Trump backs his pro partial birth abortion sister

Oh common folks, get a clue - you've got to understand a throw-away line when you see one. Trump's sister is no more likely to end up on the SC than Harriet Myers, and Trump knows that. It is just a way to make noise while not answering a question he didn't want to answer. You think Trump cannot put together a small team to come up with first rate candidates - quickly? If he just wants to do the right thing rather than play politics buy votes and sell out for the highest price it can be done fast enough.

This is incredibly consequential considering the 5-4 make-up of the court, and considering that Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has been widely rumored to be considering leaving the court.

If Obama is able to replace Scalia and Ginsburg the Supreme Court could shift to 3-6 in favor of liberal ideological worldview prior to the end of President Obama’s term in office.

Scalia’s unexpected passing sets up a politically charged battle to replace him. Mere moments after his death was confirmed, Conn Carroll, a key staffer for Senator Mike Lee (R-UT), promised Republicans would block anyone that Obama nominated.

Obama is now cheering and having a party and the GOP had better not fold at all. If fairy gets his way then we are so frigging screwed.
One only has to look at the two appointments to see they care nothing about the Constitution.

Half of what you have said is Hyperbole and Rhetoric.
Cruz would be the most effective POTUS picking the next justice and the best one to join SCOTUS out of any of the candidates running.

A sad day for the family and loved ones of Justice Antonin Scalia. They have my prayers and condolences. It is also a very bad day for America because Obama now has the whip hand on the Supreme Court. But there is a further aspect of this tragic loss that most will not realize or understand, which is that this also gives the Republicans the tool they need to coerce support from conservatives for whichever judicial supremacist candidate they nominate for president. Yes, this is a very dark day, in every way.

Lord Jesus, rest the soul of Thy servant Antonin with the saints and the angels, and forgive and protect the American nation in this calamity.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, amen.

If you look at the track record of Republican presidents as it relates to Supreme Court appointments, there's good reason not to trust any of them.

I mean -- Can anyone tell me with a straight face how George W. Bush was faced with the prospect of appointing a U.S. Supreme Court justice and decided that Harriet Miers was the best he could do?

100% of what I said is on the record whether you are in denial or not.

Scalia was an American hero.

He is to 21st century America what George Washington was to 18th century America.

I fear Scalia will be very badly missed.

The problem in the spring will be that it is 4 and 4....

IIRC, a tie vote makes the case stand as it came to them. I think most cases will come in at 5-3...the 3 females conspiring to rule for Obama.

That was a major meltdown here on FR.

>> You think Trump cannot put together a small team to come up with first rate candidates - quickly? <<

I'm sure he can. Trump's team will recommend people who think like Trump. That's precisely the problem. Trump is no conservative and anyone who thinks he would nominate a Scalia type is delusional. We'd more likely end up with Jesse Ventura type ideologies on the federal courts.

He supported him after he was nominated. He “backed” Mike Luttigg, whom I think he would nominate today if he were POTUS.

That’s pretty much when I figured that anyone who thinks of the U.S. Supreme Court as a respectable judicial body is hopelessly delusional.
