If Republicans Lose the Fight Over Scalia’s Replacement, They Lose Me
The Blaze ^ | Feb. 15, 2016 12:13pm | Matt Walsh

Within minutes of the man’s death — and this, by the way, is a man with a wife, nine kids and dozens of grandkids — progressives erupted with applause and jubilation all over social media. Plenty of outlets have compiled some of the celebratory remarks, but that probably isn’t necessary. If you didn’t see it, you can imagine. And keep in mind, these weren’t just a few scattered bad apples, but thousands and thousands of human beings gloating over the still warm corpse of a man so decent and admirable that some of his closest friends belonged to the ideological group now exalting in his demise. And these weren’t merely anonymous trolls on Twitter, but famous folks and folks in media and seemingly regular folks who used their real names and real pictures to post triumphant and sarcastic obituaries. Then, not satisfied with ghoulishly dancing on a freshly dug grave, thousands more began offering their fervent prayers that Clarence Thomas die next.

It was an insane, subhuman display. Evil, and proudly so. Another moment — one of many, often provided by leftists — that made me utterly ashamed of what this country has become.

Suffice it to say, American liberalism defied all odds Saturday night and somehow managed to reach an even lower low than the last low it reached.

There are 11 months until we have a new president, praise the good Lord. That means Senate Republicans must spend 11 months rejecting Obama’s Supreme Court nominations. They’re saying now they’ll hold the line, but forgive me if I feel some skepticism. I’d love to believe they’ll hold the line, but I can’t quite get past the unfortunate detail that they’ve never held the line on anything.

If that’s going to suddenly change — and it must — they have to be prepared for a bloody, dangerous battle. Obama will likely put their heads in a vice, politically speaking, by picking a nominee who’s “mainstream” and “moderate” and has some tenuous connection to the Republican Party. It will all be a ruse, of course. There is no possible way — literally zero chance — that Obama nominates a constitutionalist judge with a record of defending life and liberty. Whoever Obama picks will be pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, pro-big government, anti-gun and pro-judicial activism. That means whoever he picks will be unacceptable. There is no point in saying, “Yes, but what if he makes a good pick?” He won’t. Certainly we’ll be told it’s a good pick; we’ll be told the pick is “appealing to both sides,” “non-partisan,” so on and so on, but that will be a lie. The only thing that should be appealing to our side is another Scalia, and he’s not going to put another Scalia on the bench. It won’t happen.

We must keep the pressure on the Republicans, or not only will we lose our country, they will lose their political viability.

Keeping the Senate in session is not a problem...Simply not voting solves the other problem.

The Dems know all this. They're thinking about regaining the Senate right now and seating a new USSC justice between January 3rd and January 17th.

Watch what the other hand is doing.....

Maybe the time has finally come to abandon the Republican party. Let them go the way of the Whig Party.

While we have had two major political parties most of our history,,the parties haven’t always been today’s Democrat and Republican parties.

If a political party stands for nothing, and will not fight battles for principles the party supposedly believes in, then why should such a party continue to exist???

Is it time for a full blown conservative party at the national level????

these disgusting animals on twitter, a bunch of f..ts, feminists, effeminate men, blacks, hispanic all kinds from all walks of life live in a dream world where they love muslims and illegals and hate us.

Push may come to shove one day, and trust me, I have worked with many of the enemy in the city, and we would crush them like a safe hitting that poor coyote.

Unless the army took sides.

Agree. If Republicans lose the Supreme Court to 0bama, I’m done. I’ll write in Ted Cruz forever. For Dog Catcher. Everything. Forever.

Get this right, guys, or destroy the party.

The Republicans should simply tell Reid have Obama nominate someone and we will vote on it. Then simply vote down the nominee. That would finished the presidents choice. Trusting the GOP is a problem tho.

The Republican-controlled Senate has complete control of this. There's nothing obama, the Democrat/Socialists or the Left can do except scream (which I acknowledge they are very, very good at) without the assistance and support of the Senate leaderhip.

If the GOP Senate fails to prevent another communist justice from the court the GOP has no reason to exist.

Based on their record, who says they're going to "fight"?

Keeping the Senate in session is not a problem...

Except for the intersession break, unless they adjourn the 114th Congress on December 31 at 11:59PM and immediately commence the 115th Congress on January 1 at 12:01AM, which won't happen.

No Democrat is going to be sworn in at 12:01AM on New Year's Day to help Republicans thwart Obama, so there will be a recess between Congresses.

Obama is going to nominate a minority female. Then the Dems will beat up the GOP all summer for denying her a vote. They will be portrayed as racists, and the War On Women meme will be revived.

Either the GOP will cave after taking a sufficient beating in the media, or this will become the bloody shirt that the Dems will use to get the Obama coalition of minorities and
women back out to the polls.

Considering what the Senate “leadership” consists of, I am fairly certain that they fold up like a cheap suit before the Summer is out.

My opinion of McConnell and Hatch is lower than whale poop. They have caved on everything else, why stop now?

The most recent election put the GOP in power in the senate. That Trumps the last Presidential election.

A recess for making appointments must be at least 5 days long. Obama got burnt on that a couple times and it went to court....and they shoved it to him.

The party doesn’t care if they lose us. As long as they are re-elected, even to a minority position in the House and/or Senate, they keep power and prestige and keep the corporate support rolling in.

They don’t care how we vote in any given election. If Trump runs third party, they get Bloomberg to run third party. Then the election goes to the House of Representatives and they win again.

Better yet, he will nominate a lesbian minority female who lost her partner on 9/11, who has a black mother and Hispanic transgender father who became Muslims. She will also have several adopted siblings, one a Native American, the other Asian.

(The 9/11 thing will help Trump continue his attack on GWB, kind of a twofer.)
