If elected, Trump will not prove himself to be a stalwart conservative but a rank opportunist. We conservatives who blindly follow this narcissist will be crestfallen when the reality of serial betrayals sinks in.
“...serial betrayals”???
That’s funny!
A person who make a habit of betraying others usually finds themself unemployed, poor, and friendless. Hardly the situation Mr Trump is in. Or perhaps your crystal ball is suggesting that once he has finally obtained his life’s goal of becoming president (Ooops! That’s a different candidate) of the United States that he will suddenly reveal his true nature and become some sort of Snidely Whiplash character (An American version rather than Canadian), rubbing his devious hands together exclaiming “Ah ha! You fools! Now I shall cereal betray you!”
(Backs away, watching Nattys hands for any sudden movements.)
Nobody is pretending Trump is conservative. He holds some opportunistic conservative principles. Unlike most of the other politicians who are frauds, Trump holds sincere personal beliefs like concealed carry lowering crime, e.g. his proposed 50 state carry. At the same time we can probably count on Trump to fail in some big picture long term issues. Suppose the 50 state permit turns into a federal carry permit complete with FBI records. That would not be good. Or I could see Trump proposing some sort of restrictions as part of a deal.
In short, if we get Trump as president we will get a fixer and he will make America great again. But we may lose some Constitutional rights and will have to make sure Congress keeps him in check.
You nailed it. I won’t be fooled. I’m surprised to see so many fools here.
Yes, and they should be put off from voting in the future by their shame. Like those who voted for Obama twice.
I for one am confounded that the Republican Party has slide into the political abyss together with the Democrats, and no one from either party’s preferred candidates have a chance in the primaries. To Trump’s credit he is saying the correct things to win, on real issues, especially about Jobs, Immigration, Global War on Jihad, Political Correctness, etc. The problem the two-party system has today, in America, is that it is no longer seen by the heartland as representative of the citizens; when you elect someone you expect them to represent you in Washington (not themselves or the cronyism on display with the President, his Executive Orders or his goals....).
If Trump wins, DTs will take on a whole new meaning.
If Trump is the nominee, there will be no alternative vision to full on socialism presented during the general election. The conservative alternative will not even be part of the debate or on the ballot.
I had an epiphany on my drive to Florida and back, namely that a Trump candidacy/presidency is an absolutely win-win situation for us “burn it down” folks.
Win #1 Trump wins the nomination, thus demolishing the GOP wing of the Uniparty kleptocracy.
Win #2 Trump defeats Biden for the presidency, wreaking havoc on both sides of the Uniparty kleptocracy. And he would win a general election, considering that the clear majority of the electorate is comprised of celebretistas with a nanosecond attention span, even less hard knowledge, and absolutely zero critical thinking skills.
Win #3 Trump reverts to his old form as a fascist kleptocrat (I refuse to use the term “crony capitalist”: the word is fascist) and accomplishes NOTHING that the conservative and protest voters expected from him. No reduction is the size, scope or power of the Leviathan. No reprisal against abortuary operators or the rainbow jihad. He is a deal makers and will do what deal makers do: make deals! In response, the Burn It Down Brigade explodes in fury, and focuses that fury on the Uniparty/K Street kleptocrats.
In other words, his utter lack of principle serves to bring down the whole facade. What’s not to like?
