Hollywood actor Sam Elliott has lent his deep, resonant voice to the Joe Biden campaign, narrating a new campaign ad that calls for Americans to unite behind the Democratic presidential nominee. “There is only one America — no Democratic rivers, no Republican mountains,” Elliott says in the commercial. “Just this great land and all that’s possible on it, with a fresh start. Cures we can find, futures we can shape. Work to reward, dignity to protect. There is so much we can do if we choose to take on problems and not each other, and choose a president who brings...

A plurality of Generation Z, Democratic or left-leaning independent voters said that they have seen far more ads from President Trump's reelection campaign on the internet than ads from former Vice President Joe Biden's campaign, according to a new poll from a nonprofit youth organization. The survey released Thursday by the Alliance for Youth Action found 47 percent of Democratic or left-leaning voters in the 18-25 age range reported seeing Trump campaign ads on popular social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram within the last month. By contrast, just 21 percent of Gen Z, Democratic or left-leaning voters saw...

SAN MARCOS, Texas — Michael R. Bloomberg on Saturday did not rule out spending a billion dollars of his own money on the 2020 presidential race, even if he does not win the Democratic nomination, and said he would mobilize his well-financed political operation to help Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren win in November if either is the party nominee, despite their sharp policy differences. Mr. Bloomberg’s plans would effectively create a shadow campaign operation for the general election, complete with hundreds of organizers in key battleground states and a robust digital operation, ready to be inherited by the party...

Ted Cruz held an unscheduled press conference today, the main purpose of which seems to have been to highlight the fact that the Trump campaign has threatened to sue him over ads his campaign is running in South Carolina, highlighting his pro-choice record. Cruz opened the press conference by reading portions of the letter, and declaring that if Trump filed the lawsuit, he would respond with a motion for sanctions. Take a look:

Could this be the most cynical statement of the campaign season? The woman whose recent wedding President Obama attended is okay with stoking the racial fears of black Americans—if that's what it takes to drive them to the polls and secure Dem victories. Alex Wagner devoted a segment of her MSNBC show today to the naked appeals to the racial fears of black Americans that Democrats are making in campaign ads. Wagner discussed Dem ads that seek to stoke black fear toward Republicans by invoking Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown. You might think Wagner would have condemned these ugly tactics,...

Republican nominee Mitt Romney and his allies are banking heavily on a high-risk, high-reward media strategy in the final weeks of the campaign, hoping that burying President Obama in ads will give them a crucial edge on Election Day. Ad purchases in the presidential race doubled or in some cases tripled last week in swing states such as Colorado, Florida, Iowa and Virginia, tracking data show. The surge is being driven by Romney and well-funded allies, who decided against running more ads earlier in the campaign in favor of a big bang at the end. Restore Our Future, a super...

In the weekend following President Barack Obama’s terrible debate performance, the Obama campaign released 18 videos on their YouTube channel, 10 of which are attack ads against Mitt Romney, in an effort to rally their campaign back to success. . Check out the most desperate one where the Obama campaign says that Romney misled the American people about Obama’s green energy record. Really, you’re going to defend Solyndra?:
  • Was ‘Understands’ Coordinated? - anti-Romney ad might violate campaign-finance laws

    National Review Online ^ | August 16, 2012 | Stephen M. Hoersting
The “Understands” ad, by Obama super PAC Priorities USA, insinuates that Mitt Romney is responsible for the death of the wife of former GST Steel employee Joe Soptic, five years before she died, simply because Soptic lost his job (and thus his health insurance) at a plant owned by Bain Capital. Conventional wisdom has it that the ad is both despicable and false. The question to be answered is: Was it coordinated with either the Obama campaign or the Democratic National Committee? Federal law typically treats a super-PAC ad coordinated with an official campaign or political party committee as an...
  • Rep. West decries 'classless' ad that depicts him punching women

*** The punches land as the narrator lists the groups of people West has supposedly wronged. *** West said the ad reflects a "sad state of politics" in the country. "The ad being run against me by my opponent's family depicting violence against women and senior citizens is reprehensible," West said. "It plays on stereotypes and fear to divide Americans, and it cheapens the very real and tragic occurrences of violence against women and seniors. The American people are suffering from crushing debt, horrific tax and regulatory policies, and epic unemployment. This classless ad shows a lack of regard for...

..In the political mud pit of South Carolina, whose Jan. 21 primary is next on the calendar, candidates and their Super PACs have already dropped more than $9 million so far this cycle. The top three spenders in South Carolina have all been super PACs, led by RestoreOurFuture, a Mitt Romney-allied group, at $2.1 million. Texas Governor Rick Perry’s super PAC, MakeUsGreatAgain, has pumped $1.77 million into the Palmetto State so far, and WinningourFuture PAC, which backs Newt Gingrich, trails close behind at $1.6 million. Those sums are poised to swell quickly, with both Perry and Gingrich planning to savage...

With less than five weeks until Iowa voters hit the polls to kick off the Republican presidential race, the leading candidates in the race unleashed barrages of ads hitting television stations across the country and the Internet. Former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts unveiled two new ads running in Iowa, which holds the first presidential caucus Jan. 3, and in New Hampshire. The Iowa ad indicates Romney plans to compete in the Hawkeye State, where he placed second back in the 2008 race. "After watching Mitt evade, distort, and eventually blame Bret's questions, it's no wonder he is ‘Scared Mittless’...

In an aggressive move to pull his campaign out of the trough after his Wednesday night debate performance, Gov. Rick Perry of Texas has effectively bought himself a chunk of the Fox News Channel, buying nearly $1 million of advertising time on the network. A rival campaign that is monitoring advertising sales said Mr. Perry’s campaign had purchased $975,000 worth of advertising time on the channel, a huge amount for national cable television, ensuring that his ads will be seen up to seven times a day.
  • When the media reports "unexpectedly", what is that worth as a campaign ad? (job data, etc)

    06/21/2011 10:44:28 AM PDT · by Halfmanhalfamazing · 1 replies
Many of us have noticed how progressive journalists use the word 'unexpectedly'. They do it month after month. Al Reuters has an article from last week that uses this word. Yet again, after all this time. What these are, are campaign advertisements. From the media, to Obama.(most of us know this instinctively) It's a fair question to ask. And if enough of us ask it, maybe we could find out just how much the media donates to it's preferred candidates.

When Barack Obama was elected president on the back of an army of small donors in 2008, the commonly held wisdom in Washington was that a new model had emerged in how elections would be funded in the future. Mr Obama’s supporters, giving donations of $25 each over the internet, coupled with substantial support from traditional big Democratic givers, gave him a distinct advantage over rival John McCain. Republicans, unmotivated and lacking the Obama campaign’s organisation, lost the money war. But 34 days before the congressional elections, the table has turned on Democrats. An influx of cash from a relatively...
