Cruz to GOP: It’s either me or Trump
Hot Air ^ | 2/10/2016 | ED MORRISSEY

Premature or prophetic? While analysts tried to figure out who had a "ticket" coming out of New Hampshire, Ted Cruz told Salem's Mike Gallagher that only two tickets exist -- at least in first class. With a win in Iowa and a surprising third-place finish last night, Cruz warned the Republican Party that he's the only one in the field who can dethrone Trump:

"South Carolina historically has played a critical role picking presidents. And I think Iowa and New Hampshire perform an incredibly important function in narrowing the field and in many ways this field is becoming a two-person race between me and Donald Trump," the Texas senator said on the Mike Gallagher Show Wednesday. "What Iowa and New Hampshire demonstrate is that the only person in this field who can beat Donald Trump is me. The other candidates are not able to beat Donald Trump."

The fraud is pretending you are the anti-establishment candidate but you go to Iowa offering increased federal subsidies for ethanol. There was nothing fraudulent but the effort to manufacture a scandal to hurt Cruz because Trump lost huge in Iowa. Ben Carson abandoned the campaign on the eve of the polls not even bothering to return and I would have definitely made a big issue of his departure regardless of whether or not he was leaving the race. No one in Iowa has expressed any regret. You can blather all day about your win in a blue state but South Carolina and Super Tuesday are the real test. Your candidate was around the last go round attacking Mitt Romney for being too tough on illegal immigration and threatening he would lose the Latino votes. By the way, Trump admits he violates US immigration law by hiring illegal aliens. You support a candidate that bankrolled liberal Democrats helping them take control over Congress. Your candidate gave the Clinton Foundation $100,000. That’s a bizarre form of Conservatism, don’t you think?

It will never happen ..Newt’s ego is as big as Trump’s .. there is only room for one alpha , and that alpha is Trump ... why let Newt ride Trump’s coat-tails ? If Newt is such a hot commodity , why isn’t he in the race now ?

In NH, Trump won the independent voters and also many democrat cross over voters. In NH it is hard to determine exact numbers because you can register to vote on the day of primary, and demand any ballot you desire, R or D.

You make it sound like journalists aka journalists who attempt to attack Trump on live TV more than any other nominee in the history of the country has ever been attacked. They’ll dredge every piece of slime imaginable up to take him down and they will be relentless.

Why would this type of behavior be acceptable to the average viewer watching a Presidential debate? It wouldn’t it s the answer and the biased moderators would be exposed.

OMG, I can’t believe you said that! Just look at all the DEALS that have been made in the last 7 years and I would bet you couldn’t find 2 or 3 that were beneficial to conservatives. DEALS that did not cost us money. DEALS that did not cost us liberties. DEALS that did not cost us lives.

No, we have had enough DEALS made in Washington and that is the reason Texas sent Cruz up there and he has made a yeoman’s effort to stop them, mostly by himself.

I disagree. There’s no danger of Ted Cruz sliding left in the White House. With that said, I’ll be conciliatory and let’s see how the candidates stand after Super Tuesday. Good luck.

The guy has been in the tabloid media for the last 30-40 years. His life has been dissected for years. What is the media going to hit him on?

Sorry, Trump isn’t Mitt Romney. Trump will demolish Clintoon or Bernie in a 1 on 1 debate. Trump will go in armed to the teeth, and against those two it won’t be hard to do that.

Are you paying attention to what is going on? He controls the media talking points. He b!tch slapped the Clintoons using the media, the same media that has been protecting the Clintoons for years.

Trump lost huge in Iowa

Trump only lost by a few thousand votes, after Cruz spent millions in Iowa to win it and had to play dirty to do so while simultaneously selling his soul to the Dominionists. Cruz then lost New Hampshire to Trump by 70 thousand votes, more than his entire vote total in Iowa, and now has double the delegates Cruz has.

You can blather all day about your win in a blue state

Not only did Cruz lose the moderates big time, Cruz lost the conservative vote by a wide margin as well, no matter how much you whine abut it.

But, but....I thought most of the CRuzies were claiming that Rubio was also in on this Carson CaucusGate sham, too.

Why would Rubio even touch the topic if he’s remotely involved in such dirty tricks?? Not to mention, Carson never implicated Rubio, from what I heard.

I mean, Rubio’s a fool, but not THAT big of a fool. Looks like Team CRuz was the only campaign in on getting out this misinformation, after all.

Is that why Teddy Cruz has big fat ZERO bills passed via his sponsorship, which mean anything to conservatives?

Why not one single senator from his 99 colleagues have endorsed Teddy? Not even Mike Lee, or Sessions? How will president Cruz get any conservative agenda passed through congress if none of senators like him, or actually most despise him?

Republicans in congress do not like him and democrats in congress despise him. I can see lots and lots of overrides of Teddy’s veto’s coming up.

I don’t think the attacks will be during the debates so much. Trump will take himself down there because he won’t be able to get away with tossing out insults and making faces for such a long time. That works when there are seven people on the stage. His lack of knowledge will be exposed when there are only a couple of people up there.

The attacks will be non-stop from the MSM everywhere else.

I’m not sure what that means exactly but I take it means something like censured or silenced. So you can trumpet for Trump and beat up on Cruz but heaven forbid anyone else differs on the matter. I’m in favor of debate.

Newt has a healthy ego and Newt loves this country. Millions of people would favor Newt as Trumps VP. There was even a thought that Newt could be nominated as the Speaker of the House over Ryan recently.

A few vocal posters on fr will not deter those of us who know Newt would bring wise counsel to future President Trump if we are so fortunate for Trump to win. Newt is well like by many which is evident on many social media platforms. Why a few are so anti Newt shows that he actually might be a really good pick for VP if Trump wins the nomination. Newt is brilliant and a scholar and that is a fact.

i hope you’re right man.

it’s early. Polls for the general are a fools errand.

but heck, i’ve been called worse :)

i just dont want to see rubio’s name anywhere near the top.

Trump and Cruz, that’s it.

If Trump takes it, like i said before, Cruz doesn’t die :)

it’s not a death match. He can work with donald and run in ‘24.
