Draft-Dodger Trump Said Sleeping Around Was My ‘Personal Vietnam’
The Daily Beast ^ | February 16, 2016 | Tim Mak

Draft-dodger Donald Trump once said that the danger he faced from getting sexually transmitted diseases was his own “personal Vietnam.” In a 1997 interview with shock jock Howard Stern, Trump talked about how he had been “lucky” not to have contracted diseases when he was sleeping around. “I’ve been so lucky in terms of that whole world. It is a dangerous world out there. It’s scary, like Vietnam. Sort of like the Vietnam-era,” Trump said in a video that resurfaced Tuesday on Buzzfeed, “It is my personal Vietnam. I feel like a great and very brave soldier.”

Oh please. It does compare.

The apostle Paul says that he had been a murderer.

King Mannasseh had been an idolater.

The point is that people change.

King Nebuchadnezzar changed, and he reminded that it’s God who raises and deposes kings.

Daniel 4: “17 The decision is announced by messengers, the holy ones declare the verdict, so that the living may know that the Most High is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and gives them to anyone he wishes and sets over them the lowliest of people.”

God is preparing to set over us a Trump or a Clinton or a Sanders.

Why do you think He’d empower them: they truly are among the basest of people?

No, he did not dodge the draft.

Every male his age who went to a 4 year college got 4 years of student deferment.

When his deferments were done, he failed the physical - the 4F (unfit for military service) classification - something wrong with the bone in one foot I believe I heard him say.

All perfectly legal and above board. No one's influence was used.

I’ve said here I will vote for Trump in my primary. But I also added that if Cruz wins the nomination I’ll enthusiastically and unequivocally vote for Cruz - proudly.

I can’t guarantee that for the others, but these two I do know.

I’ve also said here all along I’m content to let the Trump/Cruz issue rest between those two alone - I won’t condemn either. Yet, I’m disturbed by the myriad of posts attacking Trump for all sorts of reasons when my personal opinion is that these efforts should be focused on Bush, Rubio, Kasich and the rest. To me, they are our true enemies.

All I’m saying is that if someone has a legitimate moral complaint against Trump (or Cruz), perhaps thinking about the vehicle (the actual link referenced) that supports it legitimately and doesn’t resort to attention-drawing diversions.

We’re approaching a hard deadline here in March and soon after. I personally want us all here to coalesce around the REAL winner of these contests coming. We cannot do this if we are all concentrated on getting that ‘one last swap over FR vote’ at the risk of completely alienating a whole camp here (on either side) at the expense.

I don’t know how else to say it

Trump is a tad younger than I so I recall that era quite well.

He was classified 1-Y most of the time after 68. This class is notable as: “Registrant available for military service, but qualified only in case of war or national emergency. Usually given to registrants with medical conditions that were limiting but not disabling (examples: high blood pressure, mild muscular or skeletal injuries or disorders, skin disorders, severe allergies, etc.). It was discontinued in December 1971 and its members were reclassified as Class 4-F.” He was transferred to 4F in his last one as required. So, the upshot is, he could have been called but was not AND did not enlist either.

Now then, Clinton, elected twice, was a conscientious objector I believe or he fled the country, I forget which. I don't see anyone else on the stage as a candidate with any military experience either. So, what is the big deal here.

BTW, I enlisted in 68 at the conclusion of my 2S deferment which like the Donald was available. I had been rejected by the air force in 65 for medical reasons but the Army seems to take anyone walking I guess so I enlisted.

Is there no one else among the candidates worthy of your support in your opinion?

All the men you mentioned repented. Each and every one. If you can show me where Mr. Trump has repented, I could be persuaded. I have not heard it. I have heard him belittle Dr. Carson’s conversion to Christ.

[As a Vietnam vet, I don’t find his comments funny, at all. Sucking up deferments, spending Daddy’s money, burning up the party circuit, yes, that is the same as being a big brave soldier.

He is a jerk.]

Lighten up, Francis! Everyone doesn’t have to have the same lifestyle or experiences as you!

That sounds legit. Just making sure. So many of the wealthy kiddos, now leaders in gubbamint, skirted serving because of their parents position/stature.

You are so brave, katieanna! Posting anything negative about Trump by a female brings out the most disgusting misogynistic hatred by so many Freepers. I’m especially amazed at the hatred pointed toward you by women.

And he was in his mid twenties when he moved to canada from the states. Maybe he didn’t want to take the chance of being drafted in the 60’s.

I think it's more likely you're more worried about Ted Cruz getting the nomination than he was about getting drafted.

I don’t, except there was some information that he had foot problems and I don’t know if that is true. I would say a New York prep school boy with bigger fish to fry, was given special privilege, just my opinion.

Issue is, he is relating his sexual activity to like being in Vietnam. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Yeah, he was running around in mud filled trenches, trying to dodge bullets, watching friends explode into a red mist. Another comment he has made is that his military school education gives him more experience than most.

He is a delusional self-loving bastard.

That I can honestly recall, I have never condemned or attacked Cruz for anything. I’ve probably said that there were some things that I didn’t agree with but I don’t think his religion, piety or birth status is an issue to me.

In fact, until a couple of months ago, I was vocally for him here. That changed when I got fed up with CW and others’ attempts here to change the color of the contest.

See my post #148
