Among the two candidates whose results look at all like those of an eventual GOP presidential nominee, polling suggests that Ted Cruz would do significantly better than Donald Trump in the general election. According to the Real Clear Politics average of recent polls, Cruz would fare 5 points better versus Hillary Clinton than Trump would.
Polling has consistently shown Cruz to have an advantage over Trump in this regard: Fox News found that Cruz would fare 4 points better than Trump, beating Clinton by 7 points (50 to 43 percent) to Trump's 3 (47 to 44 percent). NBC News and the Wall Street Journal found that Cruz would fare 6 points better than Trump, losing to Clinton by 4 points (49 to 45 percent) to Trump's 10 (51 to 41 percent). And Quinnipiac found that Cruz would fare 5 points better than Trump, tying Clinton (at 45 percent apiece) while Trump would lose by 5 points (46 to 41 percent).
In all, RCP's average finds that Cruz would beat Clinton by 1 point (47 to 46 percent), while Trump would lose by 4 points (47 to 43 percent)...

He’s not a reality tv star. Cruz is going to have to win the old fashioned way, where he earns each vote. Must have driven Trump nuts to have packed all those huge stadiums so easily and still lose to Ted Cruz in Iowa.
Cruz cheated in Iowa.
You can keep repeating it like a child, but it still isn’t true.
I do know King Trump loves to cheat. Has even bragged about it. I guess because he cheated on his wives it doesn’t really matter.
Trump didn’t spend much there either. And he didn’t camp out there for a year like Ted did in Iowa.
You are not looking at reality.
No, CNN lied about what happened in Iowa, and Donald Trump repeated that lie for his own personal gain:
GOP voters are GOP voters
I guess this poll is garbage at it won’t be his running mate

Report: Clinton Foundation hit with subpoena
By Sarah Westwood 2/11/16 1:14 PM
A top aide to Hillary Clinton is under scrutiny from the State Department’s inspector general over her overlapping work for the government and for the Clinton Foundation.
The controversial charity was hit with a subpoena last fall for documents related to projects that required the State Department’s approval as well as records related to top Clinton aide Huma Abedin, according to a report Thursday by the Washington Post.
Abedin’s tenure has come under scrutiny by the State Department watchdog and congressional panels in the past because her simultaneous employment at the Clinton Foundation and by the federal government could have led to potential conflicts of interest.
not saying it’s going to stay static. Here’s what has been unchanging since September. In a head to head race, not once has Trump been shown to be able to beat Hilary.
What would really be great is if he had a rally in the same South Carolina town on the same day as a Trump rally.
You would think that his campaign would be jumping at this chance to demonstrate his popularity in such a direct manner. They must be putting it together at this very moment I’m sure.
Based on everything. South Carolina is every bit as conservative as Iowa, Cruz has the best ground game in South Carolina, Cruz has more cash on hand in his campaign than anyone else and is actually flat out spending on highly effective TV attack ads against Trump etc. Cruz hardly spent any money in New Hampshire. He is now. Like Romney, who also won New Hampshire comfortably, Trump will lose South Carolina.
New Hampshire is NOT equal to the whole of America.
Ted Cruz would mop the debate floor with Clinton. A fact not reflected in this poll. Trump on the other hand would bring his scripted shallow talking points and cliche game to the debates. Eventually he will have to speak substantively which he thus far has yet to do. I’m afraid the day will come when he will be viewed as the laughing stock he is and thereupon his supporters belief systems will have hit the wall. Cruz, on the other hand, is infinitely more capable of changing the nation’s systemic failures and cultural degradation.
New Hampshire campaign expenditures
Trump $3.7 M
Cruz $580,000
Trump spent SIX TIMES as much as Ted Cruz.
Meaningless polls and match-ups at this point. Polls from early 1980 have been posted before showing Reagan trailing Carter by 30 - 40 percentage points on into the summer.
These polls won’t mean much until it’s clear who the Republican and Dim nominees will be, and then we will only have a starting point.
They are so obvious with this crap. There’s no one on the planet who thinks Cruz has a better chance of beating Hillary than Trump. Many still do not even know who Cruz is.
GOP & media have every other candidate with better odds of beating Hillary or getting elected.
“Vote for the candidate who can actually beat Hillary Clinton in the general!
Ted Cruz 2016!”
Why not go all the way then? Didn’t they say at the start that only Bush could beat Hillary? By something like 20 points?
Then it was Rubio....
Of course it’s “anyone” but Trump who can beat hillary, and whoever that nasty looking chick from the DNC (I forgot her name) keeps telling viewers on CNN and MSNBC that Hillary would LOVE to fight Trump, because she would win by so much!
Queer stuff there.
Additionally, what states did Romney lose in 2012 that Cruz could win, but Trump could not?
