After watching yesterday's debate I finally came to a realization about Sen. Rubio- I don't like him very much.
Even from the start, when I supported him, there was just something about him that rubbed me the wrong way, but I couldn't put my finger on it. So I ignored that sense of unease and focused on his good qualities- his eloquence, ability to articulate conservative principles, and dedication to Christian and pro-life values.
But over time that initial sense of unease I had about him started to be vindicated. It was confirmed by various articles I read about him, like this one, and interviews of him I watched.
I wanted to believe he was ready to be president and that his lack of experience was more than made up for by his intelligence, knowledge of the issues, and character. More than anything, I tried to convince myself of these things because at the time I believed he was the most electable Republican candidate. I actually still believe that, but it's not nearly as clear-cut as it used to be for me.
I've gone from being curious about his campaign, to supporting Rubio for president, to questioning his readiness to lead, to abandoning him for Sen. Cruz, to now strongly disliking him as a candidate and as a person. Here are the events and reasons that caused me to reach this conclusion:
1)When Marco started calling Cruz a liar, it really bothered me, cause it seemed like he was so eager to use that word, and just casually tossed it out there like it didn't matter at all, like it was personal to him. Now he routinely uses that attack against Cruz, I assume

Marco is the Hispanic Barack Obama
Nobody seems to have picked up on 2 debates ago when Rubio said he was for no abortion exceptions, but would pass a bill with them in it if it came to his desk.
WTF does it mean to be “for” something if you’re going to pass the opposite anyway? It’s the same go along to get along garbage that led him to sign on to Gang of Amnesty.
There it is again, rip a Republican and prop up a democrat........more talking points right out of the Democrats mouth.
Being anti-Trump is perfectly consistent with supporting conservatives.
“If Marco would don a red bell boy uniform, heâd look the part, spot on.”
De Plane, De Plane! Where is Ricardo Montalban when we need him. Oh, the last time I saw him he was hawking the “benefits of Corinthian Leather” in your new Chrysler Cordoba! I think Herve is dead, but then as a candidate, so is Marco.
We are in BIG trouble. And if we don't win the presidency, or if the Senate caves and confirms an Obama appointee to replace Scalia, the Republican party and indeed the Republic itself is dead.
I’d rather see TRUMP/CRUZ than TRUMP/RUBIO.
The right VP choice by Trump could mean at least 16 years of recovery for America. I don’t know who he should pick. Maybe somebody nobody knows who is a constitutionalism and a lover of individual freedom and limited government and will do the right thing and doesn’t care what people think of him - has no political ambition other than continue Trump’s quest to make America great again.
You live in a monochrome world, don’t you?
I pretty much agree with this. I was very positive toward Rubio at first, less and less now. Attacking someone for being a liar by being a liar doesn’t impress me. I think the same about Rand Paul. Cheap shots. Rubio’s facial expressions when Cruz brought up his record in Florida and how he said one thing in Espanol on Univision but another in English to the Gringos was interesting. Then he slammed Cruz for not speaking Spanish (I understand it was accusing him of not being Latino enough) and Cruz came back in Spanish “We can do this in Spanish if you want.” Pitiful.
That crowd was disgusting. RNC should have their butts kicked and hopefully the election will do just that.
I see through the robot-like smile on his face. It is not genuine. It is phony.
The more I see Rubio, the more I like him. He made a great closing statement at the last debate, and I think he’s learned a lot about getting things done since he went into the Senate, naïve and way too trusting.
I heard a joke today. Rubio’s Valentine card read “Roses are red, violets are blue. Roses are red, violets are blue.”
LOL...
I agree completely...I will support and work for any of the pub candidates that win the nomination. Sadly I think there are some on FR who will not.
Rubio is better than some of the others!!!
I’m not taking the bait. Our country is on the edge of collapse and there is only one man I would not vote for out of the current six. All Conservatives can do is slice and dice each other and calling Bill Clinton smarter than Rubio is just another prop up. Yeah, Clinton was so smart he decided he could trust a nineteen yo intern to keep her mouth shut.
My thought is that Trump is a stop gap measure that may or may not prevent an all out armed revolt or civil war, an uprising of a totally pissed off citizenry. It's getting that serious.
Except, of course, when he wanted her mouth open........that is the depth of Bill Clintons intelligence.
Well enjoy the campaign - I’m sure you’ll have a blast.
