about having a pro-life position without any exceptions."

Bush's comments during the Friday interview somewhat echo a remark made by fellow GOP candidate New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who said Thursday that Rubio's stance on abortion would cause many New Hampshire voters to be "really concerned." During the debate he said aborting a rape-conceived baby is "an act of self-defense."

Perhaps, if we find out later in life that their fathers were rapists, we could kill those children as well s/

I would think for safety’s sake after a rape that a DNC to remove any lining that might have captured dangerous bacteria, viruses would be a good thing to do. Just because semen has been deposited doesn’t mean there is a pregnancy.

Doesn’t matter.

I wish it did. But it doesn’t. We’re stuck with this shit until we have the nerve and the will to overthrow judicial tyrants. In the meantime, the battle must be fought locally.

If you think about it, incest, if it isn't rape, is mutually consented to. So, they don't really need incest in there.

I'm guessing it's about birth defects and/or having a "reminder" around.

I ask them, "If it's better to kill a baby than for it to live handicapped, why don't we kill all handicapped people? Wouldn't they be better off dead?"

Donald Trump on Abortion

2000 Reform Primary Challenger for President

I am now pro-life; after years of being pro-choice

Donald Trump shocked attendees at the conservative CPAC conference in February when he declared himself pro-life after years of supporting the pro-abortion position. Several months ago, when questioned about his position, Trump responded by saying the public "would be surprised" by his stance and, in an interview with Laura Ingraham from Fox News leading up to the conference, Trump characterized himself as "pro-life" and he repeated that apparent reversal when he told the audience at CPAC, "I am pro-life" and pledged to fight for the reversal of ObamaCare, which contains abortion funding loopholes.

As the 2012 race intensifies, pro-life advocates must call upon Donald Trump to further explain his stand on important pro-life issues like Supreme Court nominations and repeal of the pro-abortion Obama healthcare law.

I changed my views to pro-life based on personal stories

Q: Evangelicals want to feel secure that they're going to have a nominee that's solid on those social issues.

A: One thing about me, I'm a very honorable guy. I'm pro-life, but I changed my view a number of years ago. One of the primary reasons I changed [was] a friend of mine's wife was pregnant, and he didn't really want the baby. He was crying as he was telling me the story. He ends up having the baby and the baby is the apple of his eye. It's the greatest thing that's ever happened to him. And you know here's a baby that wasn't going to be let into life. And I heard this, and some other stories, and I am pro-life.

Q: So those stories did change you, they came around and changed you?

A: They changed me. Yeah, they changed my view as to that, absolutely.

It wasn’t too many years ago that I was a rape/incest/life of mother type of “pro-life” person. I wasn’t really concerned so much with life of mother or with incest, but with rape. I was particularly concerned with victims of brutal violent rape. Wagglebee might remember our arguments.

Why did I change?

Time was part of it. Faith in God was part of it. And thinking about alternatives to abortion was part of it.

I now believe in helping those women deliver those children at the safest most early moment possible, adopting out those babies, and not performing hideous, intra-uterine dissections of human beings.

How long did it take me to grow into that? Years maybe. Frankly, abortion wasn’t really a discussion during my early life in the early 60’s. About the end of the 60’s and early 70’s is when it became a more public discussion. I was probably neutral to pro-abortion until my late 20’s. Then I went rape/incest/life of mother and stayed that way for a long time....all the way to Free Republic.

So, I had some 3 decades to grow out of it, and the good counsel on these pages of some solid Christians and conservatives.

So, for Trump to say he’s pro-life on a position that he didn’t even begin to accept until his conversion to it in 2011 is a lot different than Bush or Christie who have claimed to be pro-life for decades now. So, when Bush says “sweet spot” it makes me shudder, because I know he’s talking about political expediency.

I’m willing to give people time to grow. I did for Romney, and he kept betraying what he said he had come to see, so I backed off of him.

Thank you for the ping, campaignPete R-CT.

I don’t mean to be rude, but I rarely link to you-tube.

I watched the debate. I sometimes wish all men would keep their noses out of the abortion debate, given that they’re never going to be the impregnated gender.

I am thankful for science’s progress with the morning after pill. I view that pill as the savior for eliminating abortions and the following guilt.

Take that pill the morning after a rape. No abortion needed.

Is that too simplistic on my part?

See #48.

I think the morning after pill doesn’t cover all the necessary issue of diseases that might have been carried by the rapist.

My response to the couple would be that they knew that going in. So, if it wasn’t forced sex (rape) then it was consensual sex.

As the song says:

Sometimes it's good to look back down
We've come so far - we've gained such ground
But joy is not in where we've been
Joy is who's waiting at the end

I’m sure it doesn’t, but the morning after pill, relieves the raped girl or woman of all guilt with regard to any pregnancy issues, because she would never know whether a pregnancy took place or not.

This is my Catholic thinking coming into play.

I know it’s a little more surgical, but would a morning after DNC accomplish the same thing and cover the infection issue too? I’m not a medical person.

The main problem with the morning after pill is that it CAN be an abortifacient, though not always.

Nevertheless, the whole rape/incest issue is a red herring to distract from the fact that what is being discussed is the MURDER OF A HUMAN BEING.

Why should the child of a rapist be put to death when the father can't even be executed? The most draconian system imaginable is one where a child can be killed for the crimes of his or her parents.

The truth is that there are, at most, just over five thousand pregnancies a year as a result of rape (pregnancies from forcible incest are almost non-existent). Of these, a significant number of mothers will decide to not punish their babies for a crime they didn't commit. So, in the end, there are only a few thousand abortions that are a result of rape and "pro-life" Republicans have used this to justify the ongoing American Holocaust which claims another victim EVERY 24 SECONDS.
