The term "republicanism" is derived from the term "republic", but the two words have different meanings. A "republic" is a form of government (one without a hereditary ruling class); "republicanism" refers to the values of the citizens in a republic......The modern Republican Party has evolved such that its ideological foundation is no longer a pure republicanism so much as a conservatism that incorporates republican ideals."...

Actually, Sanders would have been in the SS exceptbhe is technically jewish

He is Jewish, but he would have been a good useful idiot for the Nazis, ratting out his fellow jews, turning in guns, etc, up until the day they sent him to Auschwitz.

Not telling me anything I didn’t learn in grade school.

If someone is a ‘conservative,’ but not a conservative of the US Constitutional stripe, then that person is a believer in some form of tyranny.

If by modern Republican party you mean the one Nixon begun that again that is not a real Republican of the Conservative Constitutional stripe - just plays one on the national stage.

Nixon put the paid to the US Constitution. All the rest are just arguments around the fringes of some form of tyranny. Which is basically what you wrote in your last sentence: “The modern Republican Party has evolved such that its ideological foundation is no longer a pure republicanism so much as a conservatism that incorporates republican ideals.”

This would explain one reason why some ‘conservatives’ voted for 0bama twice and are about to repeat the same mistake with DJT or BS.

Fascism is not on the right. Rush needs to read “Liberal Fascism.”

Efficient government? there’s an oxymoron if I’ve ever heard one.

There are people out there on the Left who truly believe that modern computer technology will FINALLY allow a government to efficiently manage an economy.

I suppose we are about to find out.

I love it when the IG states that there is huge waste in Government spending.

I often want to ask, if there is waste why not do an audit and tighten controls?

The waste is in the billions. Isn’t that worth a couple dozen auditors?

I never got that thinking?

Sanders: ‘I Believe in Efficient Government’

So, this means he is going to bust the government unions?

Government auditors are pretty much worthless. They spend the vast majority of their time on covering their collective a$$es.

We don't need more auditors, we need fewer regulations, and we need contracting officers that are independent, and not in bed with the contractors.

I'm in favor of free speech, but any company that receives any government contract should be precluded from lobbying, period.

Sanders has been in government for over 25 years.

IF he really wanted to make government more efficient, then he should have demonstrated this during that 25 years.

Someone should explain to Trump that adding more ethanol to gasoline would create major problems for older cars.

Many of us do not have new cars, nor can we afford to do so. A new car today represents 2 years minimum of my social security. Then it would be some little tin can car that was made NOT in America.

I already use additives to keep my 79’s vehicles running right. That is MUCH cheaper than buying a new plastic fantastic car that won’t go thru 4 inches of snow or rolls over so easily because it has such a short wheelbase & such a high center of gravity. Pretty darn hard to roll my 1979 Buick Station Wagon.....that only has 209,000 miles on it. My 1976 Chevy dually 1 ton truck has almost 350,000 on it, and I can keep it running. A new truck that would do the same job is close to $50,000, plus 8 percent sales tax, plus higher registration fees, plus higher insurance. Not financially feasible.

No argument from me on that.

I worked in the private sector for 25 years. At least once every other year I had a full blown audit. Down to the count of nuts and bolts and the money in our stamp machine.

After an audit like that, you start paying attention.

Its funny, the people I know who work for government agencies are afraid to spend a dollar without permission.

I’ve seen .gov people almost get into fist fights over where $100 is going to be coded. I finally interrupted them and told them I was going to pick it up on my company because we had already spent $100 listening to them complain.
