Ted Cruz Already Looking Ahead to Nevada With Latest Ad
Charisma News ^ | February 19, 2016 | BOB ESCHLIMAN

After Saturday's very important South Carolina Republican Primary, the presidential nomination process kicks into a whole new gear.

Three days later, on Tuesday, Republicans in Nevada will gather for their caucus. U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) isn't waiting for Saturday night's results from the Palmetto State to launch his efforts in the Silver State. He unveiled his first Nevada-specific ad on Thursday afternoon.

The 30-second spot, titled "Nevada Land," continues the Cruz campaign's attacks on Republican front-runner Donald Trump over the issue of eminent domain and federal ownership of land. It features Cruz speaking directly to the voters:

"Eighty five percent of Nevada is owned and regulated by the federal government. And Donald Trump wants to keep big government in charge. That's ridiculous.

"You, the people of Nevada, not Washington bureaucrats, should be in charge of your own land. If you trust me with your vote, I will fight day and night to return full control of Nevada's lands to its rightful owners—its citizens. Count on it."

Trump currently holds a 22-point lead over Cruz in recent polls, according to Real Clear Politics. But unlike in Iowa, Nevada delegates aren't bound to the results of the caucus popular vote, making the Silver State a test of organizational strength rather than get-out-the-vote efforts.

Cruz got a boost in that regard, as well, on Thursday. Carl Bunce, who was Rand Paul's senior advisor in Nevada, announced his endorsement and encouraged "libertarian-leaning conservatives" to caucus for the Texas senator.

Bunce joins former Huckabee state leaders Assemblyman John Ellison and former Nevada Republican Party National Committeeman James Smack, who also endorsed Cruz.

"In Nevada and throughout the country, a growing coalition of courageous conservatives continue to unite around us, and I'm thrilled to have Carl joining our team," Cruz said. "Carl has been a staunch advocate for the liberty movement in Nevada and throughout our nation. He brings great experience to our campaign in uniting and turning out libertarian-leaning Republicans, and ensuring they stay engaged in the political process and have their voices heard in the upcoming election."

I don’t think Cruz would be dumb enough to tell the press he’s going back to Texas. Only an idiot would announce that while campaigning.

And only cry babies would whine over it afterwards.

Ted lies again. When has Donald Trump ever advocated for taking Nevadan’s land. Ted is a slimy weasel.

He just needs some clean jeans and some R&R. Or he's dropping out.

Maybe Carson's staff should tweet it.

It’s winner take all, so really it doesn’t matter who finishes 2nd or 4th.

What sucks is that it’s an open primary winner take all. This way the liberals get to choose our nominee. The RNC is so stupid. They thought they were helping Jeb with these rules but instead helped out Trump and the Democrats.

Trump made a lot of mistakes in the last few days? Really? I think he handled the Pope situation very well to the very end when the Pope walked back the statements. Then his MSM event which pissed off liberals for being a love fest....I am ok with that. Last night I didn’t get to see the whole thing as the stupid DVR didn’t go through the entire meeting, but what I saw was ok. I don’t see what you are seeing.

Sure they should tweet it if CNN or Fox news announces it and repeats what Cruz said.

Did Cruz say he was going to back to Texas? Or are you making this up? I don’t think Cruz would be that stupid. Only the biggest idiot in the world would say they are going home while votes are taking place. Who on earth would be that stupid?

Doesn’t matter though...it’s winner take all :-( If Trump wins by 1 vote it’s a big win (unfortunately).

“Cruz has a tough road in NV. He is up against Trump who is media whore and the biggest high-stakes gamble ever. NV loves to gamble big and whoredom is an approved industry.”

I think you need to starting making statements of Alaska as they are next and while you are at it get the Super Tuesday states ready to go for the Cruz excuse train. I believe by state number 50, you will have every state called a liberal state. I am most looking forward to the excuse of Alabama and Mississippi when Cruz loses. You took South Carolina which up until this primary was a very conservative state and now some are saying it is liberal which is really kinda funny. If Cruz tomorrow wins, you would be saying what a great conservative state South Carolina is. I mean even Iowa has turned into a conservative state suddenly even though it hasn’t voted for a Republican President in a long time.

According to the latest poll, Ted Cruz is within 5pts of the Donald in SC, and further Trump is fading fast.

If they are really that close, then Ted Cruz almost certainly takes SC.

Get ready for another TRUMPERTANTRUM!!!

I just think the electorate is far more cynical and isnt interested in boilerplate “I will work hard to blah blah blah”, because they know it’s baloney.

“One thing he has proven is that if he campaigns on it he will do it.”

Like what?

He's up against Trump in South Carolina too. What equally snarky things do you have to say about them Davey?

I think Donald should promise to open up Area 51 to tourists. Cut Ted off at the knees.

That should pull in *all* the Rand Paul supporters, and get some significant crossover from Bernie as well... ;-)

I heard Ted Cruz was headed back to Texas today. Very unusual.

He just needs some clean jeans and some R&R. Or he's dropping out.

Maybe he ran out of bullsh*t and needs to re-stock? /ba-dum t'sssh>

Being informed is always a plus.

Vera Coking
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Vera Coking was a retired homeowner in Atlantic City, New Jersey whose home was the focus of a prominent eminent domain case involving Donald Trump.

In 1961, Coking and her husband bought the property at 127 South Columbia Place as a summertime retreat for $20,000.[1]

In the 1970s, Penthouse magazine publisher Bob Guccione offered Coking $1 million for her property in order to build the Penthouse Boardwalk Hotel and Casino. She declined the offer, and Guccione started construction of the hotel-casino in 1978 around the Coking house, but ran out of money in 1980 and construction stopped. The steel framework structure was finally torn down in 1993.[2]

In 1993, Donald Trump bought several lots around his Atlantic City casino and hotel, intending to build a parking lot designed for limousines.[3] Coking, who had lived in her house at that time for about 35 years, refused to sell. When Coking refused to sell to Trump, the city of Atlantic City condemned her house, using the power of eminent domain. Her designated compensation was to be $251,000,[4] about one quarter of what Guccione had offered her 10 years earlier.

With the assistance of the Institute for Justice, Coking fought the local authorities, and eventually prevailed.[5] Superior Court Judge Richard Williams ruled that, because there were “no limits” on what Trump could do with the property, the plan to take Coking’s property did not meet the test of law. But Williams’ ruling did not reject the practice of using eminent domain to take private property from one individual and transferring it to another, which would eventually be upheld by the Supreme Court of the United States in Kelo v. City of New London.

Two other properties that prevailed against eminent domain eventually did sell: Sabatini’s restaurant received $2.1 million and a pawnshop sold for $1.6 million. Their lots became part of a large lawn flanking a taxi stand for Trump’s casino.[1][6] Coking remained in her house until 2010, when she moved to a retirement home in the San Francisco Bay Area near her daughter, Claudia Casey Coking and her grandchildren, Ed Casey, Raymond Casey and Claudia Casey- Fernandez

Casey subsequently tried to sell the house, putting it on the market in 2011 with an initial asking price of $5 million.[1][7] By September 2013 the price had reduced to $1 million,[8] but it still did not sell as Atlantic City continued to suffer the lingering effects of the financial crisis of 2007–08 and over-building during the boom that preceded it.[citation needed]

The property was finally sold for $583,000 in an auction on July 31, 2014.[9] Neither the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority nor the owners of Trump Plaza expressed any interest in the auction.[1] The buyer was Carl Icahn, who held the debt on Trump Entertainment, owner of Trump Plaza. He subsequently demolished the house on Wednesday, November 19, 2014.[10]

The adjacent Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, the property for which Trump wanted Coking’s property to begin with, closed on September 16, 2014 due to lack of business.[citation needed]
