The only reason any pollster is even asking this question is because Donald Trump proposed it. As those numbers suggest, any of Trump's rivals could have helped themselves by "stealing his issue". And yet no other candidate has gone anywhere near it - or anything like it. Perhaps one reason why American elections have the lowest voter participation rate of almost any developed nation is because the political class mostly seems to be talking about its own peculiar preoccupations. Consider this astute observation by Steve Sailer:

It should be obvious to you even though you are trying to ignore the fact that Donald Trump is for SEALING and PROTECTING our BORDERS. He is ALSO for BRINGING JOBS back to America.Somehow that sounds to me like a NATIONALIST, the ABSOLUTE OPPOSITE of a Globalist.
What he says he is going to do and what he will do are two different things. He’s got the marks all excited because he is telling them what they want to hear. He can say anything he wants because he doesn’t have a voting record to run on.

People in AZ may be the most clueless of all, but the competition is stiff for that designation.

Steyn understands why we need Trump. Why doesn’t Rush or Levin or Hannity or anyone else? What other conservative “spokesmen” or women understand that only Trump is offering border sovereignty, a better economy by bringing manufacturing home, doing away with Obamacare and allowing states the right to run their own schools?
Is anyone else out there getting it?

You need to vote for me because:
1. I really really want this more than ANYTHING
2. I feel I deserve it
3. I’ve taken a bunch of crappy jobs I never wanted just to get this
4. I have a vagina, no other President actually owned one before
5. You don’t know the crap I’ve been through.
6. I did most of the stuff Bill got credit for
7. I did the behind the scenes stuff so he could get elected and do well

I think that sentence about Bern and Trump not running for President of Davos is sheer genius. No one else can say these things as well as Steyn.
