Thomas Sowell Endorses Ted Cruz
Ricochet ^ | 2/16/16 | Claire Berlinski, Ed.

Posted on 02/16/2016 5:33:10 AM PST by TBBT

Noting with sorrow Justice Scalia’s death, Sowell begs his readers to sober up:

The vacancy created on the Supreme Court makes painfully clear the huge stakes involved when we choose a President of the United States, just one of whose many powers is the power to nominate justices of the Supreme Court.

After enumerating these, and indirectly reminding readers that the next president is apt to be a wartime president, he makes his views about Trump perfectly clear:

Against this background, the frivolous rhetoric and childish antics in the televised political “debates” are painful to watch. If ever there was a time to choose a president with depth, rather than glitter or glibness, this is it.

Trump’s behavior is often that of an “overgrown spoiled brat,” he remarks:

If, by some miracle, Trump became president, what kind of president would he be? Do we need another self-centered know-it-all in the White House to replace the one we have now?

Usually facts have a reference, Jack. Where are your unrefutable facts, Jack?

Why did Congress also agree given independent sources? Why did all of our NATO partners agree? The Mossad? Neocons? Th Bildebergers, Bohiemian Grove?

It’s deja vu with Ron Paul bots all over again. I guess Trump is pulling the votes from the Ron Paul kooks.

I noticed that it was other members of your family who served but not you, but you choose to speak for them. I’m guessing they would be embarrassed by an America Blaming big mouth POS Manhattenite

The founders of ‘neoconservatism’ are Irving Kristol and Norman Podhoretz, and their influence was centered in ‘Commentary’ magazine, a secular Jewish intellectual institution. Certainly there were non-Jewish neocons such as Daniel Patrick Moynihan.

These days, ‘neocon’ is just an insult almost devoid of meaning.

It is not devoid of meaning. It represents a globalist worldview as opposed to a nationalist paleocon world view.

In those terms, you are correct.

Originally, neocon meant a typical liberal who believed in a strong US military and American leadership on the world stage.

Now, ‘neocon’ is used as an insult on ‘Law and Order’ to slam a conservative upstate New York state judge.

Just more proof that Sowell and Cruz are eGOP, since just last year Sowell was trashing Cruz. What changed Sowell’s mind? eGOP membership.

I don’t think you do.

Rush sounds fairly pro Cruz to me, he’s just not gone anti Trump.

Let me put this in perspective. Rush is fairly pro Cruz, but he's given the Trump campaign about 360 million dollars worth of free positive publicity since June. He mentions Cruz maybe a 50th of that much. He hasn't endorsed officially, but his entire program has been a Trump Show since June.

Second, four years ago he totally skewered Newt when Newt went LEFT of Mitt with the Bain Capital ads. And Newt deserved it. This cycle, Rush is floundering around avoiding doing the same to Trump. Rush has abandoned what he stood for over 28 years for his own fan boy infatuation.

I remember when Rush helped against Newt, I wasn't thrilled with what he did.

Insofar as Trump goes, I think he's made it quite clear in the past two weeks (although he doesn't officially endorse), that he would prefer Cruz.

As to the free publicity for Trump, I don't think that was so much true, certainly not on purpose from Rush. It was the strength of Trump's ability to form the narrative, to force himself to be in all of the news that made that possible.

One thing is true about Trump: He knows how to manipulate the media, he knows how to form a narrative. It's his greatest strength.

Probably not.....

:-)

Rush commenting on all this right now.

He's just repeated that Cruz is the closest thing to Ronald Reagan we'll have in our lifetime.

He's also not going anti Trump.

He's had an interesting show.

Food for a new book.

Trump slandering a pub, flawed as he is, carrying the arguments of the most despicable leftist scum like M Moore.

To deflect from his inability to discuss issues beyond chest thumping.
