Among the two candidates whose results look at all like those of an eventual GOP presidential nominee, polling suggests that Ted Cruz would do significantly better than Donald Trump in the general election. According to the Real Clear Politics average of recent polls, Cruz would fare 5 points better versus Hillary Clinton than Trump would.
Polling has consistently shown Cruz to have an advantage over Trump in this regard: Fox News found that Cruz would fare 4 points better than Trump, beating Clinton by 7 points (50 to 43 percent) to Trump's 3 (47 to 44 percent). NBC News and the Wall Street Journal found that Cruz would fare 6 points better than Trump, losing to Clinton by 4 points (49 to 45 percent) to Trump's 10 (51 to 41 percent). And Quinnipiac found that Cruz would fare 5 points better than Trump, tying Clinton (at 45 percent apiece) while Trump would lose by 5 points (46 to 41 percent).

Ted Cruz 2016!
It says they both can beat Clinton.

I don’t believe it.
Generally I like Cruz, but he has been pro-H1B and pro-TPP. Those are both going to be deal-killers with a lot of voters this fall.
Yhe RCP average shows Ted winning against Hitlery, and Trump losing to her by 4 points.
You choose ignorance, then. Sad.
Oh boy...INCOMING from Trumpsters, big time. The poll must be rigged.
This poll is to fool the easily fooled. Cruz is an unknown. When the word gets out about his religion-on-a-sleave and his removal of the Social Security tax from businesses - along with his persona - Cruz will not carry a single state.
It doesn’t. RCP average has Trump losing to Hilary Clinton.
Rubio is not my guy, but I think a Cruz/Rubio ticket might be formidable for actually winning this election.
If Cruz does knock Trump out of the primary, Bush if still in will beat Cruz in the west (using possibly Romney for the Mormons) and the Northeast (states Trump would have won).
Theodore first has to win south carolina...
5 points difference between Cruz and Trump when it comes to beating Hillary? I’ll wager with anyone who thinks that will hold.
Poll was obviously rigged.
Trump will beat anyone in any election hands down.
He never loses.
Anyone who doesn’t believe that is either stupid, a Bimbo or a liar.
Trump has a much better record of success at demolishing his opponents. Cruz for the most part has had an easy ride by waiting til Iowa to attack Trump.
I am like you, my gut tells me that Trump would have an easier time in the general election. However various polls have told me otherwise, and I am not one to discount any poll that I disagree with (unless its horribly and obviously flawed). So I can’t simply write this off.
Doesn’t matter to the Trump supporters though.
He saw the light and ultimately voted no on TPA, and his protect the boarder plan calls on suspending all h1b’s until a complete investigation of fraud and abuse of the H1b system takes place. Ted also calls for building the wall, tripling border patrol, job place enforcement, etc. Overall, he has an excellent plan to stop and reverse illigal immigation.
He can’t even beat Trump. He’s got to do that before he can think about beating Hillary - or whomever the DNC nominee will be.
Who would prefer Cruz over Hillary, but the switch to support Hillary over Trump?
