Full Title: Medal of Honor Winner Dakota Meyer Endorses Ted Cruz Ahead of Military-Focused South Carolina Primary
Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Dakota Meyer endorsed Ted Cruz for president today, the Cruz campaign announced.
The endorsement comes as Cruz seeks to beef up his military credentials in South Carolina - a state where 12 percent of the overall population is made up of veterans.
The Texas senator gave a detailed speech this morning on the deck of the U.S.S. Yorktown in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., outlining plans to reduce bureaucracy and focus on the tip of the spear rather than the support structures and personnel that he argues weigh the Pentagon down.
Meyer, a Marine, was awarded the highest possible U.S. military decoration in September 2011 for being injured by enemy shrapnel while saving the lives of fellow servicemembers in Afghanistan.
He'll join Cruz on the trail Tuesday for several events, the campaign announced.
"In these dangerous times we need a strong, principled conservative in the White House," Meyer said in a statement. "We need a Commander-in-Chief who works with our allies and makes it known that certain actions against the United States and its allies will not be tolerated. ... Ted is ready to led this country - and I look forward to [helping unite] conservatives and veterans behind this campaign."

Take that Bristol and Sarah!
Maybe Cruz can wrangle an endorsement out of Levi.
Wow...just wow...a true hero in every sense of the word.
Ha, he was a real charmer wasn’t he?
This is the guy that walked out on pregnant Bristol Palin. Right?
Sgt Dakota Meyer - that liar? P’shah.
No those guys deserve and are awarded Purple Hearts, being a POW does not warrant a Silver Star unless your father is an Admiral. Tens of thousand of men were POWs that did not get a Silver Star and my brother in law who survived Bataan was one of them.
So you are saying that Dakota Meyer should have kept his endorsement of Ted Cruz to America’s veterans to himself?
No. Anyone can endorse whoever they want. I am asking why his opinion carries any particular weight in this matter.
Put differently: Do you care which candidate any famous person supports? Does that famous person's choice in any way influence yours?
Isn’t he or wasn’t he in a bitter custody battle with Bristol Palin over their child?
I follow Dakota Meyer. I think he’s awesome. I notice also, he hasn’t called Trump supporters any vile names.
No, I actually don’t care about celebrity endorsements. Point in fact I tend to disdain them unless the endorser has some credentials in the world of politics and or statecraft.
---------------------------
Shouldn't you at least know someone before sleeping with them. Pitiful excuse.
Fifty years of liberalism from both parties has given us this generation. Name one popular TV series that has a man and woman in a married relationship that did not live together before they were married or had children. In fact I can't think of even one that has a normal father in the home.
Sex education to every school child, condoms for every middle school. Unisex bathrooms. What would you expect?
OK.
I didn’t say “celebrity”, though. I said “famous person”. There’s a difference. The late Antonin Scalia was certainly a famous person ... and a person with “credentials in the world of politics and or statecraft.” I would never insult him or his memory with the term “celebrity”.
I’m not particularly a fan of anybody’s endorsements; I have seen endorsements go very badly awry.
From what I heard, Bristol walked out on Dakota just before they were supposed to get married, and then announced to the world a couple months later that she was pregnant...but refused to say who the father was.
From what I’m hearing now, there has been a DNA test that supposedly confirms that Dakota is not the father.
So if I have my timeline right, Bristol was either cheating on Meyer, or she struck up another sexual relationship very shortly after she walked out on him.
Payback for the Palins?
Wow, several years ago, the Palins were celebrated here on FR...Everyone loved watching Bristol on Dancing with Stars, etc. Now she is the problem...
Just so you know, Meyer had a previous marriage too.
>> the fiance that ran out on a pregnant Bristol Palin <<
I thought she was the one with cold feet. Am I wrong?
Uh,you heard wrong:
As per Wikipedia:
On January 6, 2016, People (magazine) reported that Dakota Meyer is the biological father of the child and that Meyer had filed legal documents asking for joint legal and physical custody of the newborn as well as child support from Palin. [35]
