Cruz would test the argument made by leaders of the hard right that Republicans have lost four of the last six presidential elections because their candidates — George H. W. Bush of 1992, Robert Dole, John McCain and Mitt Romney — were insufficiently conservative.

So many factors that make up winning. Number one being the condition of the electorate in the country. We see a socialist now days winning votes. Factors that cannot be determined is if someone will do a 3rd party run if they get upset.

All one can do is fight the good fight. At least this article shows who the NYslimes thinks is the one to fear the most (from their liberal perspective).

Go Cruz Go and congrats Trump fans on a solid win tonight.

From the article:

I asked Alan Abramowitz, a political scientist at Emory, just how conservative Cruz is. Abramowitz replied:

Cruz's positions are on the far right of the Republican Party today which would certainly place him far to the right of past conservative leaders like Reagan or Gingrich during his years as Speaker. In fact, his voting record is among the 2 or 3 most consistently conservative in the Senate. He is very conservative on every issue dimension: economic policy, social policy and national security/foreign policy. He is running on that record - emphasizing his purity compared with his rivals.

**************

I have studied the writings of our Founders, so much so that at times I find myself thinking like them.

Right now I am reading Ted Cruz's Princeton thesis and I have to say that Ted is not a modern politician, instead his thinking mirrors the likes of James Madison and James Wilson.

Ted's thinking is so removed from most of the people in Congress that they can not grasp what he is saying and thinking.

This aspect of Ted Cruz relates to the fact that we are so far away from what our Founders created that when someone comes along speaking like our Founders not many in Congress have the ability to understand what he is saying.

When they say he is ''Far Right'' what they are proving is how little they know about our Founding documents.

Cruz can’t win the general election.

They’re giving Cruz less than one in three odds of winning if nominated. I strongly disagree. Cruz has excellent odds if nominated - comparable to Trump and much better than Jeb.

These two quotations appearing below strip away the author's and the uni-party's objections to Ted Cruz and why they find Donald Trump more to their liking. They know Donald Trump will cut deals with the left and Ted Cruz will not:

He advocates losing strategies purely to further his own career at the expense of the party.

if Cruz were nominated, party leaders would “sit down and try to help Cruz run a better campaign, but he may not listen.” In contrast, “You can coach Donald,” Black said. “If he got nominated, he’d be scared to death. That’s the point he would call people in the party and say, ‘I just want to talk to you.’

Cruz came in a respectable 3rd. Kasich nlew his wad in New Hampshire. I don’t think he ever left to go campaign in another state.

Rubio spent around 30 times as much in New Hampshire as Ted Cruz; Cruz beat him anyway.

I guess I've just got to get used to Freeper flame wars another few weeks, but this year it's particularly painful to watch.

Third place, I believe the Cruz campaign will take that place and the two delegates that go with it

Like the bobble heads were saying the other day a fifth place finish was a win for Cruz and I did not understand how it was a win and only first was a win. As I read more about Cruz's ground game in NH and beyond the picture becomes clearer.

So to me it is still a loss but third is good for the Cruz campaign.
