Trump’s Not Wrong: Cruz Loved The Justice The Right Hates
Daily Beast ^ | 2/13/2016 | Betsy Woodruff

Ted Cruz has claimed a special skill at judging would-be Supreme Court nominees - but his praise of Justice Roberts in 2005 might call his judgment into question as the debate on who will replace Justice Antonin Scalia begins.

At tonight's Republican presidential debate, Ted Cruz tried valiantly to distance himself from his support for John Roberts's confirmation to the Supreme Court. But correspondence with his staff in the Texas solicitor general's office shows Cruz was just as enthusiastic as anyone about Roberts's prospects on the high court.

Of course, it's completely correct that Cruz didn't nominate Roberts; Cruz was not president of the United States in 2005. But, as Cruz's own email and op-ed make abundantly clear, he was a vocal and adoring booster of Roberts during his confirmation hearing process.

Roberts Donated Help to Gay Rights Case

In 1996, activists won a landmark anti-bias ruling with the aid of the high court nominee.

Please IronMan, let’s not post the same article on Cruz twice.

If you’re interested the limit on Trump is 72 times, but who’s counting.

Oh, the huge Manatee... If only Trump were a Senator in 2005, he would have steered the Senate away from Roberts. /sar

On 0’care, Roberts was all set to go the right way, but changed his mind at the last minute. Drove Scalia nuts at the time. Roberts got compromised... which appears to have happened after his confirmation.

“Trump’s Not Wrong: Cruz Loved The Justice The Right Hates”

And I’m sure Trump did everything in his omnipotence to oppose the Roberts nomination, giving at least 80 speeches. Oh wait, he didn’t??

How manAccording to Trump logic, you should have known you were voting for a guy who lied about WMD to further his Satanic masterplan!!! You are nasty, lying, cheating, sleazy sluggard’s who don’t deserve The Donald’s beneficence!

Just mirroring Trump logic. It can turn on you in an instant.

Don't let your hatred of Cruz confuse you about Roberts.

Justice Roberts voted correctly on Obergefell.

Roberts betrayed the constitution on the ObamaCare abomination.

But this was just Roberts betraying the constitution and conservatives. Roberts has not, to my knowledge, betrayed Trump.

It isn’t so much about promoting Roberts....it’s trying to pretend he didn’t.

Why can’t he just admit that it didn’t work out?

I hope Ted doesn’t damage himself too much that PRESIDENT TRUMP won’t consider him for the court. I think most would agree he would be a great pick.

“Cruz has since said that he goofed a little on Roberts - and he’s been trying to compensate for it ever since. Since announcing his candidacy, Cruz has had very different things to say about Roberts than he did back in the day.”

If they have to dig this deep for something on Cruz, I’d say we have winner on our hands here.

Really? Cruz would already be running attack ads against Trump for something like this. Robocalls, push polls and all. It’s the old politics we’re used to with Ted.

I knew W was pro-amnesty so couldn’t be trusted to have the best interests of this country.

Since you’re trying to change the subject.

Cruz got schlonged by Roberts and is now pretending he never supported him. That’s the problem. He is not honest.

That's right.   Cruz lied again.   He clearly favored Roberts and there's a published National Review article to prove it.   In fact, he not only said good things about Roberts, he said fantastic things.   The article reads like an obituary for a life-long friend.

So now what are we supposed to believe?   Are Roberts and Cruz no longer talking?  Personally I think the first ObamaCare decision was correct.  Obamacare is a tax and Roberts probably realized ObamaCare was going to fail and would be soon gotten rid of legislatively.

Regardless, Trump supports his friends.  Cruz apparently burns bridges, and that's a costly character trait in a people business like politics.

He thinks he’s smarter and better than everyone.

Saw today that when Teddy was 4 his dad was telling him he was specially annointed to be great...the little snot probably would have been better off with a spanking. Actually I read something similar about Clinton...when he was a little kid he was given the master bedroom.

ENTITLED!

And what is the point? This is no defense of Trump - Trump, after all, wanted John Kerry to be the one making that appointment.
