First of all, you don’t need eminent domain to build the pipeline. The Koch brothers have built a lot of them without ever using eminent domain. You just route and re-route.
Second,energy — the free flow of oil at market prices — is related to national security. If the supply is too small, the price goes too high and the hostile Middle Eastern Islamofascist regimes have us over a barrel, so to speak.
So it’s a completely different thing from what Trump did.
The answer to that is no, it’s not public use and even Jeb Bush came out against using eminent domain to build a sports stadium.
And suddenly the establishment Republicans repeating the new buzz line, "He's not conservative".
For those paying attention, the term "Conservative" has clearly become the new insider buzz word attempting to discredit Trump.
As if the D.C. career politician candidates have been a "conservatives" for the past 35+ years. No one capable of critical thought is buying it.

Well, that’s great that Jeb Bush is against Eminent Domain for sports arenas. He’s a real authority on Eminent Domain, having used it to muscle a disabled veteran off of his land to create a frog sanctuary or some such nonsense.

The phrase is “public use” not “public purpose”. Use was chosen instead of purpose so that it is broad enough to encompass anything the government decides to use the property for.

The emminent domain attack is pretty a run of the mill thing to throw against the wall in a political campaign. Actually talks about an issue before the voters. Reasonable people can disagree over the framing, but still, it run of the mill.
IMHO, “nasty” attacks are _personal_ attacks and/or going after the family of the candidate.
They clearly wasted 10 or 20 or 30 seconds on Trump’s so called buying of politicians. The issue has already failed.
