Ted Cruz to Donald Trump: Bring On Your Frivolous Lawsuit (VIDEO)
Red State ^ | February 17, 2016 | Leon H. Wolf

Ted Cruz held an unscheduled press conference today, the main purpose of which seems to have been to highlight the fact that the Trump campaign has threatened to sue him over ads his campaign is running in South Carolina, highlighting his pro-choice record. Cruz opened the press conference by reading portions of the letter, and declaring that if Trump filed the lawsuit, he would respond with a motion for sanctions. Take a look:

I know that a few are very good at stirring up fighting on FR, but a lot of FReepers do not want to fight each other.

Now Donald doesn’t have to sue. Who cares who wins a lawsuit? Cruz giving lots of attention to Trump’s threat to sue neutralizes any affect the ad may have had. Think about it. When voters see the add they will now wonder if its true or not whereas before Cruz press conference people may have believed it. Voters will look at all Cruz’s ads with a grain of salt. All his ads will be neutralized even the ones against Rubio because Rubio campaign also is calling Cruz a liar. Cruz may look smug in his press conference but he spent a lot of money on ads that he himself just neutralized.

Yes, you are innocently correct; it MUST be OTHER FReepers. Yeah, that's it! It's some OTHER FReepers who stir the yellow jackets nest, eh CW?

A good point. The wiser response is to simply laugh and tell the audience/reporter "I notice that he has failed to actually sue. What does that tell you? Call me if he ever backs up his empty words with actions. Until he does, he is simply showing that all he has is empty words and empty threats. That's who Donald Trump is."

I wish Cruz had a better campaign advisory staff.

“Wonder if Trump would support tort reform”

One of the best things that could happen for the US, so of course he would support it ... or he might not ... he’d think on it, but probably so ... he’s thought about it and he definitely would ... possibly.

You assume you understand Christian motives, but by your assumptions I assume you are not a Christian. Simply because you are dead wrong. I also assume you would rather hold on to your assumptions because they assuage your conscience so I will save the effort of trying to enlighten you.

One hint, morality, not agenda.

That’s what you think?

You misread how this looks to the voters.

No one likes a bully.

Cruz is backing down a bully.

I’m cheering.

I’m not alone.

All of this ‘dissension’ among the tow front-runners makes me laugh! ;-)

Doesn’t anyone remember the Ronald Reagan/George H. W. Bush name-calling episodes? Doesn’t anyone remember the ‘voodoo-economics’ speech?

RR/Bush ticket was the result.

I still say that if things keep going the way they are going then we’ll see a Trump/Cruz ticket. ;-)

That should satisfy almost all of us FReepers!

You are a teutonic twat.

Because I won't click on a link you posted me without any explanation?

Okay then. Teutonic twat is the epithet you spit that falls far short of me. Although, isn't the wind blowing in your face?

Cruz and Leon are so cute when made d e s p e r a t e.

Cruz was never ready for TRUMP, as it turns out. Losing Evangelicals to TRUMP in South Carolina, in droves, was the hand signal we all learned to love and hate.

Cruz is getting that signal now.

Seed ya’ll tonight, on MNBC? TRUMP live, you know, townhall with Joe and Mika.

FOX dies for tonight, with MNBC hosting the Gladiator, and CNN hosts the second tier, Cruz and Rubio.

It’s raining spades for TRUMP today.

Perfect response, Teacher. You should work for a campaign. I always think - Trump is doing something amateurish when he says I may sue - but then the guys he is going after - seasoned politicians one imagines fall for the bait and Trump has them right where he wants them. I have never seen anything like this and I am not just saying that as a trump supporter - I freely admit some of the stuff Trump says goes against all I have ever studied about our political campaign system and yet Trump makes it work for him. It is astounding to watch.

I saw Megyn Kelly interview Judge Napolitano last night, and he said Trump has no basis for suing Ted Cruz. She asked what chances Trump has of winning this case, and Judge said ZERO. He went on to say, “There are many many technical obstacles to this lawsuit, but in the midst of a political campaign, for him to say to his opponent, unless you apologize to me for something you said about me, and to Ben Carson for something you did to him, I’m going to sue you, the Federal courts would dismiss the suit on their own notion, and charge Donald Trump the cost that the others paid to resist the suit. It’s called frivolous pleadings...this is litigation 101.
http://therightscoop.com/it-has-zero-chance-judge-napolitano-on-the-donalds-trumped-up-lawsuit-threat-against-cruz/

Also as to the Iowa mailers, from a previous segment (since Trump keeps bringing it up)....Cruz didn’t do anything wrong. This is not an election, this was not run by the govt, this is a contest within a private group, called the Republican Party of Iowa, they set the laws, they set the rules, the state of Iowa does not, so the general laws that apply to a general election, do not apply here.

Secondly basic principle, politics is not beanbag....you can say rough and tough things, you can exaggerate, you can extrapolate, it is perfectly reasonable for Congressman King to have said, “this guy is going to Florida, he is out of here”, they reacted the same way, watching CNN, watching other news commentators speculate, they all reacted the same way. It is a rational inference he can make. The courts are not going to get in the business of second guessing words that people use, during campaigns.

As to the flyer, it would be impossible to prove that that flyer a) coerced people to vote who weren’t going to vote, and b) to vote for a specific candidate. It is unknowable and unprovable. NO lawyer would take that case.

Trump is making a political statement, there is no legal basis for having another Iowa caucus, no court would take a complaint, no court would inquire of a voter as to why they voted.

As well, here is Judge Napolitano earlier in January, discussing how Cruz is eligible, so Trump can do whatever (which I doubt he will, because he’s all talk, no action)
